House sends Trump $19.1 billion disaster aid bill, clearing the way to passage after months of delays

President Trump is expected to sign the measure, sending federal aid to states and territories hit by flooding, wildfires, tornadoes, hurricanes and other natural disasters in recent months. The House overwhelmingly approved the measure, which the Senate last month passed with bipartisan support.

JUST IN:
Mueller’s ‘Star Witness’ George Nader Indicted on Child Porn Charges

George Nader, a Lebanese-American businessman and one of Mueller’s ‘star witnesses’ has been indicted on child pornography charges.

Robert Mueller previously investigated whether George Nader, an advisor to the United Arab Emirates, was influencing U.S. policy, the New York Times reported in March of 2018 — Nader was reportedly interviewed by the Special Counsel’s team twice.

Mueller wanted to interview Nader after he supposedly helped arrange a January 2017 meeting in the Seychelles between Blackwater founder Erik Prince and a Russian official.

Nader fled the country last year and flew to the United Arab Emirates to go into hiding after his decades-old child molestation charges were revealed.

House Democrats plan sweeping antitrust investigation of Facebook, Google and other technology giants

The probe announced Monday is expected to be far-reaching and could result in hearings, document requests and other demands that would put Silicon Valley's business practices on public display at a time when Republicans and Democrats are in rare agreement that the tech giants have been unregulated for too long.

Maybe, they should change the locks on the White House while U-No-Hoo is nicking the towels in Buck House.

Do Americans Know How Much Trouble They’re In?

Why America is at a Crossroads in History — and There Might Not be Any Way Back to Normal, Sane, or Civilized

A President who invokes absolute authority to…pardon himself. An ambassador to Germany who declares he wants to…topple the German government. Senators — the most powerful people in democracy, save the President — knocking on the door of a “detainment center”, looking for kids separated from their parents, only to be denied by guards who…laugh at them contemptuously, call the police, and have them shooed away like nobodies.
Do Americans understand how much trouble they’re now in? How grave the threat to America’s constitutional democracy, its civil society, its place in the world, and its ongoing survival is? Now. When I ask this question, you’ll protest: “Of course I do!” (or perhaps “You’re overstating it!!”, in which case the answer is already…no.) But I don’t mean you, yourself. I am asking you to ask yourself about everyone else, perhaps the mythical average American.
Here is a truth you would probably rather not hear.
America is at a crossroads. A point of no return. A democratic society cannot really survive the three assaults above, and go on being one. They may seem like just daily events in the ongoing sad saga of a troubled nation — but they are not just that. They contain great significance to history, which I feel American intellectuals are doing a poor job of interpreting and presenting to the American people. Let me take them one by one.
When a society has a leader who claims to not just be above the law — but to be the law — then such a society cannot be a democracy, or a constitutional republic, a res publica, the “public affair” of the classical Greeks. When a leader has absolute power, then rights cannot be said to exist, and there is no point to voting, representation, or legislation. If the will of the people, or their representatives, can be abrogated at any time, by a leader who can “pardon” anyone absolutely for anything, beginning with himself, then democracy ceases to matter in any way whatsoever — that is how you get to “90% of people vote for Putin!”, every single election.

It is doubtful........most believe what they want to believe. They have been programmed to "support" their POTUS.......no matter how crazy or ineffectual he is. It is their flag waving duty.... This is why it is so easy for them to slide into an autocracy ...and not even see it happening.

What happens when Trump leaves?

Does the next guy simply pick up where he left off or does the next guy try to start the impossible task of undoing the damage?

The only way out now is to default on the national debt. Reset everything to 0.

I imagine when the next guy (gal) takes over in 2025, it will probably be like a holiday for a year as everything important will likely be done. The wall will be built and the bad guys will be in jail.

A roaring economy, foreign policy in good order, money in everyone’s pockets, and the deficit dwindling.

House passes bill offering a path to citizenship to more than 2 million undocumented immigrants, including young dreamers

The legislation would grant 10 years of legal residency status to young immigrants brought to the country as minors, if they meet certain requirements. They would then receive permanent green cards after completing at least two years of higher education or military service, or after working for three years.

The Republican-led Senate is not expected to act on the House measure, which was crafted by Democrats.

Alabama Mayor Calls for Killing LGBTQ People in Facebook Post

An Alabama mayor has posted comments on Facebook about killing LGBTQ people, then tried to deny the post was his, but finally admitted it.
Carbon Hill Mayor Mark Chambers posted a graphic that read, “We live in a society where homosexuals lecture us on morals, transvestites lecture us on human biology, baby killers lecture us on human rights and socialists lecture us on economics.” It has now been removed, but Birmingham TV station WBRC captured a screen shot.
A Facebook friend of his commented, “By giving the minority more rights than the majority. I hate to think of the country my grandkids will live in unless somehow we change and I think that will take a revolution.” Chambers responded to that comment by saying, “The only way to change it would be to kill the problem out. I know it’s bad to say but without killing them out there’s no way to fix it.”
WBRC called Chambers, who first claimed the post was on someone else’s page, then ended the conversation. Then he called back and said the comment was meant to be a private message to his friend. He also said, “I never said anything about killing out gays or anything like that.” Then the reporter read the post back to him, and he said, “That’s in a revolution. That’s right! If it comes to a revolution in this country both sides of these people will be killed out.”
During the conversation, Chambers further called immigrants “ungrateful” and said the U.S. is in a state of civil war. He complained about his Facebook page being public, but Facebook users control what others can see. He later changed the page’s setting to private.
Chambers has been mayor of Carbon Hill, a northern Alabama town of fewer than 2,000 people, since 2014.

What was in the bill to fix the crux of the problem? Trump has offered pathway to citizenship to dreamers a few times the Dems. did not accept.

No he didn't. But you keep on believing that now, hear?

For those of you who aren't dedicated MAGAhats, what Trump offered was a short-term continuation of DACA, not a pathway to citizenship. I'm not sure if Moosie made up that lie himself, or copied it from somebody else, but it's a lie.

And by the way, wonder what Dumb Donald was asking in return for short-term DACA extensions? The Trump Monument Wall, of course. Funny how that little factoid didn't make it into Moosie's summary, ain't it?
