Not disagreeing that Northern infrastructure projects are very expensive and fiscally inefficient, but I'd still rather see our tax dollars go towards improving quality of life for Canadians in this country than funding abortions in Africa. It's not like they haven't spent money on it. Remote projects receive as little as 25% of the funding once the consultants and planners are done. It is seriously challenging to get anything done properly.
First Nations have to do it for themselves opposed to having Ottawa deal with it on their behalf.
Regardless of how the money is spent, we should not be wasting our money interfering in affairs in other countries and/or continents. Not disagreeing that Northern infrastructure projects are very expensive and fiscally inefficient, but I'd still rather see our tax dollars go towards improving quality of life for Canadians in this country than funding abortions in Africa.
Especially when it's being spent to peddle our political left wing ideologies.Regardless of how the money is spent, we should not be wasting our money interfering in affairs in other countries and/or continents.
Part of the problem is that a lot of FN don't take maintenance of the treatment plants seriously when it is turned over for them to run. It's not like they haven't spent money on it. And when it fails, they would learn to take it more seriously. Natural and logical consequences. If they never get the chance, they will never take responsibility.Part of the problem is that a lot of FN don't take maintenance of the treatment plants seriously when it is turned over for them to run.
Agreed which is part of the whole maintenance argument, when community owned housing infrastructure is being ignored by representatives elected to over see it. How can one expect them to maintain a water system to supply the run down homes? In fairness, when they're living in houses like this, continuous maintenance of a treatment plant would probably seem like a low priority.

That is all coming across the board with well trained indigenous professionals in all fields. We already know their lawyers. When communities develop from within there is pride and respect in their work. There is no lack of skill or ability amongst their people.Part of the problem is that a lot of FN don't take maintenance of the treatment plants seriously when it is turned over for them to run.
Some are worse but many are not.In fairness, when they're living in houses like this, continuous maintenance of a treatment plant would probably seem like a low priority.

That's true but the problem is to keep them working on the reserve after they've gotten training and experienceThat is all coming across the board with well trained indigenous professionals in all fields. It's a 1000 year old discussion about colonization, native rights, and how to live. I'm seeing no evidence that Canada has been right about everything so far given the scandalous history of our past. Pick any decade since confederation. Designed for the elite by the elite and now more like hogs to a trough up to their eyes in debt and carrying on like jackasses with zero accountability. The other guy is worse is how it goes.
Maybe that's where ownership of private property and business comes in.That's true but the problem is to keep them working on the reserve after they've gotten training and experience
hes gone off the reservation. This is Trudeau's Idea of Reconciliation
