It's all about optics. The Liberals are looking at those Palestinian protesters as potential votes.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said his government has “not” made a decision on restoring funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), but any choice it makes will be based on protecting civilian lives.

Trudeau made the comments Thursday in response to questions from reporters after media reports indicated the government was considering restoring funding to the UN agency that provides relief in Gaza.

Minister of International Development Ahmed Hussen was set to hold a press conference on Wednesday morning alongside UN Ambassador Bob Rae, but that event was abruptly cancelled.

(Prior to the pause, the Liberals had provided UNRWA with $90 million from 2019 to 2023, and last June the government announced it would give the agency an additional $100 million over the next four years. The Harper government suspended aid to the organization in 2010 over concerns about how the money was being spent)

Canada has not missed a payment since announcing the pause in funding in January. Its payment of $25 million for this year isn’t due until April.

It has taken the United Nations five months to finally report on and acknowledge what most reasonable people have known since Oct. 7 — Hamas raped, gang-raped, butchered, burnt and often defiled the corpses of women in a campaign of deliberate and co-ordinated sexual violence.
It’s March 8th…International Woman’s Day, & two days before the start or Ramadan.
Disturbingly, a UN report also says that Israeli hostages taken on Oct. 7 have been raped and sexually tortured while imprisoned and that such inhuman and cruel treatment is likely ongoing.

And it’s not just women but children who are suffering sexual abuse at the hands of these monsters.
1709904590729.jpeg
“Based on the first-hand accounts of released hostages, the (UN) mission team received clear and convincing information that sexual violence, including rape, sexualized torture, and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment occurred against some women and children during their time in captivity and has reasonable grounds to believe that this violence may be ongoing,” says the report.
All of these actions are war crimes, & asking which ones are still alive or not is asking too much by Israel?
…& UNRWA is affiliated with this? Happy pre-Ramadan.
Israel accused South Africa on Thursday of acting "as the legal arm of Hamas" after Pretoria again petitioned the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to take measures against Israel.

"South Africa continues to act as the legal arm of Hamas in an attempt to undermine Israel's inherent right to defend itself and its citizens, and to release all of the hostages," Israel's foreign ministry said.

"The repeated requests for provisional measures made by South Africa in order to assist Hamas are yet another cynical exploitation of the International Court of Justice in the Hague, which has already twice rejected the baseless attempts to deny Israel its right and obligation of self-defense," it said.
So on those above notes, Justin Trudeau won’t rule out restoring funding to terrorist-affiliated aid group UNRWA.

The Prime Minister was asked three times about UNRWA funding by Canadian taxpayers on Thursday and couldn’t give a clear answer…but that’s not surprising as clear answers aren’t a Liberal strong point.
“Prime Minister Trudeau, will you be restoring funding to UNRWA?” Trudeau was asked directly.

He never gave a direct answer despite three attempts by journalists. Let me guess….something about Water-Boxes?
Here’s the problem with his thinking, UNRWA is not an agency built for distributing food and medical aid in a war zone, they run schools and many of their employees are teachers. “UNRWA is not an agency, most of its staff are teachers, it doesn’t have the experience of doing disaster relief in emergency zones,”

“The UN knows how to distribute aid, UNICEF World Food Programme etc. It’s time to activate them in Gaza and ditch the aid organization the organization that is a front for Hamas.”

“Given its history, we believe that UNRWA lacks sufficient governance and internal controls to ensure that humanitarian aid delivered by Canada will be reliably delivered to those who actually need it and that there is a serious risk funds will be misappropriated by Hamas,” Liberal MPs Anthony Housefather and Marco Mendicino said in a joint statement.

This was yesterday…literally yesterday…

…& the VERY next day…Canada will resume funding to the U.N. Palestinian refugee agency, International Aid Minister Ahmed Hussen said on Friday, becoming one of the first international donors to announce such a move.

