Re: Meryl Streep Criticizes Trump At Golden Globe Awards

The positive side is it give otherwise useless a$$hole such as yourself something to b*tch about every day.:).

I like to give morons like you something to think about, although in your case the word "think" might be somewhat exaggerated.

why a don't pick on Trump thread?? why the need to "protect" him. He is the last person that needs protection or defending. He does i tall by himself.
He offends and reacts to anyone or any organization that so celled insults him or disagrees with him. (or his bizarre conduct ) How can anyone defend his obsession with Putin / Russia?? It should be raising red flags allover THIS guy CANNOT BE FAIR OR OBJECTIVE...in his international relationships The PLUS is that it is so obvious that with any luck smarter folks than him will prevent him from making stupid mistakes . as he has already been manipulated by Russia and Putin. Wait unti l his policies start to affect CDA.and begins t o hurt our economy..... Will see how many will stand by their man.blindly and foolishly The positive for his supporters is that they can graciously change their opinion realizing he is a liability , not an asset to the US or the world.. Anyone that talks about walls is a throwback to another perioid in history when moats and such were the big thing . Even they found out that such tactics don't work. How can that kind of mindset exist in 2017? More important .how can any clear thinking, object ive individual with a modicum of critical thinking support such primitive ideas? He thrives on dissent and obfuscation. Not the qualities of a true leader. And yes.his so called "win" will always be under a cloud ...as he had help from the outside Funny how he trusts Wikileaks more than he trusts his own intelligent agencies.

How effective and objective is a leader who only believes what he wants to hear ??? And reacts like a child to anyone that speaks the truth about him?? The immaturity is astounding .. When rules are made to be broken as he wishes......there is a problem.

Yes. indeed. Leaders establish the protocols. But these must remain within the perimeters of the law and constitution. The fellow inquestion is not known for his fine ethics , standards and protocols. He has even-more lawsuits now. Anyone with the number of lawsuits and history of bankruptcies as well as offenseve language about women and in reaction to even the slightest slight to him....... is NOT a person of integrity, or having high personal standards..let alone dignity and class. the office of President demands a protocol of decorum and dignity. At the very least he /she is a role model. What is astonishing is to see how much time he has for TV watching or media watching when he is planning for a job that requires so much knowledge , and preparation. But then he is acting like he is entitled to the role. as he keeps mentioning his big win. Is that mature/? Is that responsible care about the words one utters?? fOR THE RECORD: IF HE WANTS TO BE RESOECTED.HE BETTER START SHOWING RESPECT TO OTHERS.. AND TO DATE.... THAT IS SORELY LACKING. BUT THEN HE IS ALL ABOUT him..... (AND THE BOTTOM LINE).... AND PEOPLE ARE THERE TO FACILITATE THIS. If narcissistic conduct is the current ethical and moral standard...then folks have what theywanted. Sadly he does note even have the grace to wait until he is in-office before making policy statements. What is tragic is that hard evidence and FACTS are not important to him. His gut and his beliefs (not fact or science based) seem t o run the show. If running rough shod over others is what folks like.thenhe is your man.People in his position ARE criticized.and should be. He can't seem to grasp that or how to handle it with dignity intelligence and aplomb.

I guess it depends on your definition of the word "true" I suppose...

Gaslight:

Donald Trump is 'gaslighting' all of us(Opinion) - CNN.com

" Is Donald Trump really a "big fan" of the intelligence community, as he claimed on Twitter, or did he disparage intelligence professionals when he repeatedly referred to them and their work in sneer quotes about "Intelligence" briefings and the "so-called 'Russian hacking'"?
Did Trump mock a disabled reporter, or did your eyes, and the Hollywood elite make you think he did?
Did he convince Ford not to move a car plant to Mexico, saving American jobs, or was it all a fabrication for publicity?
Did he win the election with a historically narrow victory, or did he score a "landslide"?
The questions are endless, and the answers, unless you're paying very close attention -- all the time -- can require significant effort to ascertain. Reality is becoming hazy in the era of Trump. And that's no accident.

