Good idea - perhaps it will help keep some of the nut cases in the US from crossing into Canada, not to mention the hundreds of illegal immigrants who cross the border each year to claim refugee status.

Or another way to look at it is, the US could keep out some of Canada's nut cases. I don't agree with that...

It would be nice if a couple of you migrated south.

We already have a border fence between Canada and the US.

The home of the brave and land of the free has decided to build a fence to protect themselves.
Imagine fencing yourself in, now that is fear, didn't they proclaim freedom from fear?
Maybe they should dig a moat around the place.
The other thing that America hasn't noticed, is that the Romans built a wall across Britain and it
failed, the Chinese built the biggest wall in history and it failed so what the hell good is building
a fence?

Don't forget the East Germans and more recently the Israelis. Fences and walls are a popular method of keeping people in or out. Mind you, unless you are prepared to shoot people who try to climb over them and have guard towers at regular intervals to house the shooters, they don't work very well.

If they're worried about terrorism from our side of the border, giant tubes filled with petrochemicals just seems like a dumb idea.

Yepper; I'd say blowing up a pipline would suffice as a really neat terrrrist act, and easier to do than hijacking planes, etc. Isn't there a guy in prison now for doing just that?

Most of the illegals come via ships. Stevo and MacKay meet them at the harbour and hand out cash........in return for votes.

Fence the ocean??

I have no problem with them building as many fences they want. They are responsible for their own border security. If they feel this a wise way to spend their money, so be it.

What do you expect from idiots? Like we have nothing better to spend our money on. But all hell breaks loose when we talk of southern border fences.

If they tried to build a solid fence it would be easier to cross when a snowbank builds up just as high along the fence?

As a friend pointed out when we were discussing this.... if your job relies on there being tension at the border, you'll create tension at the border. If there isn't a huge threat requiring huge funding and pay rises, well, invent one. Tell them you need a fence and at the very least they'll give you a better budget for staffing at the existing crossing stations.
