On another note the only eggs I like right now are President choice organic.
Forget about the omega fish fed eggs to get Omega in there. lol

Omega 3 eggs aren't a result of feeding fish to chickens, they add flax seed to the chicken feed. Not all omega 3 comes from fish, and not all omega 3 fatty acids are the same. Fish sourced omega 3 has more eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid, while flax seed will have lots of α-linolenic acid.

Quote RCS: " The only problem with that is that these exporters, mainly in Asia, are breeding 90% of those exported shrimp in cesspools with very little quality control."

Shi tty deal. (we are what we eat)

But.

If they're raised in cesspools, no need for quality control.

just sayin. ;-)

If the shrimp get inspected the same way Alta. beef get inspected, we're all fukked..........

Shi t - fed shrimp. wooopee.

Do the Orientals eat this stuff, or just food imported from the West?

We ship prawns, oysters and salmon by air to to Asia every day. What does that tell you?

Spotted prawns are from the BC coast. Do NOT eat any sea food that comes from Asia. You should be able to get BC shrimp at the seafood stores in Nanaimo.

THe local health food store should have organic tofu. Costs more than the Frankenfood though.

We have a public market every Friday where you can literally buy everything from soup to nuts. When available you can buy B.C.
prawns, crabs etc. I just talked to a person who sells seafood products at the market and it sounds like we in Nanaimo are fortunate
to have great, shi- free, chemical free seafood available.

What do you mean? I'm a Johnny Canuck in the middle of the Canadian Prairie, 'bout as far
away from an ocean as anyone can be. I like shrimp. I eat it often.
This prairie boy has crab and prawn traps in storage at my aunt's in Sechelt.

I make damn good use of them when on the coast which is 3-4 times a year.

This summer I'm going to be terrorizing prairie crayfish. I had my first taste last fall and I'm hooked.

Most sport-shoppers don't know, nor do they care, where their 'prawns', or other seafood comes from. Captain Hindgrinder died long ago but if his box is on sale at Loblaws that's good enough.

mass produced food is gross and unsanitary, period. If you don't listen to what they are actually talking about, just the details of 'overcrowded, full of feces, necessitating large quantities of anti-biotic'....would you be able to tell what the farmed critter was? I wouldn't, because it applies to so many.

I don't eat store bought fish or sefood. I have plenty of options for fishing within 20-60 minutes from my door.

10mins if I wanted to do it illegally in the park downtown.

I can't remember when I read a post so full of idiotic bull anywhere on the net.

Coming up soon on this miasma-some dork will repost the garbage about barns full of headless chickens.

Ok so a salesman in charge of distribution for all of Canada in the largest distribution American company of organics is pulling my leg at a family table.

Instead of following the crowd of people who just like to type negativity ,hatred, bigotry, and racism, why not discuss.
Too much to ask.

If you believe what some low life salesman says that's your problem.

Discuss what?

You believe some fool who lies for a living and expect others to take you seriously?

I know a helluva lot more about China than you and at least 40% of the people who live here are Chinese-and they aren't nearly as naive/gullible as you.
Yes according to CSIS many of you are infiltrating every aspect of the world's lives to promote basically your propaganda.
Now do not even allude to the idea have anything against the Chinese people them selves.

I have everything against the butchering Communist party though.

The OP is only part of the story.

Another part is how global warming, rising sea levels and flooded farmland have led many Asian farmers to abandon rice in favor of shrimp farming:

Another part is how global warming, rising sea levels and flooded farmland...

Now there is some serious malarky a tsunami and typhoon flooded Thailand and left brackish flooded farmland.

They made lemonade when handed lemons.

I kind of thought so but since I don't shop and don't get into Nanaimo all that often except for a few suppliers and a bud that lives on Stewart ave.

Just another one of the many financial benefits of global warming. Shrimp is a much more valuable and less labour intensive crop than rice. taste better as well.

A friend of mine directed me to a documentary on fish/shrimp etc farming in China years ago. One viewing was all it took for me to stop buying fish in a grocery store. I am lucky to have neighbors who fish in Canim Lake for trout and kokanee every summer and often send extras my way. As far as meat - bison, venison and elk and locally raised turkey and chickens are my staples - also haven't touched pork in years. I buy eggs from a local lady who raises her own chickens.
