I guess jobs don't matter to conservatives?

No jobs will be lost. If SNC closes its doors, the work doesn’t go away. The staff will work for others. Trudeau’s real problem is that those others might not be handing cash over to the Liberals

If SNC was headquartered in Alberta, Trudeau wouldn't give two shits about whether it lived or died, let alone whether it received a DPA or not.

You're suggesting Albertan industry doesn't contribute to the Liberal party?

It's how they got the work.

Must have been. At the end of my career I worked at a high security port installation as a security officer. Construction was on-going with SNC as the engineering company in charge.

I wouldn't hire them to build a bird house.

This is just pathetic.

The prime minister doesn't love us as much as he loves Quebec.

If you like reading long ones, here is another !!

:
Subject: sunny ways or shady ways?

I have no idea who wrote this but they’ve done their homework…!

I hope you can find the time this weekend to read this important political commentary. This is not just another partisan rant, although a recap of Trudeau’s record did seem appropriate and would have included his government’s accomplishments, if could recall any! But seriously, Canada was arguably a country of laws, or perhaps that’s been a mirage that Trudeau has done us the favour or disservice, depending on point of view, of destroying?
The Irving, Desmarais, Bombardier & McCain (Morneau by marriage) families, along with SNC Lavalin, Quebec Inc. and whomever holds the premiership of Quebec, own the Liberal Party of Canada and always have. This is why Quebec has always been the most powerful and entitled of tails, wagging the complacent Canadian dog.

Trudeau would have us believe his judicial interference was all about protecting 9,000 supposed jobs? Like these contracts wouldn't have, or couldn’t have, been awarded if no SNC Lavalin? No other Canadian engineering groups exists besides this corrupt entity that the Liberals keep rewarding with billions in subsidies and contracts? Construction workers wouldn't be hired if not for SNC’s existence? Does he really think Canadians are that stupid?

And let’s dispel the “you have to bribe to get contracts in certain jurisdictions” argument for cutting SNC some slack. This may be true, but Libya is far from SNC Lavalin’s only malfeasance. Let's not forget SNC was convicted in 2018 for over $100,000 plus of illegal contributions (bribes) to Federal Liberal Party members? And that SNC was deeply connected to the Porter scandal and the corruption associated with Montreal's new general Hospital. Or that they are currently under RCMP investigation for corruption related to the recently rebuilt Champlain bridge in Montreal. Never mind SNC expensing $2 million for Qadhafi’s son while entertaining in Canada for security details, concerts, hotels and prostitutes on Canadian soil. Btw, this went over really well with our CAF pilots tasked with bombing Libya. And how does SNC’s buying Qadhafi’s prostitutes fit with Mr. Feminist’s disparaging comments towards Alberta oil workers, suggesting that sex workers follow work camps?

This is simply Federal Liberal Quebec politics per usual and the Liberal party’s corrupt and seemingly eternal hold over Quebec and by extension Canada, being clearly illuminated for even the most truly blind partisan Liberal. As Cohen sang, “there is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in”
And, 90,000 energy job losses in Alberta don’t matter a damn to this government. No liberal votes out there folks!
So, let’s do a quick review of things Canadians shouldn’t forget about this charlatan;
• Let's not forget the Trudeau Foundation? The mini-Clinton globalist drama teacher plays this money grab to the hilt with millions flowing in from Chinese billionaires after his "play for pay" dinners? Wouldn’t it be interesting to know what SNC Lavalin has contributed?
• Let's not forget his slimy Minister of Finance, Bill Morneau screwing over small corporations with his passive income tax grab, while conveniently selling 680,000 Morneau-Shepell shares just days before changing Canada's Pension laws.
• Let’s not forget Trudeau’s greasy pal Gerald Butts, the brains behind Trudeau, who bailed on McGinty before his government blew-up, who’s disastrous energy policy saddled Ontario with the highest sub-national debt in the world.
• Let's not forget about his sleazy Agha Kahn vacation, breaking every ethical and conflict of interest rule in the book.

• His India dress-up fiasco with a convicted terrorist among his delegation and then trying to blame the PM of India, who didn’t bother to even greet him on what turned out to be a very expensive taxpayer family adventure tour.

