The Turks have always been tough. Not super-skilled, but tough.

Back in the day, they used to like to send a couple of F-84s out over the Black Sea, heading for the USSR. After a while, the Soviets would paint 'em, and scramble a couple of MiG-23s to intercept. The Turks had it figured out exactly where they needed to turn to get back to Turkey before the Floggers caught up. They'd get right down on the deck and beat feet for Turkey, with the Floggers in hot pursuit. They'd get to Turkey and pop up over the cliffs on the north shore. Half the time the Floggers would follow, into Turkish airspace, and find. . .

Half the Turkish Air Force waiting for them.

They never shot the Sovs down, but they loved scaring the hell out of 'em.

Our own Voodoo pilots used to play fun games with their Russian intercepts up North, like blinding their aircrews by shining gazillion candlepower search lights into their faces.

Yep, we'd do the same with Navy Phantoms out of Iceland, and of course over the Bering Strait. Good times.

Still, takes some balls to play cat-and-mouse with MiG-23s when you're in an F-84.

Perhaps the Russians better learn to respect borders now.

That's rich coming from a Yank.

According to your very own President, the plane was in Turkish territory for a matter of seconds (although I'm siding with the Russians who say it wasn't in Turkish territory at all). This was a massive overreaction by the trigger-happy Turks which could have grave global consequences.

Thanks to Canadians showing you how to attack Germany's fortified positions ay Vimy Ridge.

Nope. All thanks to the ingenious British inventing the tank and thereby breaking the stalemate in the trenches.

As for Vimy Ridge, it was British heavy artillery which saved the day.

Again thanks to Canadian sappers showing the way in Italy . And doing the heavy lifting in northern Europe .
Remember the Germans abandoning Dieppe at the Canadian approach .

It was the British and the Russians who won WWII.

It was the Russians in Europe.

No, it was the Russians and British in Europe.

And the whole shootin' match ended with a couple of real big booms.
Nope. Just the war in the Pacific against the Nips did. The war in Europe ended months before, thanks to the British and Russians.

They sure weren't Briddish booms.
That may well be, but Britain was doing research into producing nuclear weapons before any other country did.

Also, Britain's priority during the war was in Europe against the Hun and not in the Pacific against the Nips.

Those were Americans killing Japanese citizens, probably why they were locked up early as they might have revolted over that sort of 'action'. They would certainly be war crimes today as would Dresden.

I'm pretty sure 'nips' is a racial slur rather than it being a term of endearment. Nice to see the pot and the kettle having a civil chat, about who is better at killing civilians.

You said "WWII."

So, you were wrong. Again. Mostly through your Little Englander tunnel vision.

So, pretty normal day.

Yep. And I'm right. WWII. WWII was actually two wars rolled into one - one against Germany and one in the Pacific against the Yellow Peril.

As Germany constituted an existential threat to Britain and Europe, Britain's main fight was against Germany. And Germany was defeated thanks to Britain in the west - Britain's victory in the Battle of Britain and D-Day (a British planned and led operation) - and the Russians in the east.

Mostly through your Little Englander tunnel vision.
The term "Little Englander" is a tired and predictable phrase used by anti-English racists when they are losing an argument. I always like to point out to such people that the term "Little Englander" was originally used around 100 years ago to denote those people who were against the British Empire, before it became hijacked by anti-English bigots.

As I'm a supporter of the British Empire, I'm technically not a Little Englander.

English isn't a race. And Little Englander describes you perfectly. Just like the Old Stock Canadians and Real Americans. Narrow-minded, xenophobic, hypocritical, convinced despite all evidence that your patch is the source of all good in the world.

Right. Again, your attention meter just expired. You don't get much. Have an English day.

Bombing hospitals and getting their jets splashed by Turks is no way to win a war. lol

The Americans bombed the Hospital......

Doctors Without Borders continues to demand an independent war crimes probe of the U.S. bombing of its hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan.

Obama apologizes to Doctors Without Borders for U.S. bombing of hospital

After the Canadians showed them strategic shelling .

It was the Russians in Europe.

WWII had more than one theatre of operations.

And the whole shootin' match ended with a couple of real big booms.

They sure weren't Briddish booms.
They were Allied bombs the British played a large role in creating the Atomic bomb .
