Ironsides, there is a big difference between Obama deficit and Bush deficit. Bush inherited a healthy, roaring economy, he inherited a healthy budget surplus. Bush blew it all away, on tax cuts benefiting mostly the rich. In the process, he got rid of all the surplus and replaced it with huge deficits.

It was a self inflicted wound, bush was totally to blame for the deficit. Obama on the other hand, inherited a precarious economy, one which had every possibility of falling off a cliff. Drastic measures needed to be taken to avoid a serious depression, of the 30s style. Desperate situation calls for desperate actions.

So I for one wouldn’t blame Obama for running huge deficits, he had to do something to keep the economy from going into a long term depression. But you are right, the deficit cannot be sustained for long. There are some signs that the worst may be over, that we may finally see the much anticipated recovery. If that happens, I would like to see Obama run in 2012 on the platform of reducing the deficit and balancing the budget.

It may very well have been a self inflicted wound, but you do not stab yourself more in order to get better. The way he is going now, Obama will never in his lifetime see us with a reduced or balanced budget. That will be up to our grandchildren to fix. I understand we had to spend some money to help recover, but Obama has gone to far.

I'd like to see him run in 1994 also. (saw that Freudian slip)

Lets see, the Bush administration set about economic principals that destroyed the
world monetary system and damn near put the world in bankruptcy, and you are going to complain about the plan to attempt to restore it. Eight years of deregulation and allowing the bankers and financiers to run over the rules and do as they please, that didn't cause a problem. I am somewhat miffed at Obama too.
He didn't use the financial power of the state to hammer the greedy, and to take
over more of the larger companies fire the executives and sell the assets to people
who could actually run them. The other thing they should have done was to eliminate all bonuses for executives, and put a cap on the amount they can make
at the top. Business always talks about responsibility and accountability and they
have displayed neither for the last 10 to 20 and now its time for an adjustment
Sorry but conservative policy got us to the stage where we have to ask the little
guy to bail them out so now its time to discipline the big shots who created this
but we must also pay the price of right wing conservative waste. Therefore lets
clip their wings. The bonus for doing a good job is you get to keep your job
and we all know what the alternative is for a lousy job. Personally I have had
enough of these people who are conservatives and don't want to fix the problem
or acknowledge the mess their leaders made.

Do you honestly think Bush and gang did all this by themselves. We do have a lot of rich liberals (how can a true influential liberal not be rich) that had to have a hand in the problem over the years also. I am not counting the average person no matter how right or left they may feel.

Ironsides, it makes no difference. The conservative administration facillitated the mess, they were in power and invoked the down turn in the markets. Bush is the
biggest fool of the century and it has scarcly begun. Bush is the guy who gave people 600 dollars each to go shopping to improve the economy. Of course he had
to print the money to do it and risked increasing inflation. After eight years of
conservative voodoo economics, the financial institutions had to be saved or the
entire world economy would certainly go down, and it way do that anyway. The
problem is the conservatives set in motion the destructive path downward for the
economy and they didn't have a plan to correct it. I am not saying Obama has a
plan that will ultimately work but at least there is a plan something that did not
exist before. In addition conservative foreign policy created division among allies
and iflamed tensions around the world. Arrogance and incompetence were the
order of the day. This in turn created mistrust of America in general. Look
around my friend this country followed suit and today we are not as respected
as we once were. Come to think of it, convervative monatary policy set the
stage for the last great depression too.

So you agree that some money had to be spent to avert a disaster created by Bush. It is just a matter of degree. You think Obama is spending a bit more, somebody else may think that he is spending just right.

Good gawd people....get a grip. Democratic and Republican politicians (going back twenty years) have their finger prints all over this mess. To try and put the blame on one person or party does nothing but shine a huge, bright spot light on ideologues.

"Sorry, I forgot he had to resign in shame."

That is true about Nixon.

But LBJ's cowardly sneaking out of being nominated again clearly defines what LBJ was all about. He fell into the Presidency, undeserved, and remained undeserved till its very end.

Resigning is far more honourable and honest than being resoundly defeated, a fate this Texan reprobate faced in an other election.

