Toronto values a coyote over a human baby

In a past couple of weeks a small part of Toronto known as The Beaches have been terrorized by a coyote roaming the ravine behind the high priced homes where a number of cats and small dogs have gone missing.

A week ago a man witnessed in horror when his small dog who was in the backyard watch helplessly when the coyote hopped the fence and grab his little dog and jumped the fence running into the ravine, the man did get a picture of it with his cell phone camera before the sudden attack.

Toronto’s gutless mayor and his councilors are refusing to do anything and are telling the residents not to use their backyards until the coyote leaves the area.

This means that the city of Toronto will not act until a human baby is taken and eaten.

Toronto wants to raise property taxes four percent for doing nothing.

The mayor of Toronto is a staunch NDP supporter, which gives you an idea what the federal NDP would do if they ever got into power, nothing

Because the attack on Zoe happened during the day, within steps of her owner, city officials have stepped in. They are searching for the den that may contain as many as two animals, interviewing residents and trying to decide whether the animals need to be removed.
"We are quite concerned," said Eletta Purdy, manager of Toronto Animal Services.
"It's different if the dog is at the back of the yard."
Purdy said hunting small animals is part of normal coyote behaviour.
She said when coyotes cross paths with humans, the city has four options. The first is education, encouraging residents to keep an eye on their garbage and watch smaller pets.
"We think this is perhaps beyond that stage," said Purdy.
The second option is using a humane trap, which Purdy described as extremely difficult.
Next they can make the areas the animals frequent uncomfortable. Purdy would not go into details to avoid the possibility of residents taking the matter into their own hands.
The final option is hiring someone to come in and shoot the animal.

Well, if you live in Toronto, and have a baby, don't leave it outside and
unattended in February then I guess. Wait, wouldn't that be common
sense? Oh well....

In most places Coyotes are considered a nuisance animal. They're not a
big animal and their prey is usually from the Cat/Rabbit size down to mice.
If you have a dog small enough to be prey to a Coyote, you should also be
very concerned about Eagles, Owls, and Ravens (does Toronto have Ravens?).

I guess if you're going to leave a baby outside and unattended, you should also
worry about these predators also, along with Social Services and many other
Government and Law Enforcement agencies.

Coyotes are very clever animals, used to living in extremely close quarters to man, and adept at avoiding him.

New Brunswick is full of them. I travel in the bush some, and I hear coyotess very near me often, dozens and dozens of times. I always carry a firearm (not because I'm afraid of coyotes, just because I LIKE to carry a firearm )
and I shoot coyotes on sight.

I have shot two. In 30 years.

Add to their natural adeptness at staying alive, and avoiding man, the fact they are essentually nocturnal.........what would you suggest the Most Magnificent Moron Mayor Miller DO, exactly?

Good luck with that....I suggest he catch about 1,000 dogs before a coyote would even approach one.....

Snares? WoW! Would THAT ever get the panties of Torontonians in a knot, along with the owners of the 1,000 DEAD dogs.

Send out the police ERT team? Who would look like morons after they shot 73 dogs, eight cats, and an innocent bystander.....still no coyote.

In this case, nothing is about all that can be done. Except not leave unattended toddlers in the back yard......

This Coyotes picture was taken in Regina in someone's backyard a
couple of days ago. They're common but you just don't see them
often. If you can find Mice and Rabbits in Toronto, then you'll have
Coyotes. This wouldn't be anything new, and one small (gotta be
smaller than an average sized cat I'm assuming) dog was taken and
this has you thinking that Coyotes are coming to eat your Babies???

If You or someone You know is leaving their Baby outside and
unattended in Canada in the winter, a Coyote is the least of the
concerns about your Baby.

What happens if a black bear was loose in the ravine do people live in fear while they try to trap it?

It's time to hire the hunters with tranquilizing guns and go after it.

Maybe the animal rights activists feel that an animal has more value than a human baby but most people don’t

Morons all over Toronto are now after this coyote. :roll: Expect a whole new rash of dog poisoning. I expect a couple of people will be shot with pellet guns, a few neighbor's will have their yappy mutt offed and of course there will be a couple of real kooks who feed the coyotes in hopes of having a friend of their own.

I would like to point out that there are exactly 0 coyotes roaming the balconies of many apartments and condos in Toronto. Move to the areas that are prone to housing wild animals and then bitch about the wild animals.

Black bears are considerably easier to find and trap or otherwise deal with, and a LOT more dangerous than a coyote........

Coyotes are not a part of Canada's War on Terror. Leave them alone! Small dogs and free ranging cats are simply easy prey. Get rid of them and you get rid of the coyote problem.

You'd have to get rid of the Squirrels, Gophers, Rabbits, Mice, Frogs,
and many other prey items that can be found in an urban environment
also to get rid of Coyotes. They're very versatile. Eliminate all of these
animals and if the Coyotes can't find anything else to eat, they'll move
on to better pickings.

That an animal larger than a mouse could exist in the concrete canyons of the "center of the known universe" is indeed shocking.

Steps must be taken.
Seal the borders.
Close the airports.
Declare martial law.
Bring in both the militia and the regular forces.
Launch all available F-18's.
An immediate curfew combined with shoot to kill orders instituted.

On a personal note.
Where there is one wild animal there are almost certainly more.
I would recommend boarding up all ground floor windows immediately.
Travel after dark is obviously suicidal.
Travel by foot will be risky in the extreme, I would recommend purchasing an auto loading 12 gauge shotgun.
Stock up on water, candles and dried food.