The fact is Trump has become America's gaslighter in chief.
If you've never heard the term, prepare to learn it and live with it every day. Unless Trump starts behaving in a radically different way after he becomes President, gaslighting will become one of the words of 2017.
The term comes from the 1930s play "Gas Light" and the 1940s Hollywood movie version (Gaslight) in which a manipulative husband tries to unmoor his wife, played by Ingrid Bergman, by tampering with her perception of reality. He dims the gaslights and then pretends it's only she who thinks they are flickering as the rooms grow darker."

And CNN has credibility .

Maybe, CNN has less credibility beapcause of Trump's intentional gaslighting

..continued

That's only the beginning. He uses a variety of truth-blurring techniques. His goal is to exert power and control by creating doubts about what is real and what isn't, distracting her as he attempts to steal precious jewels.
Mental health professionals have made much of the practice, said to be a favorite of narcissists and abusive spouses. But more recently the tactical tampering with the truth has become a preferred method of strongmen around the world. Gaslighting by other means was always a common feature of dictatorships, but it has found new vogue as a more subtle form of domestic political control even in countries with varying degrees of democracy.
Now Trump has brought it to the United States. The techniques include saying and doing things and then denying it, blaming others for misunderstanding, disparaging their concerns as oversensitivity, claiming outrageous statements were jokes or misunderstandings, and other forms of twilighting the truth.

Recall the presidential campaign. By early summer, Trump had already accumulated a long list of statements he made and then denied making; enough that fact-checkers could hardly keep up. He told his supporters to "knock the crap out" of protesters at his rallies, adding "I will pay your legal fees." When confronted with the statement, he responded: "I didn't say that."
After mimicking a disabled reporter and seeing the video used as evidence against him, he repeatedly denied it, claiming his opponents should be embarrassed to say he did. "I would NEVER mock disabled. Shame!" The denials continued after Meryl Streep brought up the subject this week at the Golden Globes. With the video easily available, Trump's argument boiled down to "Who do you trust, me or your lying eyes?"
When Trump says something that outrages a portion of the population and pleases one segment, he can have it both ways. Voters eager for a tough guy president may be happy with the bully, while those who don't like it might be appeased by the denial. In the end, few people can keep up with all the facts all the time. And as he tries to undercut the credibility of serious journalists, he makes it even harder for everyone else to find an easy path to the truth.
Just before Friday's intelligence briefing on Russian hacks, Trump approvingly tweeted about Julian Assange's statements denying Russian involvement. When he was criticized for trusting the head of WikiLeaks more than US intelligence professionals, he accused the "dishonest media" of claiming he agreed with Assange.
The fact is, many people hear only Trump's version of events, and polls show many people believe even the most obvious distortions of the truth.
He's just getting started, but compared with the man he admires so much, he's a rank amateur at gaslighting.
In Russia, the truth became a matter of opinion under a strategy implemented by a clever aide to President Vladimir Putin, Vladislav Surkov. Surkov, who has a background in the arts, orchestrated a kind of political theater in Russia, creating a gauzy façade where no one knew which group was a creation of the government and which wasn't.
He reportedly financed liberal groups and neo-Nazi skinheads. Russian politics became theater, and Putin gradually gained almost total control, with the independent media gradually disappearing as an alternative to journalists loyal to the government.
Russia's false reality then moved from the domestic arena to global theater. When "little green men" made their appearance in Ukraine's Crimea, Russia denied that there were Russian operatives in unmarked uniforms. And when pro-Russian militias emerged in Ukraine and elsewhere, Moscow claimed they emerged spontaneously in a quest for independence, even as Russian military forces moved into position in a sovereign country
Russia even tried to gaslight US voters, as intelligence agencies concluded, trying to undermine their faith in the democratic process. And when Moscow thought Trump would lose, it planned to promote the view that the election was stolen, under the #DemocracyRIP banner, a plan whose seeds Trump had already planted.
The challenge will be a steep one for journalists and for all Americans, when so much of what comes from the next president has to be checked and double-checked. The first step is to establish when there is a gaslighting operation in progress.
Then comes the battle to hold on to the facts."[/I]

