Monday, the grandkids are doing their tests. What belts? Dunno. Grand daughter's been in martial arts for a couple of years now. Five-year-old grandson has some pretty impressive moves in his first year. What sucks is kids have to lose some innocence to be prepared
They don't really have to loose innocence. Both my kids were young when they started and I've watched more kids classes than I care to remember. What I found is the most beneficial aspect of it, and the thing that will keep them safe, is theself discipline it instills and the way it teaches them to be aware of their surroundings without putting the fear of God into them.
My son used to be the kid who was daydreaming walking down the street, he wouldn't be able to tell you how many house he passed or what colour the cars were. But once he started learning then he could, but he wasn't afraid. It was just better awareness. It changes your thinking I guess.
I'm not sure if I'm describing it properly. Hopefully you'll know what I mean.