• His very avoidable foreign affair disasters with our 2 biggest trading partners, America & China. Backstabbing Trump when promises were made at the G7. But more egregiously, admitting he knew about the Meng (Weiwei) arrest before it happened, making the bogus claim that this most political of actions (the Justice Minister makes the final call on extradition) was simply following the “rule of law” which Trump quickly made a mockery by wedging her into his trade dispute with China. This never should have happened, as even prominent senior Liberals admit.

• His welcome to Canada tweet and the silliness of our refugee policy suggesting those that cross the border between customs are “irregulars” and not “illegals”. George Orwell would be proud!

• His refusal to revoke the citizenship of returning ISIS fighters and the RCMP’s lack of ability to lay charges.

• His payment of $10.5 million to Omar Kadri in such a way as to thwart the American widow seeking to sue. Kadri’s mother & sister had already appeared on video denouncing Canada while declaring their support for ISIS

• His meeting with Boyle and his wife in the PM’s office, even though their journey and bogus story on being kidnapped was highly suspect. Boyle had been married to Kadri’s self-identified terrorist sympathizing sister and he is now in jail for beating and drugging his wife.

• His explanation to charges of groping a woman being “I do not feel that I acted inappropriately in any way. But I respect the fact that someone else might have experienced that differently” WTF...from our champion of feminism?

• His “the budget will balance itself” adding $100 million of additional national debt over his mandate and his own government releasing numbers that would indicate the budget won’t be balanced until 2041...some balancing? And we have what to show for these expenditures?

• His tweeting $50 million pledge to a B star American actor raising money for some third world woman & daughters group, just to get some attention on TV. Meanwhile, our veterans get stiffed.
• Peoplekind

• His cancelling Northern Gateway and Energy East pipelines leaving only one option, forcing him to spend $4.5 billion to buy Kinder Morgan only to see it too go up in regulatory flames. We could hear the champagne corks popping all the way from Texas. His Bill C-69 will only exacerbate regulatory approvals with downstream emissions & gender BS. So, its ok to ship 750,000 plus barrels per day to the east coast (Irvings) by tanker from nefarious regimes who have no environmental standards, but disallow tankers for the Northern Gateway pipeline. Let’s face the facts, if Quebec had oil, we would have pipelines running all over this country.

• His making outrageous promises to Indigenous Canadian’s who can only once again feel deceived by the white man with forked tongue. And look what happened with the “Truth & Reconciliation” farce.

• His apologizing for every conceivable historical grievance under the sun. Is there anything left?

• His legalizing marijuana long before the country was ready, suggesting it was to “protect the kids” REALLY? But no worries, the Indigenous peoples will have a field day supplying the market as they already do with cigarettes, and I say all the power to them. But, as a result of marijuana legislation, they passed Bill C-46 that allows police unprecedented powers in impaired driving apprehensions (even in the sanctity of our homes) which will cause considerable misery before being constitutionally struck down as it must be ,if we can even remotely claim to not being a Police State.

• His promising a government of “transparency” slamming Harper’s ways, vowing to “never introduce an omnibus bill” and then did just that with the SNC Lavalin intended DPA (get out of jail free card) buried within an omnibus bill.

• His promising a more open and accessible PMO, suggesting the problem started with his father but soon ushering in Gerald Butts as his Principle Secretary causing many Liberals to grumble his office is manically controlled by Butts & Telford.

• His Chief of Staff Telford, saying she could “provide cover” for JWR to break the law, by arranging op-ed articles “saying what she was doing re SNC DPA was proper”...WTF, if that doesn’t get your attention, you should move to China or Russia. This from a government who the CBC already salivates over with their juicy extra funding and a government that is now subsidizing print journalism. No dots to connect here folks?

• His $300 plus million taxpayer gift to the inept Bombardier, because “aerospace was so vital to the Canadian economy” who promptly gave their board $50 million in bonuses (virtually all family members) and then ended up selling the C-Series to Airbus. Trudeau’s business acumen obviously didn’t include a clause for “job protection” since only taxpayers monies.

