This occurred at about 240 AD.
They were 8 Christian men who ran away from a Roman king called داقيوس Daqius who was an idolater: he persecuted the monotheists.
At that time, Christians worshipped God alone without associate, and believed Jesus was an apostle sent by God and that he was not any son of God or God Himself.

So these Christians: the devoted to God alone, ran away from that tyrant, and resorted to a cave outside their city.
This cave is about one hour walking on feet distance from Amman in Jordan, near a village called the Rajeeb.
Near that cave was a grave yard, and at the door of the cave was a stone written on it (later on) their names.

So they resorted to that cave and prayed God to accompany them by someone to bring them their food and other needs --> so God let a shepherd accompany them together with his dog.

When they went in that cave, God made them sleep deeply together with their dog; then the king was told about them, so he came with his soldiers and saw them sleeping; so he ordered the gate of the cave be closed by building so that they would die in that cave; then he left them there and went his way.

They slept in that cave, then some years later, the king died, and things changed, and people became Christians: two parties: these two parties knew about the story of these 8 men, but they did not know about their fate: people thought they had died.

This was a miracle of God Almighty.

Then after the elapsing of the 20-30 years of their sleeping in that cave, a shepherd passed by that place, and he saw the gate built with bricks; he needed some bricks, so he started to take the bricks --> then fresh air came into that cave, and these righteous men awoke.

This is in the Quran 18: 9-26

The explanation:
(Or do you [Mohammed] think the Men of the Cave and the [stone] inscribed on [it their names] were among Our wonderful signs!?
When the youths resorted to the cave, and said: "Our Lord, bestow on us mercy from You and make for us our affairs easy and upright."
So We impeded [noise and sounds from reaching] their ears, [to let them sleep] in the cave, for a number of countable years [less than 30 years.]
Afterwards We raised them up, that We might know which of the two parties would give a better estimation of the time of their tarrying.
We will relate to you [Mohammed] their tidings with true [words.] They were youths who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance.
And We made firm their hearts, that they rose and said: "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth; never shall we worship any god apart from Him; [for if we did], we then should have uttered extremely false words."
"These our people have taken for worship gods apart from Him: why do they not produce an authority clear [and convincing] for those [whom they worship]? Then who does more wrong than such as invents a falsehood against God?"
So, when you have gone apart from them and that they serve, apart from God, resort to the cave, and your Lord will shower for you of His mercy, and will prepare a companion for you in your plight.)

Wrong!

Christians, by the very definition, have always believed that Christ was deity - otherwise they weren't Christians!

Himself.
Mo was a creation of Catholics sent by the Pope to give Arabs their own monotheistic religion worshipping the one true God and under the control of Rome.

Slept mentally of physically? I'm not going to have to explain your book again am I?

They slept physically.
You are not the one to explain it, because you don't understand it; actually you are blind about its wisdom.

Wrong!

Christians, by the very definition, have always believed that Christ was deity - otherwise they weren't Christians!

You are fanatic; therefore you are nervous and your replies are nervous indicating you know the Quran is the truth, but in a psychological self defence you are nervous and cannot have the flexibility of mind; i.e. you are afraid lest you should admit the truth and cry: the Quran is the truth from God the One without associate or son.

Sorry. It was a metaphorical mental sleep. You should really just give up and join us Catholics.

No Roman emperor by that name in or around 240AD.

I found it written in Arabic as داقيوس Daqius is its pronunciation.

This is in the interpretation of the late interpreter of the Quran and the Bible Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly, and he referred to a book in Arabic called (The discovery of the cave of the people of the cave), by an Arabian Archeologist Rafīq Wafā Dajjānī .

The cave had been found in the time of Ayyobite in Jordan and they reestabished the building of the mosque on that cave, then it was affected and deserted by the passing of time, (Ahmed son of Hawwa renewed its buiding in the year 227 AH Arabic calender).

Then the directorate of Archeology of Jordan made the excavation in the year 1963, and they found the indications of its authenticity, and that the cave was their graveyard; and found a stone written on it:

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم i.e. In the name of God Most Gracious, Most Merciful --- This is what the prince Haybat ordered to renew the front aspect of the cave ...etc.

In English they are known as The Seven Sleepers.

