In my defence, I would acquaint myself with the law and my obligations, as well as my employees obligations, as soon as I was informed that they were going on a medical leave. That's kind of my point. And you have a natural interest in the law and legislation.
I usually called a lawyer, lol.Oh for sure, the basics, the stuff that comes up all the time, and the common sense stuff as well. Everyone should know it, and if they don't have it on the top of their heads they should find out. (That's usually why I get all the weird questions is when something odd comes up in the workplace. I don't know why they call their accountant with that though, maybe because they figure we do payroll so we would know?)
What I've seen, and it certainly isn't restricted to Tim Hortons, is a workforce in need of unionization.
The fast food industry thrives on low paid, unskilled, uneducated, young and or old labour.
And if I was asked for an honest opinion as to why, I'd have to say it's because of the very issues we've discussed here. Those two groups are less likely to understand their rights, and or fight back.
You do have taste. Who knew.In my entire life I've eaten product from Timmy Hos exactly twice-once in Port Alberni and once in Abbotsford neither known as paragons of culinary excellence-IOW I was stuck for brekkie.
I still regret eating both 'meals'.
