We been screwed out of growing it because Big Pharma don't like competition and own the politicians.
Hemp bum fluff would be twice as rough as gas station single ply.

We been subsidizing car manufacturing in Ontario and Bombardier in Quebec for decades already.
It isn't a good investment. No ones going to be able to afford vehicles once the taxes are raised to pay for all the free money handouts.
... But subsidizing aerospace and auto mfg that absolutely depend on fossil fuels for lubricants, plastics and ~ wait for it ~ the base fuel source is the height of economic sense.
Oil isn't subsidized. Those autos and parts sure are.

Recently, a friend of mine (his wife) blew the engine on her Denali Hybrid... A freak occurrence as the vehicle was a 2013 and had just over Just over 100k.
The dealership indicated that a special hybrid engine (replacement) would cost approx $8,000 (installed) and she should expect that the batteries would need replacing in a couple of years to the tune of an extra $6,000.
Needless to say, she went out and bought a cadillac

That said, she did have a sweet deal with the old hybrid (flex fuel), some of the larger shopping malls have special parking (right out front) for flex fuel cars.
It was hilarious as this beast of a Denali got special privileges over the standard greentards that went to that same mall.
