I think if Alberians really want change, they should vote Liberal or NDP or even Green. I would really like to see that because the day after would be a riot to watch.
We have 'Evergreen' in a few ridings, but the Green party is now defunct in Ab.

Alberta election race tightens ahead of Monday vote

Alberta election race tightens ahead of Monday vote | CTV Edmonton

"According to the ThinkHQ poll, province-wide the Wildrose Party has lost 2 per cent support since the last poll and now holds the support of 41 per cent of those polled. The PCs, meanwhile, gained 4 per cent support for a total 33 per cent support province-wide."

"For the first time since the election began, the Progressive Conservatives are in the lead ahead of the Wildrose in Edmonton, gaining 2 per cent support for a total of 32 per cent support in the city."

What it all comes down to is that the leader of the Wildrose party has questionable leadership skills which becomes a liability for an oil rich province.

In the end, the race is between the moderately conservative PCs and the strongly conservative Wildrose. Ultimately, the equation will either remain as the status quo (PCs) or incorporate a more fiscally conservative party (Wildrose).

... Notice that the left-of-center parties don't even register in the polls?.. Kinda tells you something about how Albertans want the province run

You probably wouldn't notice them because they are generally pragmatic, common sense, down to earth, resourceful people............for instance if there's a way of converting an old toilet into a barbecue, they'll find it.

Myself - I think this will be a tight fight - Voter numbers will be higher then ever. A wild guess could be around 70 %.

It is a clear choice between WR and PC. Many and I think substantial numbers in tight ridings that would vote for another party (Lib-NDP)will pick PC over WR.

I cannot see Liberals / NDP in these riding going to WR. I do see them going to the PC's.

If the PC's win a minority with a few more seats than WR - Expect to see some elected PC's move to WR. In particular those that had close wins.

If WR wins a slight minority expect droves of PC's to cross the floor.

Libs and NDP may lose seats. Not sure of how well they did in their respective ridings from the last election.

But this election is a battle between WR and PC's

I'm growing increasingly impressed that the PCs have played so well on our fears. Most Albertans I know are content with fiscal conservatism. But the fact theyve highlighted is that the WR is made of members who are too far to the side of social conservatism to sit well with the populace.... members who felt the PC were too lefty. Few people live or work in a white, christian, homophobic environment anymore and most aren't willing to see Alberta swing back that way. The PC have done a good job of making it known that the WR represent everything that people fear the most about right wingers. They've played it extremely well when they come off looking liberal.

And what has the WR done about those hateful statements made by candidates? Free speech - Really - of course all parties play that game of fear and such.

But I see little from the WR that appeals to me.

Dani Bucks - Nope - Put that into savings as Norway did.

Climate Change - The science is not settled. In their mind -

I recall Ralphs slash and burn. And we do not need that again. Cuts yes- Slash and burn - no.

It's evidence of American style campaign techniques again.

I found it quite interesting to listen to my 6 grade daughter talk about the candidates in her school's constituency, and how they held a mock election in class, based on background information gathered on each candidate, the website for each candidate, etc. My daughter chose not to vote for WildRose based on the fact that she felt their whole campaign seemed based on promising expensive things, and being anti-PC. She felt they couldn't supply what they're promising without tax hikes (and she has decided she hates taxes), and she hates slag campaigns. lol. Pretty interesting to sit and listen to her views.

For me, part of my decision has been based around knowing people who work as support staff at the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, and hearing the headaches they have when dealing with their WR members. Essentially they treat support staff with derision at best. Which, to me, is telling.
