PC'ers run amok.

Does the Toronto District School Board’s latest policy make it OK for a boy to enter the girl’s washroom whenever he ‘feels’ like it?

In another controversial move, the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has declared that transsexual and ‘gender non-conforming’ students and staff have the right to use whichever washroom they please.

Since the TDSB’s use of the term of ‘gender’ is all about how one feels, this means that any student could enter any student washroom whenever they like – and it would be against the human rights policy to question it. The same goes for staff and their respective washrooms.

While transgender or ‘gender neutral’ bathrooms have popped up across the country – most notably on university campuses – the TDSB isn’t offering an alternative restroom for students.

Instead, customary ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ washrooms will still be in place – and the TDSB has opened those washroom doors to all staff and students at any time.

When I was in kindergarten me and a bunch of other kids used both interchangeably before the whole gender thing was explained to us. Sure took them long enough.

I think they just got one of those gender neutral bathrooms at my university. Havent seen it and wouldn't use it. I don't use public washrooms at all though.

I can actually kind of agree with gender neutral washrooms. We don't have a boy's & girl's at home. We all use the crapper in the same way (I hope 8O) so what is the issue? I am not saying make a multi-stall bathroom unisex but for the individual toilets why not just a sign that says washroom (or WC as it would in England). I also think a lot of the issue people have with this is because we have stigmatized the difference between sexes. We have basically demonized the naked human form and all it's natural bodily functions to what end...so a few prudes can be shy without feeling different? We are all the same really. We all pee & poop (and yes it smells, even yours) and we fart & burp and it is all completely natural so what is the big deal?

How about just a single toilet and sink and a lock on the door, in a large building have two or three of them.

History and political science. I know, not very employable. Im looking into other alternatives at the moment though.

Also, never to late to give it a try. Even if its only part time through correspondence.

That'd be too easy. :p

If public washrooms were like that I'd use them.

History and political science.

Colpy has some kind of history degree I think, he might be able to tell you how useless....er, I mean useful it is. Pol Science is definitely a 1 way ticket to thinking you know whats best and getting yourself elected in order to assist in the further erosion and destruction of the rights & freedoms of individual citizens. I would avoid the Pol Science thing until after the citizenry decides we have had enough and revolts against the present form of govt.

Have you considered basket weaving as a major?

Plumbing is expensive, changing an existing structure is expensive.

It's only as easy as the funds allow.

It seems to have served him well during his working like, and equally so schooling you people that think you know history, here.

You're such an idiot.

I love it when you get all nutty.

Am I the only who thinks that horny teenage boys all across the GTA are very excited by this policy change?

That aside, who cares really? A bathroom is a bathroom, we are going in there to do one of two things, irrespective of gender. Well hopefully only one of two things anyway.

Adding a 3rd washroom costs money. They would have less money to waste on curriculum officers, schools for black women in wheelchairs with a lisp, and the such if they had to build a 3rd washroom.

Exactly.

And in about 45 seconds of research, the most liberal estimate of the number of transgender individuals I could find was 1 in 20,000.

The TDSB has long ago proven that it is run by the psychologically disadvantaged............

.

Yeah.

Me too, with a B. Ed thrown in as a bonus.

I'm sure you could have a bright future as underpaid security.

Do you like guns?? :)

Well, at least I don't have a career in the increasingly insane education system......

Maybe if they have some sort of toilet fetish. Seeing the opposite sex (or the same for that matter) in the bathroom isnt particularly appealing.

While history may not be employable outside of the education system it is pretty useful stuff to know.

I avoided poli-sci for awhile but not for the reasons you put forward. I avoided it because I thought that if I was forced to learn about it I may lose interest in politics. Fortunately that hasn't happened yet. It is also a useful field to understand even if its not particularly employable. Its nice to know how the system works and how it came to be that way. I cant really think of any rights we've lost recently (if ever). The trend seems to be the opposite. As time goes by democratic governments are giving people more rights, not less. Though there are a few exceptions. We are much more free now than we were 50-100 years ago.

Exactly.

Do you like guns?? :)

Guns - I like to look at them. I've never fired one though.

I thought about teaching but then I discovered I don't like kids. I imagine I'd like the parents and bosses even less.

Polisci can get you a job as a political hack. And perhaps with training a job at a self serve gas bar. History, along with a teaching certificate might put you on the the road to riches and a solid gold pension.

The number of students who are transgendered is so small as to be a non-issue if this is put through anyhow.

And if a woman walked into a men's room, or vice versa, let's be honest, it should be a non-issue too. I mean seriously, women aren't copping a squat with the stall door open and their junk on display, and I'm sure men aren't doing it either.

For a man it would be harder to urinate if a woman walked in.
