The only way you are going to stop illegal immigration is to make the shit hole countries into good places to live and work.

The only way you are going to stop illegal drugs is to make the young people in America not want to take drugs.

It is a consumption side problem, not a supply side problem -

But these things are difficult to fix and therefore concentrate on some bullshit.

THAT would make a significant difference. as that would be the CORE of the issue.

As the US has facilitated much of the disaster in these countries .......it might be up to the US to take responsibility and offer assistance to help these places evolve into something liveable

The solution might just be in eliminating the need to flee in the first place.

What the narrow minded folks in Trump world don'ts seem to realities is that when a wall i s created..........the desire to cross it one way or another is intensified . Red flag to a bull type thing.. That is just human nature.

One can see people getting shot /killed for doing just that.

Looks like they bought into the propaganda just like most of Central and South America. Home of the brave, land of the free my ass.

Much more likely they are simply trying to escape poverty and terror in their home countries. A good deal of which can be blamed on US past policies.

They aren't seeking asylum when they jump the border Cliff.

How is travelling illegally through several countries and then jumping the US border illegally good for a child?

The Vietnamese Boat People were willing to risk death to get out of Vietnam.

"The boat people's first destinations were the Southeast Asian countries of British Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. External tensions stemming from Vietnam's dispute with Cambodia and China in 1978 and 1979 caused an exodus of the majority of the Hoa people, of whom more than 170,000 fled overland into the province of Guangxi, China, from the North; the remainder fled by boat from the South. This new influx brought the number of refugees in China to around 200,000.[1] In addition, the Vietnamese military also began expelling ethnic Hoa from Vietnam-occupied Kampuchea, leading to over 43,000 refugees of mostly Hoa descent fleeing overland to Thailand.[2] By 1980, the refugee population in China reached 260,000,[3] In 2013, Hoa people made up 11.5 percent of the Vietnamese-American population[4]"

Lots went to Australia. Lots went to Canada. It appears it is a conceit to think that everyone wants to go to America.
They went to those other places but America was first choice . Most hadn’t even heard of Canada, until Canadian officials went to those camps .

... so YOU say ...
Well George I have many friends in the ex pat Vietnamese community , and all to a man were trying to get into America . Laotian friends in the refugee camps waiting to get into America heard Canada was taking in refugees .they knew nothing of Canada only that it was next to the States. Both groups are happy in Canada but we were never their destination of choice .

You are thinking of the recent past how about looking back to when Stalin was trying to set all these countries up in the communist system, to have the enemy at the U.S. doorstep. Only successful coupe was Cuba at the time, the ideology is still there and helping to rip countries apart with rebels and what not, see Venezuela.

Do they not do an investigation in the light of these convictions to make sure the children are safe, also are the children not handed over to children services while parents are being held for their court date in both the U.S. and Canada?

Cliffy how many were permitted workers vs Illegal workers that took over the farming jobs?
