GE has a "Nuclear Power Plant" problem. Faulty design. They are gonna spin it off and then declare bankruptcy where the government will pick up the tab.

Walter will buy on the dips.

GE has been dipped in half so far, but as long as you have infinity money its a great plan.

General Electric’s stock is showing positive signs that it not only has stopped falling, but also that it is ready to reverse. Therefore, it looks like a good contrarian investment capable of producing a good return in fairly short order.

Could the stock fall below its newly created foundation level? Of course. However, to do so requires new negative information – not a regurgitation of what we already know.

But you know it is doing REALLY good these days.

Mine are pretty good as well. I actually have two different "money guys".

It went up a lot, then down a lot, and now it's recovered some of the ground it lost. That's kinda how markets go.

I did best during the late Bush II and Obama administations, because, as before, my money guy's a frigging genius. 14.5% per year on average from 2007-2017.

<well guess what company stands to take a beating if those tariffs go through?

Good old General Electric.

Poor Walter

GE could get rocked by Trump's tariffs - Mar. 7, 2018

This is actually a better analysis.

When they remove GE from the Dow it is going to get cut in half again. All the big funds will divest GE and buy whatever takes it place.

CPP bought a hefty chunk of GE. CPP Investment Board has been doing quite well over the past 10 years.

The Canadian Pension Plan more than quadrupled its stake in GE in the fourth quarter.

We invest not for the quarter but for the quarter century,” the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Boardsays on its site.

The pension’s board however had no problem with making stock trades in the fourth quarter that seem a bit eager for that long timeline, including buying millions of shares General Electric (ticker: GE), General Motors (GM) , Facebook (FB), Apple (AAPL) and JPMorgan Chase (JPM).

We can’t begrudge the performance, however. The board can boast of a five-year annualized rate of return of 11.8% through March 31, 2017; for the 10-year frame, that drops to 6.7%. The latter figure tops the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index. The index has returned an annualized 13.4% on a quarterly basis for the five years ended Dec. 31, and 6.2% for the 10-year period. At the end of 2017, the board had about $53.2 billion invested in U.S.-traded securities out of total assets of C$316.7 billion.

The board bought a whopping 5.9 million GE shares in the fourth quarter, quadruping its holdings to 7.9 million GE shares. The stock looked like it was in the bargain bin as 2017 wound down; GE ended with a 43% drop, excluding dividends. Unfortunately, the new year offered a shiny metal chute to slide down; shares are off 16% year-to-date through Thursday’s close. That said, we noted one analyst who thinks GE shares are a Buy and that they can get to $27, nearly twice what they’re trading for now.
