Ugh… The site is intelligently designed in such a way that threads can go back for years and there could be an archive of thousands and thousands of them….

The active ones come to the top and Less active once fade to the back….& if you look hard you can find threads going back years and years if you search for them. Who knows what google search will bring someone new to explore the rants & raves from over the years….

There’s is not a problem with the site but just sour grapes in general at times. Nobody forces anyone to read anything…
sorry what i posted was sarcasm and frustration since there are posters who are fussy about what i have posted. :(

2nd warning 1st domino to fall, pretty suspicious timing after the email revelation that he trained Wuhan Scientists

Longtime National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins retires

Collins is the only NIH director to ever lead the agency under three consecutive administrations

"I fundamentally believe ... that no single person should serve in the position for too long, and that it's time to bring in a new scientist to lead the NIH into the future," Collins said in a post on the Department of Health and Humans Services website.

Collins joined Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, in becoming one of the most visible public health advisers and voices during the coronavirus pandemic.

By training Collins is a geneticist, working in earlier stages of his career to identify the genes for cystic fibrosis and other disorders. He was nominated in 2009 by then-President Barack Obama to lead the NIH, a position for which he was unanimously confirmed by the Senate.

In 2007, Collins was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush, for his work mapping the human genome.

Interesting after Trump put a moratorium on spending to Wuhan

Wuhan scientists and US researchers planned to create a new coronavirus in 2018: Consortium led by Brit Peter Daszak asked DARPA to fund research at lab in city where Covid pandemic began

  • A 2018 grant proposal sought to combine data from similar strains for new virus
  • It was submitted by scientists from US, China and Singapore, but was rejected
  • A genetics expert from the WHO told The Telegraph that such work could explain why a close ancestor for Covid-19 has yet to be found in nature
  • The Wuhan Institute of Virology has consistently denied creating Covid-19

GENEVA — The World Health Organization said on Wednesday its newly formed advisory group on dangerous pathogens may be “our last chance” to determine the origins of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and urged China to provide data from early cases.

The first human cases of COVID-19 were reported in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019. China has repeatedly dismissed theories that the virus leaked from one of its laboratories and has said no more visits are needed.

A WHO-led team spent four weeks in and around Wuhan earlier this year with Chinese scientists, and said in a joint report in March that the virus had probably been transmitted from bats to humans through another animal but further research was needed.

WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said the investigation was hampered by a dearth of raw data pertaining to the first days of the outbreak and has called for lab audits.

The WHO on Wednesday named the 26 proposed members of its Scientific Advisory Group on the Origins of Novel Pathogens (SAGO). They include Marion Koopmans, Thea Fischer, Hung Nguyen and Chinese animal health expert Yang Yungui, who took part in the joint investigation in Wuhan.

Maria van Kerkhove, WHO technical lead on COVID-19, voiced hope that there would be further WHO-led international missions to China which would engage the country’s cooperation.

She told a news conference that “more than three dozen recommended studies” must still to be carried out to determine how the virus crossed from the animal species to humans.

Reported Chinese testing for antibodies in Wuhan residents in 2019 will be “absolutely critical” to understanding the virus’s origins, van Kerkhove said.

The WHO, in an editorial in Science, said that detailed investigations of the earliest known and suspected cases in China prior to December 2019 were still needed, including analyzes of stored blood samples from 2019 in Wuhan and retrospective searches of hospital and mortality data for earlier cases.

Labs in the area where the first reports of human infections emerged in Wuhan must be a focus, as ruling out an accident requires sufficient evidence, it said.

Mike Ryan, WHO’s top emergency expert, said the new panel may be the last chance to establish the origin of SARS-CoV-2, “a virus that has stopped our whole world.”

The WHO was seeking to “take a step back, create an environment where we can again look at the scientific issues,” he said. “This is our best chance, and it may be our last chance to understand the origins of this virus.”

Chen Xu, China’s ambassador to the UN in Geneva, told a separate news conference the conclusions of the joint study were “quite clear,” adding that as international teams had been sent to China twice already, “it is time to send teams to other places.”

“I do believe that if we are going to continue with the scientific research I think it should be a joint effort based on science not by the intelligence agencies,” Chen said. “So if we are going to talk about anything, we are doing the whole business within the framework of SAGO.”

WASHINGTON — U.S. intelligence agencies said on Friday they may never be able to identify the origins of COVID-19, as they released a new, more detailed version of their review of whether the coronavirus came from animal-to-human transmission or leaked from a lab.

The Office of the U.S. Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) said in a declassified report that a natural origin and a lab leak are both plausible hypotheses for how SARS-COV-2 first infected humans. But it said analysts disagree on which is more likely or whether any definitive assessment can be made at all.

The report also dismissed suggestions that the coronavirus originated as a bioweapon, saying proponents of this theory “do not have direct access to the Wuhan Institute of Virology” and have been accused of spreading disinformation.

