New York – U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday offered a prayer that the nation will begin to come together after one of the most acrimonious campaigns in decades.

"It is my prayer, that on this Thanksgiving, we begin to heal our divisions and move forward as one country, strengthened by a shared purpose and very, very common resolve," he said in a brief video released on the eve of the holiday.

"Emotions are raw and tensions just don't heal overnight," Trump acknowledged.

The Republican real estate mogul unexpectedly defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton on Nov. 8 following a contest filled with insults, mutual recriminations and heated rhetoric.

Trump said the nation must strive to "restore the bonds of trust between citizens. Because when America is unified, there is nothing beyond our reach, and I mean absolutely nothing."

The president-elect and his family will spend the Thanksgiving holiday at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

everyone just needs to relax and calm down. the Christmas holidays will be upon soon, a welcome New Year with great hope ahead, then Donald Trump will finally be taking back the oval office.

the nation should chill and give the man a chance. everyone knows he's smart and will get sh!t done, especially with the Republican control over the houses and the upcoming supremes.

it'll be ok. have a nice breather. there's plenty of time to get mad again if you want to I suppose.

it's a simple news story appeal for unity...I think everybody should be able to agree on this non-agenda point.

A whole lot of attitudes will have to change before there is unity in the nation.
It would be a first step if people would stop identifying themselves by hyphenated nationalities; African Americans, Mexican Americans, Muslim Americans, etc. have to start thinking of themselves as Americans first.
Politicians will have to stop separating various groups by referring to them as 'disadvantaged'. Give all people equal opportunity for adequate access to education, apply the law equally, etc. Then it is up to the individual to become 'advantaged' or not.
People can respect and learn about history without living with past resentments.

I'm thinking of the recent issue of the Confederate Flag as an example. Imo, that flag should not be hidden. It is a part of history. you don't have to like that flag or what it stands for but to forbid any display of it has a part in changing history.
If this were done with every part of history that we disagree with, there would be no museums or only those which displayed relics of positive progress.

Hope this makes sense to somebody.

Best to ignore him , when he stops getting attention he will go away .
Sooner or later you'll realize I'm not here for attention. I'm here to make fun of simpletons. Why do you think the Trumpites and Flossy don't like me.

I suppose the best judge of simpletons would be one with the most experience being one, but then I can only guess at that. :) :)

Unity gets some help from a Judge.
Judge tell immigrants at a Citizenship ceremony if they can't accept Donald Trump as their President they had better move to another country.
Judge urges new citizens to leave US if can't accept Trump

What I can't figure out is why he waited until after they were US citizens? Why not tell them up front. Trump's your Pres......like it or leave. And since when do non-US citizens get to vote which these folks would have been at the time of the election?

I don't know if he told them before or after the oath.
I don't know if they voted but they were protesters.

The biggest form of unification right now would be to get rid of Bannon. People are willing to forgive Trump because he is not perceived as a mean bud. And leave Rudi at home.

As formidable as Trump may seem, when you to consider what the alternative could have been, one just feels downright relieved! Methinks he'll clean up a lot of sh*t! :)

If it wasn't Bannon who ever else was in his place would get the same treatment . Racist pig , as all republicans are .
