British (European) Robins look totally different than their North American counterpart. Much more delicate. I think the Barn Owl looks a bit like an avian British Bull Dog, that's what i'd vote for.

In any case they'll never come up with as good a symbol as the Common Loon for Canada.. or the Wild Turkey for America (uhh... Benjamin Franklin's preference over the Eagle.)

One thing about Nanaimo is that Robins don't go South in the Winter. They stay with us all year round.

The Eagle is more of a carrion eater than a hunter. It would also prefer to steal its food from other birds, particularly Osprey. That pretty much sums up the US of Aggression.

Haters gonna hate!

Cliffy you're so salty and green this St. Patrick's Day!

Bald Eagle vs. Osprey..."Bald Eagles routinely harass Ospreys and steal their fish. We know of several instances in which Bald Eagles have killed Ospreys, ...

Stating the truth is now considered hate in the US of Aggression? How ironic.

Cliffy is so green and jealous on this fine St. Patrick's Day!

Jealous of such a kick azz predator like the American Bald Eagle!

Chief Wannabee needs to read a book about predators... and perhaps about the thieves he so worships.

wherever i sit down my ars
Out here in the desert the predominant birds are pigeons, doves, sparrows and the blackbirds. My favorites are the doves. Saw a couple of white doves , which are rare out here, a couple of years ago.

When I lived out in the sticks in the Midwest I use to take long walks down an old county road . On that road was a very tall tree and every time I walked by the tree a red tailed hawk would scream at me as if to say, keep movin fool this is my territory.

and it was

they are beautiful birds, she has lived in this area since she was young, the first spring she was teaching her fledglings her cry was distressing me because it was repeated over and over again and she was in the same flight pattern so I thought something was terribly wrong...finally I figured out she would fly a bit from the nest and then call and call until they would come...as the days go by she flies further and further and the cry gets fainter and fainter and then the babies are gone when they get strong enough...she has become a part of the spring ritual...I don't know how long they live but I hope it is for a long time.