The report issued on Friday is an update of a 90-day review that President Joe Biden’s administration released in August, amid intense political infighting over how much to blame China for the effects of the global pandemic rather than governments that may not have moved quickly enough to protect citizens.

China responded on Friday by criticizing the report.

“The US moves of relying on its intelligence apparatus instead of scientists to trace the origins of COVID-19 is a complete political farce,” Liu Pengyu, a spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Washington, said in an emailed statement.

“.. It will only undermine science-based origins study and hinder the global effort of finding the source of the virus,” the statement said.

Former Republican President Donald Trump – who lost his bid for re-election as the deadly pandemic ravaged the U.S. economy – and many of his supporters referred to COVID-19 as the “China virus.”

Some U.S. spy agencies had strongly favored the explanation that the virus originated in nature. But there has been little corroboration and over recent months the virus has spread widely and naturally among wild animals.

The ODNI report said four U.S. spy agencies and a multi-agency body have “low confidence” that COVID-19 originated with an infected animal or a related virus.

But one agency said it had “moderate confidence” that the first human COVID-19 infection most likely was the result of a laboratory accident, probably involving experimentation or animal handling by the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

U.S. spy agencies believe they will not be able to produce a more definitive explanation for the origin of COVID-19 without new information demonstrating that the virus took a specific pathway from animals to humans or that a Wuhan laboratory was handling the virus or a related virus before COVID-19 surfaced.

The report said U.S. agencies and the global scientific community lacked “clinical samples or a complete understanding of epidemiological data from the earliest COVID-19 cases” and said it could revisit this inconclusive finding if more evidence surfaces.

China has faced international criticism for failing to cooperate more fully in investigations of COVID’s origins.

The embassy statement also dismissed that criticism.

“We have been supporting science-based efforts on origins tracing, and will continue to stay actively engaged. That said, we firmly oppose attempts to politicize this issue,” it said.

Of course he lied under oath & continues to do so because his lies are actually his truth as he sees it. To actually take responsibility for his actions is simply not going to happen. There is his truth & then there's "the truth". This is why the world is so F'd up! Politicians lie constantly and even when found out, doesn't matter - they'll double down rather than admit they lied, especially Democrats & their Leftist friends. There are no consequences anymore. :censored:

China may be the root of another pandemic, according to researchers who have discovered 18 “high-risk” viruses in the country’s markets.

A new study of viral pathogens has found that markets host a range of diseases that threaten humans and other animals, reported The Strait Times.

The study examined more than a dozen species of game animals traded, sold, and commonly consumed as exotic food in China and identified 71 mammalian viruses, including 18 deemed “potentially high risk” to people and domestic animals.

According to the researchers, the most unsettling were microbes found in civets, a small nocturnal animal that carried the SARS coronavirus from bats to humans in China in 2002.

While researchers did not find anything resembling the virus responsible for the COVID pandemic, they discovered that bats carrying viral pathogens can infect other animals – which could lead to dangerous outbreaks.

“This study highlights exactly why the wildlife trade and live animal markets are a pandemic accident waiting to happen,” said study co-author Edward Holmes, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Sydney.

“This paper also shows that humans regularly transmit their viruses to other animals,” he added. “There’s clearly two-way virus traffic.”

A market in Wuhan, where traders sold live animals, was previously linked to the initial outbreak of coronavirus in 2019, though the origins of COVID-19 have not been confirmed.

SINGAPORE — The first known COVID-19 case was a market vendor in the Chinese city of Wuhan, not an accountant who appeared to have no link to the market but whose case contributed to speculation the virus could have leaked from a lab, according to a U.S. study.

The origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 remains a mystery and a major source of tension between China and the United States.

A joint study by China and the World Health Organization (WHO) this year all but ruled out the theory that COVID-19 originated in a laboratory, saying that the most likely hypothesis was that it infected humans naturally, probably via the wildlife trade.

A WHO-led team of experts spent four weeks in and around the central city of Wuhan with Chinese scientists and said in a joint report in March that the SARS-CoV-2 virus had probably been transmitted from bats to humans through another animal but that further research was needed.

The accountant, who was widely thought to be the first person with COVID-19, reported that his first symptoms appeared on Dec. 16, several days later than initially known, Michael Worobey, head of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Arizona, said in the study published in the journal Science on Thursday.

The confusion was caused by a dental problem he had on Dec. 8.

“His symptom onset came after multiple cases in workers at Huanan Market, making a female seafood vendor there the earliest known case, with illness onset 11 December,” the study said.

It said most early symptomatic cases were linked to the market, specifically to the western section where raccoon dogs were caged, and it provided strong evidence of a live-animal market origin of the pandemic.

The WHO proposed last month a new expert panel to investigate the source of the coronavirus.
