Do you have a problem with good PR? Or are you operating under the illusion that soldiers' "rights" aren't rather strictly limited as a matter of course in their service?
You do have a valid point there. A soldier abroad still has to follow his employer's rules, making it an invalid comparison with a Canadian resident operating his own business.
They aren't being forced to observe Ramadan. They're being forced to obey local laws and customs.
Why is that so hard to grasp?