Ottawa paused funding on Jan. 26 after Israel alleged some of the staff at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) agency had been involved in the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks.
The Muzzie, of course.
Boys will be boys I guess. "Canada will be lifting its temporary pause on funding to (UNRWA)," Hussen said in a statement, but did not say exactly when this would happen. "UNRWA plays a vital role in Gaza."

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Thursday (Literally Yesterday!!) that Ottawa was waiting for the results of an internal United Nations probe into the Israeli allegations that 12 UNRWA staff had been involved in the attacks in which around 1,200 people died, according to Israeli tallies.

Probe…Shmobe…that was sooo yesterday though. A total of 16 donors, including the United States and Britain, paused their funding to UNRWA…& Canada under Harper stopped it in 2010 ‘cuz of the UNRWA affiliation with Hamas…but Justin overturned that in 2015 ‘cuz 2015.

Announcement on a Friday ‘cuz it could be buried by the next scandal by Monday, etc…
Canada managed to pause the UNRWA funding, and restart it again, without even delaying a payment let alone missing one. That’s…really…something, I guess. That’ll learn them!!

In an incredibly cowardly move, the Trudeau Liberals made a late Friday afternoon announcement that they would restore funding to UNRWA. The announcement, made in Mississauga, wasn’t communicated ahead of time to the Parliamentary Press Gallery, no advisories were posted to the Government of Canada’s website, major media outlets in the GTA were not informed.
As usual, he lies!
The announcement, from International Development Minister Ahmed Hussen, was also made after 3:30 p.m. to limit the ability of major Jewish groups to respond before the Sabbath began just over two hours later. Some had already shut their offices for the weekend.

If there was any doubt that Team Trudeau is part of Team Hamas, then doubt no more. Their denunciations of Hamas’ actions mean little when they are funding Hamas proxies like UNRWA.

The Trudeau Liberals made this announcement on March 8, International Women’s Day. They celebrated women by restoring funding to a group whose employees killed, raped and kidnapped women on Oct. 7.

“Rewarding rapists on International Women’s Day. Horrific. Disgusting. Cynical politics,” said Milissa Lantsman, deputy leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

In announcing the renewed funding, Minister Hussen said that Canada is demanding accountability from UNRWA. That’s the same kind of claim they made in 2016 when they restored the funding cut by the Harper government in 2010 with the evidence available then that would’ve still existed in 2016 over terror ties.

UNRWA ignored Canada’s wishes then and will do so again. “The decision to continue supporting such a problematic and irresponsible entity, before the independent investigation into its culpability in facilitating acts of terror is even complete, actively undermines the international efforts to ensure a sustainable and peaceful future for both Israelis and Palestinians,” Robertson (Richard Robertson, Director of Research and Advocacy, B’nai Brith Canada) said. At least it’s consistent with Trudeau Liberal values since 2015 ‘cuz 2015.
On Tuesday of this week Israel released more evidence of UNRWA employees, including three education workers and one health worker, allegedly taking part in the Oct. 7 massacre. They released the phone recordings of some of them allegedly bragging about killing Jews or taking hostages.

“We have sabaya, I captured one!” Yousef al-Hawajara, an elementary school teacher with UNRWA boasted to his friends on Oct. 7, 2023, according to Israel.

Sabaya is the term ISIS used, and that Hamas has adopted, for the young women they take as hostages and sex slaves. A school teacher with a United Nations agency allegedly boasting of such barbaric acts and Canada is restoring funding.

The percentage of Muslims in Canada is 4.9% as of the 2021 census. In the Greater Toronto Area, 10% of the population is Muslim, and in Greater Montreal, 8.7% of the population is Muslim.

I’m assuming the Jewish population is about 1/2 of that. To determine the location of Jewish populations, Elections Canada relied on 2016 Census data and identified 36 out of 338 ridings with a Jewish population varying from 1 to 13.4 percent.

If you’re trying to appease both while committing to neither, you get what we’re seeing would be my guess. Small populations but in key ridings in Vancouver and Toronto and Montreal, etc…whose votes are trying to be swung.

I’m assuming the end result is alienating all.
