Prisons don't make people soft and gentle...It makes them tougher, meaner and offers the best networking opportunities possible. Works great for the US because they have a for profit prison industry that needs repeat offenders in order for money to be made.
I hope Canada goes the way Scandinavian countries have. Works better for all concerned, unless you require revenge in order to get along in life.