• And his carbon tax with its first phase kicking in April 1st, that will do nothing for the environment (Canada is 1.6% of world carbon output) while hurting those that need to use the most energy living outside Liberal dominated cities. Further, since neither of our two largest trading partners have such a tax, it further impairs our abilities to compete. And, anyone who thinks Trudeau will continue to rebate this tax after he he’s reelected, probably hasn’t read this far.

• His...ok, that’s enough, or will be here all night, suffice to say he’s a Conservative’s gift that keeps on giving...only, it’s not so funny anymore.

Trudeau was the anti-Harper choice for Canadians that I’ve admittedly never understood. But so what, he’s a Liberal, the “natural governing party of Canada” and it was inevitable that they would be back. He also seemed clueless and awfully naive with his prancing around the world playing Mr. Environment, (even flying the largest contingent of any nation to the Paris climate change gabfest) trying to insert gender, environment and workers’ rights into trade talks with countries like China who could give a rats ass. But still, it all seemed rather harmless, if not irritating that this decidedly not serious or grown-up man was prattling on this way, because Canada, in my opinion, hasn’t been a truly serious country in decades, other than regulating its citizens to death.

But, this is no longer a joke, he is actually becoming quite dangerous to Canada. Not only is he fanning the divisions of our country between East & West (have you read Alberta newspapers lately) while pitting Indigenous peoples against each other, and their governments, with countless energy related lawsuits.

BUT, if he can interfere in the Justice system on behalf of a seriously corrupt entity for clearly partisan purposes, he can also lean on the Justice system to litigate other entities or people with whom he has a vendetta.

Sound farfetched?

Isn’t this banana republic stuff?

Perhaps, but watch Vice-Admiral Mark Norman’s legal proceedings very closely. This was a witch hunt with Trudeau, Irving & Scott Brison (former President of the Treasury board) fingerprints all over it. This fine military officer, unique in Canadian history for delivering a warship on time and on budget, is made a scapegoat for cabinet leaks that exposed Irving interference and Trudeau complicity. Trudeau thought he would screw Norman by refusing him government legal defense funds generally available to military officers of the crown, only to have a Go Fund Me campaign pay for the services of the brilliant Marie Henein, who will leave no stone unturned. In fact, my bet is that this could well be the next shoe to drop on our dumbass PM’s head when the bogus “solicitor/client privilege” muzzle is finally removed from Jody Wilson Raybould. She will know all about the prosecution’s extremely dubious case.

How ironic that our halo-bound Liberal Prime Minister, proud feminist, defender of minority rights, inclusivity, advocate for transparency, apologist for centuries of wrongdoings to the Indigenous, was morally eviscerated by such a strong willed, meticulously prepared Indigenous woman and now has another very strong feminist opponent in Maria Henein perhaps finishing the job. Good riddance to that smug hypocrite. Professor Jordon Peterson’s brilliant evisceration of his character is must see video.

Sunny ways?...more like "shady ways" while proving a most unfortunate stooge for the "king makers" of Canada. Like "House of Cards" they forgot to consider that the wrong designate can create havoc to their entitled ways.
P.S. I purposely Bcc’d the few liberals still talking to me and would welcome how they might still consider voting for this imbecilic twit who still thinks invoking the scary Stephen Harper, as the satanic master of the Conservative party, isn’t growing a tad stale? In fact, vote Green, NDP, Max Bernier for all I care, but rewarding this smarmy, smug, entitled little prick, would truly be a sad day for this once great nation.

Could have spent it supporting displaced oilpatch wokers instead.

could have spent it on alternative energy that will actually be useful in the future, rather than on oil which will be obsolete.

I'm suggesting that the Prime Minister of Quebec doesn't care about Alberta beyond being a revenue source to buy votes in Quebec.
Presumably this refers to transfer payments.
Any interaction where money changes hands can be viewed cynically, with attribution of despicable motives to either party - or not. In political issues it just depends which side someone is trying to bolster. Whether this kind of rhetoric has bearing on actual fact, or is fair judgement about the appropriateness of a transaction, is seldom clear.
