Quebec and the UK giving unfair government subsidies.
Pretty quick decision.

Horseshyte. The US government has subsidized its aerospace industry constantly over the years with trillions of dollars of unnecessary defense spending. They get away with it. We whine about our own industry. How pathetic we are. We deserve to be losers without any tech industries. Hewers of wood, drawers of oil that we give away for practically nothing ....

Colonials, still.

Yep. And if you didn't learn from the fate of the Maritimes fishery, I don't see how you ever will.

Bombardier's CSeries hit with another U.S. duty

Power Play: Tariffs for Bombardier total 300%

Bombardier CSeries faces 300 per cent in export duties to the U.S. | CTV News

One more phase to go Boeing might not be able to prove the last one....... but the damage might be done.

It's all so ridiculously O.T.T. the only ones buying the malarchy that the duties are somehow fair are dumb Yanks. Most of maybe all or most of the duties will not survive the arbitration processes that they are going to go through. As Bombardier has pointed out, Boeing was not hurt at all because they don't even make an airplane in the same category as the C Series.

INDEED.

Boeing wants to get rid of the competition.......even if the plane is different . Boeing was NOT hurt.......so that is not the issue.

Seeing a how Montreal never supported the Energy East p/l, it's now hard to find any sympathy for Bombardier.

Plus the fact that the Libs keep giving them money.

European aircraft giant Airbus Group is buying a majority stake in Bombardier's CSeries program.

The two aircraft manufacturers announced the partnership Monday evening, weeks after the United States announced 300 per cent preliminary duties on exports of the aircraft following a complaint from Airbus rival Boeing.

The CSeries headquarters will remain in the Montreal area but a second assembly line for the 100- to 150-seat plane will be set up at Airbus' facility in Alabama.

The partnership is expected to result in significant CSeries production costs savings by leveraging Airbus' supply chain
expertise.

Airbus will acquire a 50.01 per cent interest in the CSeries Aircraft Limited Partnership (CSALP), which manufactures and sells the plane.

Bombardier will own 31 per cent and the Quebec government's investment agency will hold 19 per cent.

CSeries is a little smaller than the 737 and is a serious challenge to Boeing in the short haul market.

Yes, I am trying to figure out some of the reactions here. Specifically, why looking after your own interests is somehow unfair to others.

It's a US decision. None of us is, or will be, sitting with the Americans discussing this.

What that means is another deal will come along.

Airbus is a start. There will be others. In a few years, we will be selling to the US again, sans duty, like nothing ever happened. Business has a way of digging up demand. The worst case is Bombardier folds. While I personally don't see that happening, as someone pointed out, the Liberals are in power and will "subsidize" the hell out of them, because it's the right (Liberal) thing to do.

And while none of us will be negotiating with the US over this, or any other deals, try generating some positive thoughts. Have a good idea? Post it. Crying and whining is what losers do.
