Yes. If I were PM of Canada and the majority of Parliament except me voted to increase government spending, then yes, I would support tax increases while opposing the spending increases.

Then what purpose would you have as none one in Parliament agrees or supports you.

Resign and save the taxpayer your salary and pension

I would see no contradiction in that since in my view, taxes ought to dovetail with the debt.

I still don't get your logic unless those tax increases go exclusively to paying down the debt

If Parliament voted to significantly reduce government spending, then I'd start to explore the possibility of lowering taxes. That's what we call being responsible.

You say it's responsible, I say it's a sh*tty plan that will not generate any real traction

Money talks and bullsh*t walks bud

Now you're confusing socialism with nationalism and capitalism with internationalism. Some more socialistic states are very much in favour of free trade. Take Sweden for example. Likwise, a mostly capitalist state can be very protectionist. Take the USA of the 1930's for example. Capitalism is not synonymous with nationalism any more than socialism is with internationalism.

Long story short, he's just totally confused. :) :) Happens to people who aren't overly bright! :) :)

...says the guy who begins every rebuttal with the word "trumpite". You need a new angle.

When your vocabulary consists of 10 words, there's not much maneuverability.

His true colours were always there to see for anyone who wasn't blind. He's a vapid, pseudo-intellectual idiot. Always has been, always will be.

Yeah, that about sums it up! :) Sure wish there was a way to trade him for Trump!

OTTAWA - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the 2016-2017 New Year’s Eve was “150 years in the making and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ring in the New Year together.”

But Trudeau was not in the country he leads at it marked the beginning of it’s 150th anniversary year.

He and his family were out of the country on holiday, his office said, at an undisclosed location.

During his first New Year's Eve as prime minister, Trudeau took his family to the Caribbean island of Nevis and St. Kitts. While that trip was not publicized, journalists on the island quickly recognized the Canadian PM and published stories and photos.

Trudeau holidays in another country as Canada begins celebrating 'once-in-a-life

I guess staying home for a "once in a life time opportunity" is only for us lowly pions.

That wasn't a question. No wonder you vote the way you do.

Seriously, if it's not okay for our PM to vacation outside the country, you have to believe that it's not okay for your Pres to vacation outside your country.

It's such a stupid thing to get annoyed about, it's hilarious. Like worrying about how many times the President plays golf. Every President gets criticized for golfing, as if it's something new or partisan.

God, you'd think there weren't any issues to worry about, the way you go on.

They didn't like it when Obama went to that foreign country for vacations.......Hawaii..........Of course he was just going there to make sure he got someone to make that Birth Certificate........

Man... Trudeau groupies will defend him at all costs even though he thinks St. Kits is a better place than Canada.

Man Trumpites are a sniffily bunch. I can only imagine how bad it's going to get when the tariffs hit.

So, your point is that the PM should never be allowed to vacation outside the country?

A more astute point be our pm should hang around ottawa at least long enough to check his nations pulse, he, his family, nannies and assorted cronies have jetted all over the globe during his short reign. If I recall his whitehouse steak and coffee visit set us back around a 1/4mil, big ticket for a photo op with a lame duck honcho. One would hope he could at least tame his wanderlust long enough to kick off this 'once in a lifetime' birthday party but warm sand obviously trumps snow.
Bumbadeer has attained the coveted too big to fail status, if they go tits up it'd put qc in the dumpster so canada is obliged to unconditionally float it never mind they never ever meet commitments, TO is still waiting on streetcars. I dunno shouldn't we wait til trump is in harness before taking him to task?

Man, Trump is living rent free in your head. In a thread about Trudeau being on vacation AGAIN, you've brought up Trump at least twice, and both times it was appropos of nothing.

So, your point is that the PM should never be allowed to vacation outside the country?
Christ, how about he actually spend some time IN the country doing his f*cking job instead of acting like it's cutting into his personal fun time. 4 vacations in 14 months after living a life that's pretty much been one long vacation. Yep, great f*cking choice for a PM.

As for vacationing outside of the country, all that flying around can NOT be good for global warming. Nice to know we'll all get to pay the carbon costs for Captain Neverhome's jet setting ways.

Let's see here, I don't drive anymore so I don't own a car. My electricity is derived from 99.7% GHG-free power generation. All of my appliances are energy efficient. My carbon footprint is tiny, even when you factor in the food my family and I eat. And yet I'll get to pay more for everything all while some trust-fund a$$wipe who decided on a national carbon tax/pricing scam, can't seem to go much more than 3 months without piling his family into a goddam plane and flying off somewhere.

Who cares?

Why not focus on a real issue. It's like all those whining about how many times Bush played golf, or Clinton played golf, or Obama played golf.

Focus on the accomplishments and results.

If you think Trudeau is such a horrible PM, isn't it better that he spend more time away from Ottawa then?

EagleSmack has obviously never been to St Kitts or Ottawa in winter, if he even thinks there's a question about which one is better.

Why not actually pick an issue, or do you all figure there are no other problems with Trudeau other than his winter vacation (like about half the population does around here)

I think it's time to be getting one thing straight........................Trudeau does NOT represent CANADIANS or their values. I do agree he should be able to take holidays wherever he likes.........................TWO weeks a year like most Canadians, who are new at a job!

Focus on the accomplishments and results.

I agree, what are they? Running a bill like his old man?
