It's wrong to kill, to take another human life. Period. If you feel you can justify taking another human life then you can justify taking ANY human life for any reason. It's either right or wrong. There is no grey area here.

The law says it's OK.

I have no problem justifying taking human life under various circumstances.

I don't live in a black and white world.

You believe that it is never justifiable to take a human life? Can I assume that you are one of those people who refuses to pay taxes because your taxes support our armed forces?

I have no doubt that you could justify the murder of another human being. It is very unfortunate that in our world that justification is far too common.

You can assume whatever your little heart desires. It is no skin off my ass.

So, you do not believe that it is ever justified to take a life?

not my point, I meant that the person trying to take away or modify the right to life ....the onus is on them, not the other way around.

ie if you want me to justify why I should have the right to live, I'll just tell you eff off. if you don't like that answer, well thats just too damn bad.

I don't want you to justify the right to live, I was wondering if you could justify your position that nobody should ever take a life.

But you can't/won't, so that's fine.

Me neither but abortion isn't one of them. I draw the line at animals (sorry animals) who destroy other lives and anyone who pushes dope to kids should be dropped off the trestle 10 seconds ahead of a loaded oncoming freight train.

I know you were, but I was trying to make a point about the concept of a right.

they have a heart beat at 4 weeks.

That's irrelevant. The cells and tissues are still using oxygen and nutrients before the development of the cardiovascular system. But simple diffusion isn't enough as the human grows larger and the metabolic demands increase, vessels are needed to transport the nutrients and elements that life needs.

I agree that it is irrelevant to people that want to justify their abortion.

Maybe the number has gone down. In what year was the rate 43 abortions per 100 live births? That's considerably higher than the latest data I could find on StatCan.

the first time I used these numbers, I stated that I was going by memory and wasn't sure if I have them correct, but the one thing that I remembered was it was shockingly high. If you pull the numbers of the stats can site, please post them, and I'll start to make reference to them instead.

Where does self defense come in or where the lives of your wife and children are at risk? I'd drop the S.O.B. without a qualm or if I caught someone peddling drugs to my grandkids or sexually molesting them. But then that's not murder - it's putting someone out of their misery.

If I need to explain why it's wrong to take anothers life, then you wouldn't understand that explanation.

From puberty on, sexual activity is one of the strongest motivational factors in human behaviour, at times outweighing the urge to eat or drink. "Just say no!" is as absurd as when it is used concerning drugs. Throw drugs and alcohol into the mix and all rational goes out the window. The urge tends to fade once we get older (or about two months after most people get married). The problem of unwanted pregnancies is far to complex an emotional and psychological problem to be solved by buzz phrases like "keep your pecker in your pants".
