Sorry IRBS but now you have gone from 'understanding' the process will be skipped, to 'thinking' it will be..........it's one or the other and a world of different meaning in between.

Look, I could very well be wrong in my belief that all the proper precautions are being taken but until I hear, read or see definitive and unbiased proof that security measures are being ignored, I will remain positive about the outcome.

My understanding is that they are not pre-vetting. This was one of the points that Justin was criticizing Harper for (they both had same number of immigrants promised -- they differed on timing). You are correct that it is my conjecture that they will skip the process entirely once they come over for reasons stated. Certainly I hope I am wrong but politically finding a terrorist once he is on our soil is inconvenient at best. I hope this clarifies.

I'd love to believe that but past record says otherwise. Up until now it's taken a year or more to process ONE person, now they are going to do 25,000 in a couple of months! The Math doesn't add up!

So we are on the same page then.

I had no idea that Canada was skipping the process. Wow. That does not make sense at all and I doubt Air Canada has direct flights to Syria these days.
The refugees aren't in Syria dolt. Try Turkey and Jordan for the most part.

So let me get this straight. You feel it's ok to use a native image to insult Americans, while you occupy land many natives consider stolen.

And you don't care.

Is that right?
We could always deport the Indians to Syria and see if the former Syrian rebels integrate into society better than the Indians have so far. (then you could escape to Israel where they would deport you as fast as if you were an Ethiopian)

Too bad you can do only 1 red eh bear?

You should be looking closer to home for the error. Are you under orders not to talk and that is what the red things are all about, it seems more like an compulsive obsession than a statement of any kind.

BTW the refugees being picked up aren't in Syria, did you get that part as the bottom part wasn't part of the post when you rated it.

That is the biggest problem with democracy. Even stupid people are entitled to voice their opinion.
Thanks for providing an example of that so quickly.

It does and thank you for your reply, IRBS.

Approximately 250,000 immigrants come to our country every year.................I guess we've just been darn lucky so far, eh.

"Canada’s resettlement project will likely involve the chartering of at least 80 jumbo jet flights to make the more than 9,000 kilometre flight from the Middle East to eastern Canada. The fuel costs alone will be about $240,000 for each return journey and as many as six wide-body aircraft may be leased for four or five weeks."

Clock ticking on Canada’s refugee plan while concerns expressed over tight timeline

I doubt the US has anything to fear. The refugees coming to Canada are all ready in settlement camps - not as though we're rounding them up off the streets. They will be or have been vetted there and will also be vetted by Canadian authorities. That was my chief worry and from what I have been hearing the process is well in hand. It won't be easy but Canadians are known for their resilience and kindness and have the ability to pull this off. If would make matters that much easier if we all pulled together..........ah but if wishes were horses..........

Yeah, I know the US has nothing to worry about... I'm mean a visitor or immigrant in Canada has never attempted to pull a terrorist attack on the USA in the past..

It is my understanding that they are going to skip the process (in Canada) in order to make the 12/31 deadline. They may vet them once they are here but not before they arrive.
And since the CIC has been known to take decades to get rid of unwanteds, we may be victimized by our won gov't .... again.
(Sandra Gordon is still around, I think, and she has been committing crimes in Canada since 1976. And there's some dude from southeast Asia that's been here even longer).

The Refugee Issue Is a Religious Liberty Issue

Texas is demanding that Christian groups stop taking in Syrian refugees. The groups say that's a violation of the Constitution.

Late last week, nonprofit and charitable organizations around Texas received a troubling letter from the executive commissioner of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Dated November 19, the letter instructs all refugee-related agencies in the state of Texas to report any plans of resettling Syrian refugees to the commission, and asks that if they are in the process of resettling Syrian refugees, to “please discontinue those plans immediately.”

The commission’s letter followed a separate letter sent November 16 by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to President Barack Obama, wherein the governor informed the president that Texas would not be accepting any Syrian refugees.

In Texas, most refugee services are carried out by private organizations that receive funding in the form of contracts from the state. This has been one of the ways, Moorhead said, that Texas has managed to put relatively little of its own tax revenue into social services. But many of these private organizations are faith-based, and their commitment to aiding refugees flows from their overall religious orientation. For that reason, the commission’s directive to suspend all aid to Syrian refugees struck several such faith-based charities as an infringement upon their free exercise of religion.

In a notice posted on its website and Facebook page, the Catholic Charities of Dallas stated, “We are called by the Gospel to reach out to all those in need,” adding that, “Catholic Charities of Dallas will continue to serve all refugees.” The citation of the Gospel places the brewing conflict between the state of Texas and its faith groups in line with several other high-profile religious freedom cases that have played out over the last several years, including court battles involving Hobby Lobby and the Little Sisters of the Poor.

As soon as faith groups received the Health and Human Services Commission’s letter last week, Moorhead said, her phone began to ring. “People were calling from the offices of denominational groups saying, ‘Hey, what’s going on? We feel like this is threatening the freedom of this entire denomination, if the refugee organizations we have can’t do their work.’” On Wednesday Moorhead will host a conference call with more than 75 faith groups to prepare a strategy to respond to the commission’s demands. Religious liberty will be at the forefront of their conversation, she said.

Oh, brother.
Whatever happened to
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Just heard on C.B.C. radio that the plan to import 25,000 by the end of December has been jettisoned. The figure is now ten thousand with 15 thousand more by the end of February! I've been trying to convey that message to meathead for three months, but he obviously wasn't listening!

Harper would never have attempted that procedure from the get go. A lot of innate wisdom in that boy!

Guess that answers your question about Justin being flexible, JLM.
