Bet they’re trying to create policy to undo much of the damage of the last eight years….not saying everything Trudeau has touched since 2015 is bad, but much of it is…& hopefully that’ll be their (the Conservatives) focus.
How is that revenge? Is Lil Caesar's fighting back against Pizza Pizza for taking their slogan and turning it into a brand name?
I don't seek out friendships based on politics. I usually find out their politics after they are on my Facebook feed. I actually have a full representation of all parties among my friends. But the ones I refer to are grasping at staws and more anti-conservative than pro-Liberal.
It’s always kind of interesting to get a perception and perspective from the outside looking in (forest for the trees, sort of thing).
So from the highlights (lowlights?) that are interesting and important from the outside, the Iran Tweet thing was worth mentioning, but WE & SNC-Lavalin & Admiral Mark Norman & the non-Aga Kahn ethics scandals aren’t.
I don’t think we’re going to see an election before as late into 2025 as possible, unless Trudeau and figure out a way to time an election call so that it screws with Singh’s pension…or something completely unexpected and unforeseen can briefly make the winds of public perception swing positively (if even briefly) Trudeau’s way.
I just realized that’s “Part 3” in a video series…& I think I just found “Part 1”…

And Indigenous Bar Association member Christa Big Canoe says it runs the risk of seeing more Indigenous women kept behind bars if a proposed provision around intimidate partner violence is kept in place.
Representatives of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers and the Indigenous Bar Association are testifying before a Senate committee studying Bill C-48, which seeks to toughen up access to bail for certain repeat, violent offenders.
The legislation would expand reverse-onus provisions to include those who have a previous conviction or even a discharge relating an offence of intimate partner violence.
Big Canoe says Indigenous women who are victims of domestic violence are often charged by police when an officer responds to an incident, and shifting the onus to such women to prove why they should be released before trial carries the potential for harm.

WE had a pirate party. I even voted for them. Mainly because at an all candidates meeting he was the only one that told the truth. When asked what his party would do if they won the election, he said they would lie, cheat, and steal from us, just like everyone else.
I was also confident the Conservative would win the riding by a wide margin.
Not sure what the lawyers are saying here. I certainly sympathize with women that have to fight their way out of abusive relationships because we know the just us system won't protect them, do they need an excavator operator course so they can hide the evidence? I still believe Lorena Bobbitt should have gotten a medal instead of jail.
So…When will the October 2025 Federal Election take place? Good question…BUT the NDP/Liberal Party is confused as to whom is in Government at this point, and who are the actual Opposition….

Here’s a weird one. Maybe “Captain Divisiveness” is onto something here. I’m pulling data from Stats-Can, and it’s kind of shitty, but on the below map table, red is heating using Natural Gas:
Outside of BC, or west of Manitoba, hydroelectricity is minimal just because of reality. Below is estimates of Natural Gas usage by Province in Canada.
By exempting Heating Oil, that’s used in about 40% of households in the Maritime Provinces…& a tiny portion of rural Ontario, and pretty much nonexistent for all intensive purposes, through the rest of the country…this could be the beginning of an East/West divisive liberal ploy, like most pre-elections…and the way to demonize AB & SK in the eyes of Central & Eastern Canada again….Seriously, but only time will tell.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is standing firm that his government will not make any further exemptions to the carbon tax after announcing a three-year break on heating oil. Last week, Trudeau announced that the government would exempt heating oil from the carbon tax for three years. He said the pause is meant to give Canadians who use oil to heat their homes more time to switch to other sources, such as electric heat pumps.
Heat Pumps, on their own without another method to also heat homes like Natural Gas or Electric (if you happen to have affordable hydroelectric power) don’t work as a stand alone option in a Northern Mid-Continental Climate without large bodies of water to moderate the temperatures. I doubt I’d even be able to insure my home if I only had a Heat Pump for heating it.
Trudeau defended the decision to “only exempt heating oil” on Tuesday, arguing that it is more expensive than gas and propane and is generally used by low-income Canadians….in the Maritimes…& it exempts foreign (Saudi Arabian?) petroleum products but not Canadian ones. Sounds about right.
In addition to the carbon tax exemption, Trudeau also announced Thursday that his government would be topping up a grant program aimed at helping Canadians switch to using heat pumps to heat their homes and away from using fossil fuels.
So far “only” (?) the Atlantic provinces have signed up for the enhanced grant program. On Tuesday, Trudeau challenged Prairie premiers to join in on the program….where heating oil really isn’t a thing…
Can Trudeau spin this into a way to make AB & SK look like Uncaring Hillbilly whatever’s to split the vote East/West again instead of Clued In/Clueless???
The Liberals need another two years to stabilize their Keystone-cops cabinet, plot a new reason for their re-election and hope their Conservative nemesis squanders his huge polling lead with some major gaffes of his own.
Failing that, they desperately hope Justin Trudeau will read all this negative writing on the wall as his political obit — and quit.
It’ll be interesting to see how history views him in 50 or 100 years from now.
