ANYONE seeking to IMPOSE a way of life on ANYONE else has hidden motives. .....and has NO RIGHT to do so.

And what do you call prison? I would say that a criminal act certainly does give the government a right to impose a different way of life on the criminal. Wouldn't you?

I really don’t believe that any Muslim today can remember the crusades, so that’s hardly a reason for hatred. Besides which, no matter how they were done, the crusades were a counterattack to Muslim invasion. Bin Laden did mention the loss of Andalusia (Spain) as a reason for hatred, so I guess if someone fights back successfully it’s considered a crime against Islam for all time.

Good grief. Hasn't the history of the mid east and the west been one attack/counter-attack after another to date?

While I agree, most modern muslims would have been born after the cursades etc,I also think a lot of them can read the writings of their people describing the history of their fare but firm Conquerers/Reforming Sultans/Colonial Masters and so on.

SH was no friend of the US but he kept the radicals suppressed. They have now been loosed upon the world. It’s only a matter of time.

I hope I’m wrong.

I would have to agree. I think Saddams main purpose in Iraq was to quiet disidents. Maybe he was sidetracked by booze and babes?

AQUA LYRICS

"Barbie Girl"

Hi Barbie
Hi Ken!
Do you wanna go for a ride?
Sure Ken!
Jump In...

I'm a barbie girl, in the barbie world
Life in plastic, it's fantastic!
you can brush my hair, undress me everywhere
Imagination, life is your creation
Come on Barbie, let's go party!

I'm a barbie girl, in the barbie world
Life in plastic, it's fantastic!
you can brush my hair, undress me everywhere
Imagination, life is your creation

I'm a blond bimbo girl, in the fantasy world
Dress me up, make it tight, I'm your dolly
You're my doll, rock'n'roll, feel the glamour in pink,
kiss me here, touch me there, hanky panky...
You can touch, you can play, if you say: "I'm always yours"

(uu-oooh-u)

I'm a barbie girl, in the barbie world
Life in plastic, it's fantastic!
you can brush my hair, undress me everywhere
Imagination, life is your creation

Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(Ah-ah-ah-yeah)
Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(uu-oooh-u)
Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(Ah-ah-ah-yeah)
Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(uu-oooh-u)

Make me walk, make me talk, do whatever you please
I can act like a star, I can beg on my knees
Come jump in, bimbo friend, let us do it again,
hit the town, fool around, let's go party
You can touch, you can play, if you say: "I'm always yours"
You can touch, you can play, if you say: "I'm always yours"

Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(Ah-ah-ah-yeah)
Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(uu-oooh-u)
Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(Ah-ah-ah-yeah)
Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(uu-oooh-u)

I'm a barbie girl, in the barbie world
Life in plastic, it's fantastic!
you can brush my hair, undress me everywhere
Imagination, life is your creation

I'm a barbie girl, in the barbie world
Life in plastic, it's fantastic!
you can brush my hair, undress me everywhere
Imagination, life is your creation

Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(Ah-ah-ah-yeah)
Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(uu-oooh-u)
Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(Ah-ah-ah-yeah)
Come on Barbie, let's go party!
(uu-oooh-u)

Oh, I'm having so much fun!
Well Barbie, we're just getting started
Oh, I love you Ken!

PoisonPete2 -- "The Iraqi People did not ever f**ck with the U.S. You got it wrong on purpose. Your criminal actions have caused the U.S. to have many enemies. I am proud to be counted among them."

Really? - and does your statement still hold true today after the London attack? So you are proud to be an enemy of the US? Is that really a wise strategic stance? Canada is outnumbered, surrounded, and next on Al-Qaida's list. Hmmm. "Dumb and dumber?"

You don't even know who did the London bombings and yet you go running off at the mouth. Remember McVie. They blamed that on the Islamics. "Realy" is such a great retort. So you know the Al-Quiada list do you? It is not a 'strategic stance, but a moral principle. I would not stand with the oppressers just to avoid oppression.

being a US(G) "friend"/ally is no great shakes either. Seems CA's best option is to stay as neutral as possible. ......but tactful and diplomatic. ......with a peacekeeping focus.

I have just about read every thorough reason why people hate what America stands for these day.

I still note that such hate has an intensity, an energy, a passion like no other hate in the world.

It appears that no one hates the terrorists equally as passionately.

Interesting.

I've been reading why.

But does that still explain it?

I guess it does explain it for those with the passion.

Then you're not looking...

Just because we are able to see that the US has made this monster, does not mean that we condone it...

Terrorists=BAD

US involvement in ME=BAD

Does that reconcile those fancied inequities of ours to your satisfaction Jim?

this is an interesting situation. Yes, "hatred" does carry a passion/life of its own. Just as certain prejudices do. The feelings towards the "terrorists" are different from the feelings towards the new and unimproved US(G). Seems that much of the anger.....(or "hatred" ) at the US is because the US is supposed to be more enlightened and should know better as to how to deal with other people/nations etc. Barbarism is the trade mark of "terrorists"......while "barbarism" such as elective wars for eg....... retaliation with over aggression, revenge and other such human elements are not the expected conduct of a supposedly progressive /modern/educated nation. One simply expects a higher degree of civility , intelligence and strategy from a supposed modern nation. When same reverts to barbaric means to resolve major issues.......and reduces itself to the level of its own "enemy"......it does not speak well for said nation and there is a lot of anger at this. Over all there is plenty of anger to both , the terrorist groups that make people feel impotent, fearful and uncertain and the US(G) for mishandling this grave problem.

There was NO NEED to foster MORE anger on this planet by invading Iraq , (creating more incentive for terrorists ) while taking the eye of the main problem. We are seeing the repercussions of this invasion almost daily. The London Bombings are just the latest. The anger at the US intensifies with each death /bombing. Britain has become a viable target , because it has been complicit in the bush action in Iraq. But it is not as simple as that either.

Kinda too bad that the USG is too simple minded to have assessed the real motive behind the series of bombings leading up to and 9-11. They just went off half cocked with military action, and perpetuated the cycle of violence. Just as it is important to assess the motivations for the terrorist cells.......it is equally important to understand the anger at the US now. Both parties are in a war dance now.......and many innocents directly or indirectly related to this "dance" are getting killed. Does it not make one wonder about the fact that the likes of OBL have gone from the radar now?? Sadly , with the loss of credibility of the USG now.......no one pays much heed to the repetative spin coming from them now. Worse, the US(G) has lost respect .

It is a very complicated issue now.

I don't think it's so complicated Ocean...

One expects terrorism from terrorists...doesn't make it right...but that's what we've come to expect from their like...

What one does not expect is terrorism from what was once a bastion of freedom and democracy...

That's the part that frosts everyone's melon...hence the outrage...