Yet he is President Elect of the United States of America , go figure eh .
go figure .indeed. I think he appeals to the uneducated, unsophisticated, basic folks who seem to be in the majority. I think he appeals to the rebels , the angry (for whatever reason ) Also the "bored"..those just bored with status quo..or what they perceive as status quo. Will be very interesting to see how a modified business model for governing will work. Not sure Donald follows a business model anyhow. He is the con of the deal. Everything is a deal to him... and he is always right ..in his own mind.In reality he is a bit of a dictator wrapped in the US flag. IMHO.the most concerning factor of all this is the uncertainty , the unpredictability and his over reactivity to anything he does not like. He takes all criticism and comments PERSONALYand that is not a good thing for someone with that kind of responsibility. His VP elect is a bit more reasonable. .so hopefully there3 will be a balance that leans towards reasosn , facts and science based evidence for decision making.

I would say that Donald has very few of the prerequisites necessary to be President BUT has one very important prerequisite and that being he's about 6 times as qualified as Hillary. Christ, I can't even stand the woman and I live in a different country. I think the U.S. electorate realized that once she became President she would do absolutely nothing to "rock the boat"- in other words she'd be absolutely useless at a time when big changes are necessary and Trump is going to make a couple of them.

POLL: 74% of Americans Feel Donald Trump Should Release His Tax Returns

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll released today reveals that despite what President-elect Donald Trump has said regarding the American public’s interest in seeing his tax returns, the vast majority of people would like for him to release the documents.

Per the survey, 74% of respondents said the incoming POTUS should show his tax returns. 93% of of Hillary Clinton supporters were in favor of this as were 83% of independents. Even 49% of Trump voters feel he needs to release the returns.

The poll also covered some of the concerns over Trump’s compliance with ethics laws and guidelines. 43% feel the soon-to-be president is doing enough right now to comply with ethics laws compared to 44% who believe he isn’t. 52% state that Trump’s proposed plan to have his sons manage his businesses is sufficient while 42% state that Trump should sell his businesses. As one would expect, these divide largely on partisan lines.

Regarding his tax returns, Trump has long insisted that they have been under audit and thus he is unable to make them public, repeating this claim at his long-awaited press conference last week. He also told reporters at the presser that they are the only ones interested in seeing the returns, saying the public didn’t “care at all” (He said the same thing during the campaign.)

Of course he should release his Tax info. Especially considering his rather dysfunctional financial history ..His reluctance to do so. makes him look suspect. (as it should) But then he considers himself above everyone else and the rules don't apply to him. or are there to be bent and twisted to suit him. Makes him a very dangerous person...when handling so much power. His approval ratings are in the 30 s which speaks volumes about him.

Perhaps when Donald stops reacting like a child and attacking/picking on others, including other nations .only then can a don't pick on Trump have any validity.

He has dissed off several nations and various individuals in just the last 48 hrs. It is important to note: those that voted for this bloke.are responsible for all the dissent he has already sown. and unrest and uncertainty he plans to sow. He is not qualified for the job and is proving that even before he takes office. If anyone thinks he will change...after Friday.... the only change that will happen is that he will start exercising his maassive power. in the same destructive way he is behaving now....unless he is held in check by more sensible people And NO.governing via Twitter is not cute, is not progressive, or fashionable. In his case it is an outlet for his personal rage. The bloke needs therapy. Wonder if he can say those things directly in person.
what is astounding is that there is outcry about his petty knee jerk twitter reactions... OK.this is fine for the US.. they can have him. But he is already meddling on the world stage in a negative way. What is really concerning is that he is playing right into Putins hand..and is too blind to see it.
