Re: Canadian oil production could slow down or freeze altogether, report warns

If the forecaster were so good why did they miss warning everyone about the slump we are in long before the slump happened. Lower prices back then was all about punishing Putin. Memo: we are taking a bigger hit than Russia is so much for that plan.

Short sellers like generating panic reports. It causes weak minded to sell vigorously causing prices to go down. This is how they make their money. Of course reporters and financial rags like doom and gloom because it sells more copy or gets more ratings.

are you sure you know what an information auditor is?
your welcome,a laugh is good for the heart,I am glad you had a belly laugh.

I do not work systems like computers, etc,i tend to work with design of information,
for instance i would not be the direct telemarketer,my speciality would be the design of telemarketer design, information may be designed to advantage the company, ihave never done this, but this may help you in visualizing what i do and do well.
i tend to specialize in information design of public institutions and sidekicks of same.
i had seen myself working in contracting to social designs such as commissions, inquests, etc
or private companies who are seeking crisis assessments of information design.
I also have some other talents but I am not going to disclose them at this time, maybe later if you are nicer.
i was totally addicted to information design assessment at one time.

n the old days that would have been called a BULL$HITOLOGIST.

Interesting read from a little over a year ago, more relevant now than it was then. The environmental lobby, however you want to regard it, has become a force to contend with, and has been making its presence known in a big way through opposition of anythhing they see as further development for the fossil fuel industry.

It doesn't strike you as being 'funny' that fossil fuel become a 'really bad thing' just as the world become capable of using it at it's cleanest since the industrial revolution began? That also happens to come at a time when people on the fringe of civilization get a chance to be part of a global community when news is coming in 'real time' for them.

This would be like the 'coal diggers' living like the Monarchs in the 1710's. The only ones that objected to a raise were the Monarchs.

Unstoppable Gas Leaks in Texas Even Worse than California's, Media Silent

If this starts a trend at sites that are 'storage caverns' then all that is happening is the part of a barrel of oil that allows it to go 'bang' is escaping and what will be left is only a lubricating fluid rather than something an engine can run on. Under pressure would be all that is needed and the heat contained in the natural rock that deep is enough to boil methane out of the mix (as well as anything else that is highly flammable) It would also mean the 'capping' in Calif just means the methane is all gone from the caverns. That would mean imports better be happening sooner rather than later if gasoline is to remain plentiful..
Any idea what the temp is as you go down in depth. The gold mines in Africa heat up pretty quickly considering those are 'shallow holes'?

It's not so much what is factually true about Canada's fossil fuel industry, it's what the general public perceives as true. Just how well informed a voter is takes second place to the fact that they still get a vote even if they spend it based on inaccurate information, and the political machine runs on votes. Many are quick to paint the current government as irresponsible in not pushing for more pipelines to get Canadian product to market, but from their point of view the wishes of the majority of Canadian voters are not clear. There is a significant portion of the electorate who would be happy to see the fossil fuel industry gasp its last breath.

The 'facts' and the 'publication' of them are a rarity rather than 'the norm' publication of the minutes from the meetings of any publicly traded company should be made available to 'the public' so 'they' can make an 'informed investment of their personal money'. That list would include all voter (18 and over) and all wage earners (14 and older).

Just how well informed a voter is takes second place to the fact that they still get a vote even if they spend it based on inaccurate information, and the political machine runs on votes.
No it doesn't, it runs on the lobbying that takes place long before the 'illusion' that voting is the main controlling element in the ways things are 'run'. Voting has always been rigged, now that it is electronic it is easier than ever. They should have 6 months where the vote can be changed as new developments in some stories become 'important facts'.
Say the Saudis were brought on war crimes, JT could be compelled to be a witness for the Prosecution and he would have to turn over the complete list of what we have sold them since about 2000AD as some attacks have used forbidden weapons or been against forbidden targets. Which way would vote, that he willingly supply a full list or send it to the US for 'approval' before it is submitted to the ICC?

