Confused by what?

By charged particles and what radiation is.

I'd really like to know what you mean by raw radiation, and how it differs from say, just plain old radiation.

Last fall when I said this summer was going to be a cooker ( I didn't need a model) I warned that the weenies would start putting a global warming face onto these known cyclical anomilies.

Last fall you said it was going to be a cooker based on what? Maybe you're unaware, but using ocean phenomenon to predict something which will occur at a later time is a model.

Is that all you have to say?

How well do atmospheres fair against magnetosphere movement and decline?

How is Mars doing these days?

It must have been a nice place before it saw it's magnetosphere go haywire.

Just in case you didn't see the graphs I'll post them.
Fig. 1. Global geomagnetic models from 1600 to 2005. Geomagnetic field from GUFM1 (validity 1590–1990), IGRF (validity 1900–2010) and CHAOS (validity 1999–2005) models from 1600 to 2000 at steps of 100 years, together with 2005. The surface area of the SAA is evidenced by the white area with field values less than 32,000 nT.

Fig. 2. Surface area of South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA). Surface area of the SAA as measured at Earth’s surface using the 32,000 nT isoline from three geomagnetic global models (GUFM1, IGRF and CHAOS; see text for references) in the interval 1600 to present.

Fig. 3. South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) area, global sea level and mean temperature anomalies. Surface area of the SAA (thick black line) from GUFM1 and IGRF as compared with the changes in GSL (thin black line) and temperature anomalies (grey line) (http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/tabledata/GLB.Ts.txt).

Fig. 4. GSL and SAA linear relationship. Linear regression between global sea level (GSL) and South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) surface area from 1700 to present. Correlation coefficient is 0.98.

Where are your facts? Credentials? So far, all we've heard are your claims to worldwide expertise in everything. There's a word for that....

You both gotta aim higher.... I'm somewhere near the bottom of your shyteheap....

It's a question of becoming informed, not a competetion.

As I said if you're interested in learning the facts about the topic then inform yourself.

Try the IPCC 2007 report and go from there. If you have a library membership then your local library probably has a lot of material on the subject. Learn all aspects of the issue, there is uncertainty, but it shouldn't prevent action.

This isn't an I'm better than you therefore I win situation, it's- There's some really compelling evidence of the dangers of continued emissions of large amounts of greenhouse gases...to us all.

One of the most important steps is education so people understand the importance of action.

And effectively countering people who's agenda is to stop effective education on the issue...

Do you have a washing machine and dryer?

If you don't have one of these...

You're part of the problem

Unless you're living out in the woods with the bears we're all part of the problem.

That isn't the point.

The point is to rationally look at where we are now and decide what kind of future we want to leave for the coming generations.

Enjoy the ride to the dark side maybe you'll bump into Batman while reading the fiction.

How does ths help at all?

As unpleasant as dealing with the reality of the situation may seem, the consequences of not facing the facts could be very terrible indeed.

No, it's easier to whine and bark than it is to actually do anything.

You might have heard an old expression: Actions speak louder than words.

You might try it.

Any time you're willing to discuss this as an adult I'll be here.

That's the problem.

Ok... the climate is changing (as it always has).

Everyone carry on about your day per usual.

The GW people don't want to change. Just look at that clip from the Climate Change Conference in Cancun 2010! There is not a shred of sacrifice. Not a bit! I've been to conferences and THAT was a CLASS A spread! I've never been to a conference that extravagant.

Conference paid for by governments and NGOs are always far more extravagant than those paid for by the evil corporate types, with a few exceptions.

Rational isn't shutting down everything that emits CO2 without having something in place to feed, transport, and heat us - the ALTERNATIVE

And how do we get there while there are powerful business interests and the politicians in their pockets telling the world that there is no problem and delaying action.

Not that there is not already considerable progress in finding those alternatives. It just needs a few million supoorters of the deniers to gettheir heads out of the sands and demand they be put in place.

How did Christopher Columbus do it?

Big business has one goal and one goal only: Money. If you have more, you get more attention. Failing that, you can always issue a smug: "I told you so" when it actually does happen.

Not that there is not already considerable progress in finding those alternatives. It just needs a few million supoorters of the deniers to gettheir heads out of the sands and demand they be put in place.

Name-calling isn't the right sort of bait - especially if you're calling on people to revert to lesser means and fewer toys. You'll need some really great marketing skills or one fantastic gimmick that has to be seen to be believed.

Just in case you didn't see the graphs I'll post them.

And when I google the figures to get access to the paper you're pulling those figures from, the authors note that they cannot establish a clear connection between South Atlantic Anomaly and global warming. In fact all they have are correlations. They don't have a causal mechanism, though they speculate.

Correlation. And the correlations are likely inflated. They made no mention of auto-correlation...in analyzing time series data. Does that not strike you as problematic?

Let me know when they have evidence of a causal structure in that relationship.

I personally find it humorous to note that you will willingly latch onto this highly model dependent work, with no causal evidence, just strong correlations.

It is clear from this analysis that during the last 50 years, large parts of Europe warmed at 2-3 times the ‘average’ global rate. This is at the high end of the 'land' warming rates shown in the bar graph above. Some will say that this is a cherry-pick, but 50 years over an entire continent is one very large, long-lived cherry.

Northern hemisphere warming rates: More than you may have heard

It's all CO2 right? NOTHING can possibly be wrong with ANY other system? Is that right? I'm considering starting a fund and all here at Con Cen can chip in and get you deprogrammed if you'd like. You'e worth saving, more than a polar bear.
