First of all let us determine who happens to be the Rich. The mess America's in requires
that anyone with spare change is going to be Rich. They are going to have to cut budget
spending and raise taxes like it or not. The American people dug themselves into this hole
and now they have to dig themselves out.
The problem is they had to low a tax base for too long going back to Reagan. Those low
taxes meant the infrastructure didn't get maintained and neither did the cities service base.
At every level they got a so called free ride or tax holiday so now they are faced with paying
1980's problems in 2011 dollars. Ye Obama should have hit the books harder but the people
still believe they are exempt from the problems of the world. Working people will pay more,
seniors will have to get by with less, and big companies and those miserly little basta***
working for the brokerage houses will have to pay their fair share and be regulated so they
will do the right thing.
America is where Russia was twenty years ago, living in a bubble beyond their ability to pay.
Japan has gone the same route and they have been in recession for two decades. The
people have been told there is no free lunch but they have been enjoying one for as someone
said for nearly 60 years and that free lunch is now going to cost a lot more than anyone can
afford. One group is going to pay for believing the myth and the other group is going to pay
for perpetuating the myth but the fact that the myth is a myth is going to be understood
the hard way. There is a lot more pain to come its just getting started and we are soon going
to be paying too, Anyone care to admit they have some spare change? No not me lol

Oh there is plenty of money coming into the government but the pols have been lining their pockets with it and promising it to everyone with their hand out... foreign and domestic. The government is being fleeced and now they want to go back into our pockets and get more. Subsidizing everyone... buying helium and storing it for military dirigibles... still buying wool from farmers in case we need wool for uniforms... foolish departments like the ATF, ...foolish studies... foolish programs... waste, waste, waste.

Cowboy Poetry Festival... are you kidding me?

A group of Republicans should cut ties with their party and tea party group to start a new party that includes members of the Democrats. The radical elements of the present Republican group is insane. Fringe nuts are in control of everything and nothing can work in the existing state, including government.

Why would you raise taxes for the rich? Are they using more government services than the poor? Or do you just want them and their money to move out of the country?

It depends on how you measure the use of services. Most people tend to focus on the services used by the poor while overlooking the fact that wealthy corporations and businessmen are very heavy users of services that the poor simply cannot afford. For example businesses and corporations are heavy users of technical experts trained at public expense; in addition many industries make a great deal more use of transport infrastructure than the average citizen. This includes things like airports, port infrastructure, roads, and railroads.

I suspect that if the actual monetary value of services provided at little or no cost to large corporations was calculated it would far outstrip those provided to the poor. If that is truly the case then the very wealthy are being provided with services that they only partially fund with the difference being made up by middle class taxpayers and small business owners.

Including the far left's grip on the President and Democrats.

After reading these articles, I'm thinking that the 'catastrophic' part of the title may be more apt than Machjo even knew.

What is it with Republicans and the environment? Don't they like to breath clean air and drink clean water too? I wonder how many of them have even seen the desecration that is caused by mountain stripping for coal?

I'm starting to wonder if this "catastrophe" isn't a blessing in disguise.............something major has to happen to stem the greed, make people more resourceful and hence extend human life on the planet. The way we are going now we are probably into the final generation!

From my observation, and it's just a observation, an issue either seems to need to be a Democrat's issue or a Republican's issue. And never the twain shall meet. For the most part anyway. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Each is as bad as the other. All politician's seem to care about is making sure they get re-elected, whatever the cost.

All of this partisan bickering back and forth of late, on this issue, if I were an American voter and taxpayer, I'd be right pissed off. In fact it reminds of that travesty we call Question Period.

Truly, JLM. How can they be so bloody blind to the damage that is being done to the environment??? How can they work so hard to restrict any laws that try to limit the damage done? Honestly, it makes me so angry when I read articles like the ones I cited.

CNN breaking news:

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted to pass Speaker John Boehner's plan to raise the nation's debt ceiling and implement sweeping cuts in government spending.

The plan now goes to the Democratic-controlled Senate, where Majority Leader Harry Reid has said he has the votes to table the measure, effectively killing it. Reid is planning to spend the weekend pushing what top Democrats insist is a more centrist piece of legislation.

Boehner had scheduled a vote on the bill on Thursday but canceled it after he was unable to line up enough GOP votes. On Friday, Boehner tried to make the plan more appealing to conservatives by including a provision requiring congressional passage of a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution before the debt ceiling is extended through 2012.

The federal government will hit its debt ceiling on Tuesday and without congressional action will be unable to meet some of its financial o bligations.

Now, IF this was a blood sport.........it might be interesting to bounce back and forth ........But this is serious stuff and futures are on the line. IF the decision did not affect other nations as well. the US suicidal behavior would register as just another extreme from the nation.

ABSOLUTELY !!

Reid is having a press conference this evening.

They have completely lost sight of the whole picture and the consequences that could unfold.

They collectively belong on a psych ward.......... as they have lost their sanity along the way.

time for some sane adults to take over............IF they can be found.
