You wanted to bring ethnicity to the table as, apparently, some reason why we should be concerned about the rates of abotions in Canada. If you want to discuss it, bring it to the table. Otherwise, don't.

Ok. How many black babies, Native babies or Hispanic babies get slaughtered in comparisson to white babies? Why do you think it is that way?

I think what petros is getting at is, classic North Americans, are killing themselves off. While other ethnic/immigrant groups are not.

I'm not sure why you're off on this tangent. Stats don't bug me. You must have missed the part where I really don't care what the abotion rates are in Canada. I noted that the original comment of 43 per 100 live births was wrong. Other than that, I don't care. I wondered if there is a reason that we should care, other than feelings, and you have decided that because I won't play your game, I'm scared of something. What am I scared of? Maybe you can tell me. Perhaps you have a reason why we should be concerned. Who knows? Who cares?

Have an abortion, don't have one. It's got nothing to do with me. It's a personal decision.

Based on 2002 statistics, white mothers obtain 55.5 percent of abortions. Black mothers obtain 36.6 percent of abortions and mothers of other races obtain the remaining abortions.

Women 25 or older obtain the most abortions (49.1 percent). Women 20-24 obtain 33.4 percent of the abortions, and women 19 and younger obtain 17.5 percent of the abortions.

Married women account for 18.2 percent of all abortions. Unmarried women have 81.8 percent of all abortions. Of reporting states, 60.5 percent of abortions were performed on women who had at least one previous live birth.

Of the states reporting, 45.6 percent of women who had abortions already had at least one previous abortion. In fact, in Maryland, 71.5 percent of women seeking an abortion already had a previous abortion. Maryland (71.5 percent), Massachusetts (50.5 percent), New York (52.6 percent), and Ohio (56 percent) constituted those states where the majority of abortive women had a previous abortion.

These stats need another set of stats to show percentage of population based on ethnicity to give a correct percentage of abortions by ethnicty.

Petros, in your insistence to provide the statistics of the ethnic breakdown of Canada's abortion rate, has provided American statistics. Which, while interesting, don't necessarily have anything to do with the numbers we started with, which was got you off on your rant that I was scared of statistics. By your own reasoning, you must be scared of Canadian statistics.

In 2005, the rate was down to 28.3 per 100 live births.

It's hard to fear things that don't exist. BC, MB and NB can't provide stats to the CIHI for there to be national averages to work with.

Why would Canadian stats be a departure from the norm?

What is stopping Planned Parenthood from deviating from it's agenda in Canada?

They call them women because that's what they are...when they have breakdowns of the demographics by age it's beyond useless to call them anything else.
