Holy crap, Flossy. I think Boomper is giving you some competition for thread post count.

They're both unemployed and on welfare playing with the computer all day.......

Deficit gambit stunned Tory brainiacs into silence

Conservatives took for granted that they had won the intellectual debate about deficits. So when the Liberal party made its surprising tack left during the campaign, Conservatives simply didn’t have the words.

How the deficit gambit stunned Conservatives into silence - Macleans.ca

Sean Speer and Ken Boessenkool have been senior policy advisors to Prime Minister Harper and were members of the Conservative national campaign team.

This is a golden opportunity for conservatives in Canada and Alberta. After a few years of Justin and Rachel at the helm people will be screaming for change. The question is, what brand of conservatism will the Conservative Party offer. The Harperesque brand promoted by Loc, Boomer, Das and the rest of the nutters here, has been completed rebuked by Canadian voters. Common sense conservatism (a la Ralph Klein) is more than palatable to Canadians. Are the Conservatives wanting to placate the former or are they willing to invite people like me back. The ball's in their court. The opportunity is there. We will soon find out if they are a party of the people or do they wish to remain a party of ideologues.

You have just described the old Progressive Conservative Party before the Reform / Alliance coup that hijacked them. It was a national party back then that tried to represent the whole country, not just a regional, single purpose rump dedicated to the oil industry.

Except the old Tory party wasn't particularly conservative either fiscally or socially. They were Liberals.

No, they were in the middle. That is how you get elected in Canada because the vast majority of Canadans are in the middle, too. If it weren't for that moderate Tory element that comes in from the rest of Canada, the Reform-Alliance types would have remained the regional rump that they were and you would be competing against the Bloc Québécois for the fourth place, again.

So we're the Liberals. In fact the Chrétien years were more fiscally conservative than the Harper years

You must be a Yank, using Yank political terms that don't have the same meaning in Canada. If they are capital "L" Liberals, as you say, they will not, cannot be capital "C" Conservatives. The fact is that they are the ones that give Conservative governments power, in Canada. Without them, the very right of the Conservative Party only represents 15-20% of Canada and is therefore doomed to extinction.

Nope, you're just having trouble accepting that your ideology is flawed

Stop being so silly. Your just bitter because you've been exposed as a liar.

"My ideology is flawed?" What are you? Twenty years old? You sound just like a Maoist.

I have never lied once to anyone about anything on this forum. As I have said, this place is infested with trolls and, by using statements like that, you are clearly one of them.

Yeah, when Fat head runs out of stuff to say he accuses people of lying. Biggest hypocrite on the forum!