LBJ's only accuity is his recognizing the fact that the electorate knew that he was an usurping fraud. His chicken-sh1t response to his nomination was a tacit admission that he knew that the votes he would have gathered would have been less than those who favoured Nixon after Watergate.

Yukon Jack, I think LBJ was one of the greatest presidents in 20th century, his accomplishments are grossly underrated.

Most of the legislation he passed (many times with bipartisan support) is still with the Americans, they are still living by it. Civil Rights legislation, Voting Rights Act, The Great Society program, Medicare, Medicaid, war against poverty, appointment of first black Supreme Court justice, setting up of National Endowment of Arts, space program, the list goes on and on.

LBJ accomplished more in four years than most presidents accomplish in eight years. Any president would be proud to have done even a fraction of what LBJ managed to do. Obama is struggling to pass the heath care legislation and it will be considered a great victory for him if he does so. Health care was but a small part of Johnson legacy.

His problem was that his presidency was tarnished by Vietnam war. But on domestic front, he was easily the greatest president ever, USA is still enjoying the fruits of LBJ’s labours. No president in US history has had such a long lasting impact, lasting over several decades now (and at least several decades to come).

Obama Administration Argues Against Releasing Bush-Era Detainee Information

The Obama administration told a judge late Monday that it will continue to withhold information regarding past detainee policies for national security reasons, a decision assailed by the American Civil Liberties Union, which had been seeking Bush-era documents “including a presidential directive authorizing CIA ‘black sites,’” CIA inspector general records, Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel documents about the CIA's use of "enhanced interrogation techniques.”

Obama and DOE Violate Federal Law Enlisting Kids in Schools to Push Agenda
WASHINGTON, Sept. 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- In what is an unprecedented and an illegal political move, President Obama has announced that on Tuesday, September 8, he will bypass parents and directly target their children in an effort to implement his political agenda. Millions of parents are justifiably outraged. Federal law expressly forbids the Secretary of Education or any officer from exercising "any direction, supervision, or control over the curriculum, program of instruction, administration, or personnel of any educational institution, school, or school system." 20 U.S.C. § 3403. The President must cease this illegal activity.

OBAMA’S MIND-CONTROL SPEECH
TO AMERICA’S STUDENTS
By Brother Nathanael Kapner, Copyright 2009
CONTROLLING THE MINDS OF THE YOUTH is the prime agenda of all elitist political systems.
PRIOR TO OBAMA’S SPEECH, students are instructed to read books about Barack Obama. The first book, Barack Obama: Son Of Promise, Child Of Hope, portrays Obama on the front cover and in its text as a defiant young militant black. Why? To indoctrinate our youth against a white middle class status quo. A central feature of Obama’s masters is to keep the American people so fragmented so as to guarantee their elitist rule.

Red Flag To Fly Over White House

'Lest anyone doubt the communist leanings of President Barack Obama, look no further than to his decision to hoist the Red Chinese flag (for the first time in history) over the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, September 20.
Trying to find words to describe the extreme offensiveness of flying the Communist Chinese flag over the White House challenges my vocabulary. Words such as UNBELIEVABLE, UNREAL, HORRIFIC, OBSCENE, even TRAITOROUS quickly come to mind. Maybe Obama really is the Manchurian Candidate.'

SirJosephPorter, Civil Rights and Voter Rights all came about during Nixon. LBJ had NOTHING to do with it.

Medicare and Medicaide are bankrupt.

War on poverty is three trillion dollars in the hole with no end in sight.

First black Supreme Court Justice. If you were just as jubilant about the second black Justice, your enthusiasm could be justified.

Crucifix in piss? If you all that kind of endowment for the arts a success, you are welcome to it. Reveals your ignorance.

LBJ? Engineered the murder of his President. Is that great?

When Clarence Thomas was going through his confirmation hearings the Democrats showed their true colors. Thomas dared to not kneel and grovel at the feet of Liberal Democrats and they attempted to smear him and failed miserably. It was a Clarence Thomas said...

"Nothing but a high tech lynching for uppity blacks."

And the Liberals were SHOCKED at him playing the race card!
