The soul exists!
soul

soulÆlikeÅ, adj.
Syn. 1. spirit. 4. heart. 7. essence, core, heart.
Most of which is generated by electrochemical and chemical activity in the brain and the body. IE: emotions, feelings, thought, animating principles, intentions, and that sort of stuff. Everything else is incidental. IOW, it's almost all in your head. lol

Just as Hey Zeus said:

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it (Matthew 7:13, 14).

So that kinda ruins the "believe and you ae guaranteed" as the religio show biz "hosts" would like you think.

Sure the road is narrow petros. But for a sufficient amount of fee, the Great Televangelist will reserve a seat in the Heaven for you.

The road is narrow except for those who follow the televangelist. I think televangelists have group reservations in Heaven, which they dole out to their supporters.

Now wait a minute here...does that mean if you have no soul, you're brainless? :-|

.... for a modest fee of millions.

Wasn't my gran. :)

Just think, though. It'd make a really cool horror show: really decrepit and horrid-looking things popping outta graves and wandering about, slowly getting better and better looking (except in the odd case where no change would make a diff). Limbs reattaching, cancers dying off, etc.
They did the Mash, they did the Monster Mash,
They did the Mash, it was a Graveyard Smash,
It caught on in a flash, they did the Monster Mash

The Zombies were having fun, the party had just begun
The guests included Wolfman, Dracula and his son!!!!! (Bobby Boris Pickett)

Yeah, it had a lot of soul! Oops, I mean it caused a lot of firing of signals in the brain, which everyone knows is nothing more than a simple biological function that has nothing whatsoever to do with having fun and enjoying the music. Or something like that. Darn, I used to enjoy music as it was good for the soul and made me feel good, but now I'm thinking I might have been wrong. If I have no soul, I guess I can't have fun. I'm confused. 8O

That electrochemically produced sensation will pass.

Careful now SJP, if I didn't know better - your words would have me believing YOU are a believer. If there is no God, there is no Heaven in which case there would be no seats for the Televangelists to reserve seats in. If you are aknowledging that seats in Heaven exist (even if you only do so in the name of Televangelists), then you show belief in a Super Power - God! Do you believe "that Heaven waits for only those who congregate"?

Oh for Heaven's sake, VanIsle. Don't you understand sarcasm (and ridicule) when you see it? Or are you being sarcastic here? doesn't sound that way to me.

Scared of leaks? You aren't that old are you?

Leaks? Hell no! I was thinking about those electrochemical impulses (brain farts?) and the possible feeling of "Is that all there is/was?" as the feeling passes.

I know, I need to focus on the power of positive thinking to overcome that letdown and thus reverse the negative effects. And aging too!

(Back on topic now!)

We were off topic? I thought aging was the topic and oldsters seem to enjoy passing things. Sometimes even intentionally. :D

Perhaps. But positive thinking cannot hurt. If anything,, it may help.

SJP, you can think positively about negative things, in which case positive thought could and frequently does hurt many people. Many think of TWOT as positive for the world when the facts are decidedly different. Positive thought does not have to result in positive action. I know you already knew this but if Colpy is reading this thread it will be news to him eh.
