Let's see where some major bucks are going. ( including the costs in life)

=

Number Of Iraqis Slaughtered In US War And Occupation Of Iraq "1,455,590"

Number of U.S. Military Personnel Sacrificed (Officially acknowledged) In America's War On Iraq: 4,790 www.icasualties.org/oif/

Number Of International Occupation Force Troops Slaughtered In Afghanistan : 2,588

Cost of War in Iraq & Afghanistan
Total Cost of Wars Since 2001
$1,220,665,477,792
http://www.costofwar.com/
and this does not cover all the "interventions" going on.
Makes sense to rethink the priorities before the crisis becomes totally non- fixable.

Don't worry. Beer comes in vented packs of 18 now.

"The MillerCoors brewing company will soon be forced to pull 39 brands of beers from every restaurant, bar and liquor store in the state of Minnesota. It's all because the state says the company didn't renew its brand label registration far enough in advance before the state's government shutdown.

...

Beer is just the latest in a long line of casualties — including 22,000 laid-off state workers — to fall victim to Minnesota's government shutdown."

Lots of jobs for skilled labour in Western Canada thanks to Scocialist Stimulus Programski.

They even wrote a nifty country jingle to make sure you have "all the right papers" when you go pick up your new permit workers. http://nemo.cbp.gov/opa/psa_01_border_crossing_song.wmv

Make sure they are all WHITIE approved. OOOOPS I mean't WHTI.... WHTI | Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative | USA

RFID conspiracy is alive and kicking....

You can print off this cool poster to help your kid's get used to being tri-lingual.

Dora has been working at it por mucho tiempo.

She'll have no problem getting a trabajo with the Gov when she picks up french in a heartbeat.

The Military Industrial Complex: The Enemy from Within
By John W. Whitehead
July 14, 2011 --- If there is any absolute maxim by which the federal government seems to operate, it is that the American taxpayer always gets ripped off, and Americans would do well to keep that in mind as Congress and the White House debate whether or not to raise the debt ceiling from its current high of $14.3 trillion.
For one thing, the grandstanding by both parties over health care costs and Social Security is nothing more than a convenient distraction from the glaring economic truth that at the end of the day, it’s not the sick, the elderly or the poor who are stealing us blind and pushing America towards bankruptcy. It’s the military industrial complex (the illicit merger of the armaments industry and the Pentagon) that President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us against more than 50 years ago and which has come to represent perhaps the greatest threat to the nation’s fragile infrastructure today.
Having been co-opted by greedy defense contractors, corrupt politicians and incompetent government officials, America’s expanding military empire is bleeding the country dry at a rate of more than $15 billion a month (or $20 million an hour)–and that’s just what the government spends on foreign wars.

Ah, that warm welcoming Canadian love for our fellow-men.
Would you believe this same member made some silly claims about wanting peace and global unity?

Do I detect a wee little bit of anti-Americanism there in your post?
A wee bit?

Any topic on the US will draw the same silly irrationality from this type of person.

Where's Toro and his well plotted and verifiable break down of the big bad military industrial complex myth.

The last time he posted it, Walmart was making more money.

Since when are POSTERS the subject material for discussion??? If you want a poster bashing thread than start one.....but be sure you follow the ROC. This one already has a title and purpose.

...........

the FACT is that the US is in serious trouble and a lot of it ........is its own doing , being greedy, making wars a priority over domestic needs of their own people. ....while sensationalizing a "dream" that has no basis on reality.

The US aka deck of cards is fragile and it is anyone's guess how all this will play out. And yes, there are a LOT Of things the US has done very WRONG..... and warrants criticism for. Deal with it. Seems part of the US issues have resulted because they are too busy blaming someone else for the problems and misdirecting the focus Those that play the anti american card .....have nothing of substance to say.......so they hide behind their "isms".

Since some of them throw any real thought to the wind and prefer to troll thread after thread with their inane irrational generalizations of an entire country and nationality.

You mean like the rule about spamming thread after thread with the same nonsense?

Sort of the exact opposite of Greece?

I actually agree. But for legitimate, provable, rational reasons.

Deal with it.
What's to deal with?

Seems part of the US issues have resulted because they are too busy blaming someone else for the problems and misdirecting the focus
Really? Do you have any examples of that? I have a few examples, but they're from Canadians blaming the US for every problem.

Those that play the anti american card .....have nothing of substance to say.......so they hide behind their "isms".
I wasn't hiding behind anything. I was pointing out the vacuous nature of the usual suspects and their usual hyperbole filled posts and Op/Ed pieces.

Now back on topic.
I was hoping you would actually get on topic. We already have a thread dedicated to your opinion
of the US. How about you offer some facts on the economy and the US, instead.

Now back on topic.

Momentarily maybe, couple of days. Then new debt ceiling, new tax breaks, and all will be as it was. Except the Democrats and their budget and treasury people will be out. Everybody seems to forget that those controlling our budget now are that same people involved in screwing up things in the first place. Democrats just picked and chose from old regime. Smart people are still running the show and are still the rich keeping us moving thru this.

And what will "we" as a populous have learned from nearly falling over the edge. (IF the scenario you descibe comes into reality)?

Or will we continue to live near the edge until the next crisis??? ( or will we just hope we are dead and gone before the next Economic / financial tsunami hits??)

Why should they learn Chinese?

You do realize, there's a more to Canada than just Hongcouver Japanada don't you?

Although given your limited knowledge of history, global issues and this continent in general, that question is more rhetorical than anything else.

Make sure you have your gun papers pre-approved for crossing the border. It's easy. My bro-inlaw and sis come up every fall from TX.

They are terrorists with "anchor babies" but eat lots of bush meat and goose.

From CNN breaking news mailing:

Standard & Poors says it could downgrade the U.S. credit rating in the next three months over the debt-ceiling impasse.

The credit rating agency said in a statement Thursday it was placing the United States' sovereign rating on "CreditWatch with negative implications."

"There is at least a one-in-two likelihood that we could lower the long-term rating on the U.S. within the next 90 days," the agency said
.
>+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

For sh!ts and giggles.
Now you're talking...LOL.
