V.I. - I was in a bowling tournament while the game was on, so although I was able to follow the highlights, didn't get a chance to scruitinize the details so didn't witness the behaviour of the Yanks you mention. But I think that is one of the products of the attitude toward winning at all costs today. It's gotten crazy, as one poster said and I think there's a bit of truth in it, Bronze signifies a "win" while silver signifies a "loss". I think the Yanks played a hell of a game- Canada should have had a two goal lead in the final minutes so they wouldn't pull the goalie and it damn near burned them, but Crosby pulled it off anyway. It's too bad there couldn't just be more enjoyment in playing the game than in the prize you win at the end of it. Guess it's another trait of the human animal, just like the collection of wealth at all costs.
If canadians had of lost in hockey, they would have looked
exactly like the u.s. team. They were completely deflated,
and one has to understand what it is like going from such
a high, with adrenaline charging all over the place, and
all of a sudden it is over, very suddenly, and you have
lost the game.
They were quiet and respectful in their loss, I would
never expect them to look tall and proud or to have a
smile on their faces, and 'our team would have been the
same' in a loss.
They will get over it, just need a little time, that
moment was too soon to expect that.