I now find it: the name of the Roman emperor was Decius (201—251 AD) who persecuted Christians, then he was killed with his son in the battle of Abrittus .

I found the name of that idolater: the Roman emperor: Decius (201—251)

The village near which is that cave in Jordan is called Rajeeb about 4-8 km from Amman.

Here is the image of the front gate of the cave of the Seven Sleepers or the Men of the Cave.

FIRST:

The sleeping of the men of the cave was a miracle

It was one of God’s signs of might and ability; it was not an ordinary event.

God proved to people His might and ability to let man live all these 20-30 years continuously without awaking from sleep.

As in the Quran 18: 9

The explanation:

(Or do you [Mohammed] think the Men of the Cave and the "stone* inscribed on" were among Our wonderful signs!?)

* One of the customs of Christians is that they write the name of the dead on a stone near or on the grave.

And this aya 18: 17

The explanation:

(That was [one] of the miraculous signs of God.)

==================================================

SECOND:

God proved to people His might and ability to let man liveall these 20-30 years continuously without awaking from sleep.

And He proved to people the sending of man to the afterlifelike the awakening of man from sleep.

The tidings of the “men of the cave” or the “Seven Sleepers”had been written by the Christians of that city, but they didn’t know had theydied or not, and their names were written as righteous believers.

The people of that city were divided into two Christianparties.

And God awakened them to see the reaction of the twoparties; as in the Quran 18: 11-12

The explanation:

(SoWe impeded [noise and sounds from reaching] their ears, [to let them sleep] inthe cave, for a number of countable years.

AfterwardsWe raised them up, that We might know which of the two parties would give a better estimation of the time of their tarrying.)

==========================================

THIRD:

God explained to people in this miracle that His wordof promise will be fulfilled and He will never break His promise.

As in the Quran 18: 21

The explanation:

(And in like manner We disclosed them [to the people of the city] that they might know that the promise of God is true and that, as forthe Hour, there is no doubt concerning it.)

STFU, do you seriously expect any sane individual to believe that some men slept for 25 years in a cave?
Seriously, get your head checked, you're delusional and crazy. Also, have a beer and some pork.

FOURTH:

When man devotes himself to God alone without associate, and when he puts his trust in God alone and relies on Him exclusively à then God will save him from tyrants and from dangers and will support him.

As in the Quran 18: 16

The explanation:

(So,when you have gone apart from them and that they serve, apart from God, ---

resort to the cave, and your Lord will shower for you of His mercy, and will prepare a companion for you in your plight.)

So God let rain come down, and brought to them a shepherd who became their companion together with his dog.

The shepherd slept together with them in that cave as did the dog spread his arms and sleep in the entrance of the gate of the cave.

The doctrine of the men of the cave (or the Seven Sleepers):

Actually by adding the shepherd they were 8 and their dog was their ninth.

They were some of the early Christian believers believed in God alone without associate or son; they believed Jesus Christ was only an apostle and a righteous man and son of man, not son of God.

They did not agree with their people who were enthusiastic and idolaters at that time, and God set on those people a tyrant who pursued and persecuted those who did not believe in his idolatry.

So they ran away from him, and went to this cave to hide there.

It is in the Quran 18: 13-14

(We will relate to you [Mohammed] their tidings with true [words.] They were youths who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance.

Why is it there are never any women heros in your stories?

The woman hero were two women set as a parable for believers who do not associate anyone with God:
These two women are:

The wife of Pharaoh .. a believer and honest woman who concealed her faith and prayed God to save her from Pharaoh.
And Mary the mother of Jesus Christ .. a chast woman and honest who believed in God alone and in the Ten Commandments.

As in the Quran 66: 11-12

The explanation:

(God mentions [as] anexample for believers –– the wife of Pharaoh [;she converted and surrendered to God, so Pharaoh tormented her till death,] when she said: "My Lord, build for me a house in Paradise, in your neighborhood, and save me from Pharaoh and his works and save me from the people of the wrong-doers [Pharaoh's people.]"

And Mary: Imran's daughter, who guarded her virginity, so We breathed into her [womb] by Our spirit [: Gabriel], and she believed in the [Ten] Words of her Lord [: the Ten Commandments] and His scriptures [: the scripture of Abraham, the Law of Moses, the Psalms of David and the Gospel of Jesus], and was one of the devout [servants.])
