wherever i sit down my ars
I recently read about the latest backlash for an American female trophy hunter who'd bagged a very large older giraffe. She described the creature as beautiful. What I can't get my mind around is how someone could see such beauty and then want to kill it? I can understand seeing the beauty and taking a picture to show everyone the beauty you saw, but to kill it?
Because we're for the most part, barbarians.

I hunted all my life. I had an outfitting business also and it paid well. I did not gather trophies for myself but i ate game meat always. I have never spent time trashing people who are so incomplete that they wish to disregard nature. I wish they could extend the same courtesy. if anti hunting is being "progressive" well good luck.

Nobody's talking about hunting here. We're talking about trophy hunting.

Hope that helped.

It's a simple matter, Twila- anyone involved in bizarre behaviour can think up a multitude of ways to justify it. Bottom line is any human with the help of man made devices can prevail over any lower form.

Wildlife authorities have halted the hunting of big cats and elephants around Hwange National Park.

It came after more than one million people signed a petition calling on the African country to act after much-loved Cecil was brutally killed by American dentist Walter Palmer.

The dentist allegedly lured the big cat outside of the park in Hwange - in which he was protected - and then wounded him with a bow and arrow, before tracking him for 40 hours, shooting him dead and skinning him.

Outraged animal lovers flooded an online petition set up to urge Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe to stop authorities issuing permits to kill endangered animals.

After more than one million signed up in just over a week, Edson Chidziya, head of Zimbabwe's parks and wildlife authority Zimparks, said today: "Hunting of lions, leopards and elephants in areas outside of Hwange National Park has been suspended with immediate effect."
He added big game hunters would only be allowed if "authorised in writing by the Director-General of the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority".

The news is likely to be met with support from Care2, a social network for activists, which began the online petiton.

Care2 CEO Randy Paynter said at the launch of the poll: “It’s a tragedy that many of our planet’s most treasured species are also the most vulnerable to those who would take their lives for a trophy.

“Care2 members are stepping up to pressure Zimbabwean authorities to end this irresponsible and tragic practice once and for all.”

13-year-old lion Cecil was said to have been tempted outside of the park using bait on July 1

Yes i bash those who like to see a persons face bashed in but worry about the animals. Very strange thinking , right?

I wasn't thinking about me. Like I've posted several times; your opinions of me mean nothing. I was referring to your bashing of others here.

Cecil's memory kept alive with commemorative cellphones, clothing and plush toys

What could capture your mourning over the senseless killing of a proud African lion like a $3,200 commemorative cellphone? Or how about a commemorative Beanie Baby?
Those are just a couple of the dozens of commercial spinoffs following the death of Cecil the lion, reportedly lured out of a protected area so an American safari hunter could shoot it with an arrow.
While Walter James Palmer, the Minnesota dentist who now faces charges for the hunt, has been vilified worldwide, his prey has been elevated to commemorative T-shirt status.
Charities and businesses are cashing in with a variety of products — almost all of which pledge to give back some of the proceeds to wildlife charities.
The $3,200 phone, for instance, is a 24k-gold-embellished HTC smartphone, laser-engraved with an etching of Cecil and the words: "For Cecil and his Kingdom."
Goldgenie promises to give 10% of all sales to the Friends of Hwange, the conversation group that looks after the Zimbabwe wildlife park where Cecil lived.
On Tuesday, Ty Warner introduced the Cecil the Lion Beanie Baby stuffed toy to "raise awareness ... and give comfort to all saddened by the loss of Cecil," according to Warner himself.
The company said 100% of profits will go to WildCRU, a conservation group that has received more than $1 million in donations since Cecil's death.
There are also dozens of T-shirts, hoodies, cotton handbags, and other accessories from a variety of companies and charities, such as armtheanimals.com, who have released a collection of RIP Cecil wear.
Others are taking a less altruistic run with Cecil's handle, such as a pub in Norwich, England, that named a new brew Cecil's Revenge after the lion. It's reportedly a hit with customers.
Artists have also gotten on board. Iranian sculptor Parviz Tanavoli was so moved by Cecil's death — "The cruel killing ... broke my heart" — that he dedicated his latest work to the lion's memory.
A member of the Disney animation team who worked on the 1994 classic The Lion King, was also "extremely moved by the recent tragedy" and created a Cecil the Lion portrait above a quote from the movie: "Look at the stars. The great kings of the past look down upon us from those stars."
