Coffee giant Tim Hortons Inc. is returning its home base to Canada with a plan to reorganize and convert to a Canadian-based corporation.

The popular coffee house chain is currently owned by a U.S.-based parent company after its spinoff from U.S.-based burger giant Wendy's in 2007. Tims says the reorganization will save money due to Canada's lower tax rates and make international expansion easier.

The move will create a Canadian subsidiary with which Tims will merge, creating a company incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act.

Tim Hortons shareholders will hold the same amount of stock as before, and the company will continue to operate under the Tim Hortons name with stock listings on the TSX and the New York Stock Exchange. The chain has struggled to boost sales in the United States despite thriving in Canada.

I have to admit, I prefer the donuts our Safeway bakery makes over TH's. Never did think much of their coffee, either. Bought a pound a while back and was a bit miffed when I had to use something like 3 tbsp to make 1 cup of decent coffee. Comes out to about 1/2 of the bag per 12 cup pot.

Well!!! It's about time, too. That Timmies' coffee was starting to taste, just so..............American.........
AND!! The donuts!! Even the holes were stale.:fart:(bean donut)
So, the corp is going to be "Canadian based", as in, still American.........
If you own a franchise you sure can print money...........Sheesh!!
Awww, their walnut crunch ain't so bad.
I just wish Lulu at the take-out-window would blow her nose; maybe clean the fingernails.
.....and like that.

Oh my goodness... Safeway or Co-op.... MMmmmm. for under ten bucks I can get a donut, a big bowl of soup, and a Starbuck's caramel macchiato for lunch at Safeway. Sure, it's more calories than a person's supposed to have in a week but YUM.

Right on!!! The bitter coffee and crappy donuts are OURS again!! :canada:
I don't think so. Tim's belongs to Wendie's and the corporate offices will be in Canada. Not much has changed. I use their coffee at home but Canterbury coffee is better. The truly bitter burnt tasting coffee is Starbucks. Can't drink it. Going back to Canterbury next purchase. Thought there was something wrong with my coffee pot!! 8O

Yeah. As Robert Palmer put it, "simply irresistable". hehehe For me it's change from a tenner, a big sub sammich, a medium cuppa dark roast witha bit of real cream to calm the bitterness down, and a cindy or two.

I miss Robert Palmer but I do find Tim's coffee nothing special..

Unfortunately I have a few customers who just won't meet anywhere else so I have to meet them there for quick updates..

Personally I think McDonald's Coffee is pretty good for a quick cup of java but I usually get just a regular Starbucks if McD's is not close by.. Of course if I need to web surf Starbucks will do as I use the internet free there..

I also think service at Tim Hortons is horrible.. I can get thru McDonald's much faster then Tim's and get much more..

OK the food at McD is not great but depending on what you buy, a coffee and a muffin, you can in and out in less then 2 minutes. It has taken me 20 minutes to get thru less people at Tim Hortons..

If you are ever traveling through Alberta (hwy 3) stop at the bakery in Bow Island. I'm not sure what it is called but it's Bow Island...there is only one of anything. They have THE best donuts in the universe.