Many are quick to paint the current government as irresponsible in not pushing for more pipelines to get Canadian product to market,
It depends on how deep the snow is going to get in the next 20 years. The good news is they won't have to rely on the US shipping them energy. I'm pretty sure AB is only responsible to transferring funds so they can buy imported crude at the same price AB is selling their crude for rather than falsely enriching some other Nation when the old lines should have been upgrade a few decades back when long lasting material first came on the market. It isn't like the elite back east are going to lose any fingers or toes to the cold.

but from their point of view the wishes of the majority of Canadian voters are not clear.
Sorry, what was that? (explain further)

There is a significant portion of the electorate who would be happy to see the fossil fuel industry gasp its last breath.
I doubt that with the exception of people involved in that industry. When something becomes that important to a country it deserves to be made a necessity of life' (like banking) rather than a 'for profit' company.

Canadian oil production could slow down or freeze altogether, report warns

CALGARY — The International Energy Agency is warning that Canadian oil production could slow down, if not come to a "complete standstill," once projects that are now under construction are completed.....

You are just a continuous ray of sunshine, aren't you?

...The article says 'new' production may came to a standstill. Not all oil production.

Canadian oil production growth could slow down or freeze altogether, warns report

I mean there is a split in the electorate for those in favor of further fossil fuel development and those against, with significant numbers on both sides. A politician has to be aware of this, ignoring any sizable segment of the electorate may just lose him his/her job.

When something becomes that important to a country it deserves to be made a necessity of life' (like banking) rather than a 'for profit' company.

There are many who would agree with that in principle, but there is a break between what should be and what is. I would have thought that the economic benefits of weaning our oil industry off the American market to be obvious to most, but all the efforts to get the infrastructure in place to do so have met with enough opposition to bring progress to a standstill.

Saudi oil minister's message for high-cost crude producers: 'get out' of market

Saudi oil minister's message for high-cost crude producers: 'get out' of market

Saudi Arabia's oil minister told a crowd of U.S. oil executives in Texas on Tuesday exactly what they were afraid of hearing: that OPEC is more than happy to ride out cheap crude prices until higher-cost producers are pushed out of the market.

Ali al-Naimi, the man in charge of managing Saudi Arabia's vast crude oil industry, made the comments in a hotly anticipated speech at the IHS Ceraweek energy conference in Houston on Tuesday.

It was standing room only this morning as hundreds of energy executives, researchers and analysts came to hear what one of OPEC's most powerful voices had to say.

The speech was translated into Russian and Chinese, there were people from dozens of countries on hand, and they all had one key thing in common, their lives have been turned upside down by the man on the stage.

Another Oil Crash Is Coming, and There May Be No Recovery

Another Oil Crash Is Coming, and There May Be No Recovery

Superior electric cars are on their way, and they could begin to wreck oil markets within a decade.

It’s time for oil investors to start taking electric cars seriously.

In the next two years, Tesla and Chevy plan to start selling electric cars with a range of more than 200 miles priced in the $30,000 range. Ford is investing billions, Volkswagen is investing billions, and Nissan and BMW are investing billions. Nearly every major carmaker—as well as Apple and Google—is working on the next generation of plug-in cars.

This is a problem for oil markets. OPEC still contends that electric vehicles will make up just 1 percent of global car sales in 2040. Exxon's forecast is similarly dismissive.

The oil price crash that started in 2014 was caused by a glut of unwanted oil, as producers started cranking out about 2 million barrels a day more than the market supported. Nobody saw it coming, despite the massively expanding oil fields across North America. The question is: How soon could electric vehicles trigger a similar oil glut by reducing demand by the same 2 million barrels?

That's the subject of the first installment of Bloomberg’s new animated web series Sooner Than You Think, which examines some of the biggest transformations in human history that haven’t happened quite yet. Tomorrow, analysts at Bloomberg New Energy Finance will weigh in with a comprehensive analysis of where the electric car industry is headed.

Even amid low gasoline prices last year, electric car sales jumped 60 percent worldwide. If that level of growth continues, the crash-triggering benchmark of 2 million barrels of reduced demand could come as early as 2023. That's a crisis. The timing of new technologies is difficult to predict, but it may not be long before it becomes impossible to ignore.
