Yeah, there's a few people who think a persons occupation is commensurate with their intelligence/education and that very often isn't the case at all. One of the smartest and most capable people I knew had a grade 5 education.
If it was British it'd work. It's probably American.
Where'd you get that idea from? The UK economy is performing better than any other country in the EU (and that includes Ireland) and is set to grow faster than any other major Western economy this year. Britain is powering ahead.
Both Britain and Ireland are expected to see 3.5% GDP growth in 2014 and Iceland is expected to grow 2.5% However, even compared to Iceland, Canada is very much the poor relation - expecting to see just 2.3% GDP growth in 2014.
GDP growth in Ireland may be the same as Britain's this year, but Ireland's unemployment rate is a huge 11.2%, whereas Britain's is 6.2%.
Whilst the Irish economy may be growing at the same speed as the British economy, it has been helped along by that whopping huge bailout Britain gave it that it will have to pay back.
Almost everybody in Britain is educated. It's illegal for children to not attend school.
And as the OP shows, Britain is the eighth-most educated country in the world.
However, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit, Britain has the SIXTH best education in the world and the second-best in Europe. The only countries with better education than Britain are South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Finland.
