From listening to the commentary during the recent games I kind of got the message that team Canada was largely comprised of lines off various N.H.L. teams. YOu have to excuse my ignorance here but in my doddering years I haven't been closely following the other 29 teams in the league, although I know who Crosby and Thornton belong to.:lol:

Joe Thornton plays for the San Jose Sharks and Sidney Crosby plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Most of the players both on the Canadian team and the U.S. team are NHL professional's all this talk about gaining experience etc, they are experienced. We can and should get nothing less than perfection from them. This is no different than a Stanley Cup match.

Except players on a Stanley Cup contending team have been playing together for six months. It takes time to learn new teammates, strategies etc

Ryan Getzlaf and Cory Perry play together in Anaheim, and
are together on team canada, great duo.

Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook play defence together in
chicago, and came as a pair, excellent choice.

Shay Webber is a big defencemen who plays for nashville, and
is big, powerful and very talented, he is the one who shot
the puck 'through' the net the other day, and there was no
hole in the net, they showed the black marks from the puck
as it was forced through the webbing, his shot is so hard,
and that is a good example of just how hard he can shoot.

That was some shot, even with the replays I couldn't see it go thru the net. :)

I watched most of the Canada-Russia game and if I hadn't been told otherwise I'd have thought Canada was playing against a bush league team from Upper Mongolia.

Maybe they should think about going somewhere else, other
than home, do they still have the 'salt mines' there?
Coach and players might have steady work soon, but not in
hockey.

lol

no I couldn't either, but I thought after, what if a shot like that 'hit'
one of the players on the way through, with shots getting that hard, it is
a bit 'scary' thinking about it, if that shot had of contacted someones face/head
area, it could kill him.

Oh yeah, it's a lot different, they don't spend 30% of the game time fighting.:lol::lol:
Strictly hockey, no boxing or raslin'.

I sure wish 'those' staged fights would disappear from our
games, I can tolerate the odd one that breaks out from
raw emotion at the time, but please not those planned ones,
it compares our game to roller derby or wrestling.
And I wouldn't mind if they were totally banned, just look
at how good this tournament is, and how good our playoffs
are, where they don't fight, and control 'themselves' to
do that.
But I guess fighting is a 'crowd draw', and the NHL won't tinker
with that.

That much I knew but that is nearing my feeble limit.

Sorry

I skimmed your post and obviously attatched my own meaning to it. Today I'm trying to do three different things at the same time and blowing it.

Hey #Juan- no need to apologize, I wasn't admonishing you- hope your day improves. I'm also trying to do several things, the most difficult of which is educating one of our resident posters (who doesn't know quite as much as I do.........:lol::lol::lol::lol:) and I know very little :lol:

The leafs does that to people...

well seriously, he has lots of natural talent, great hands,
and a good mind for the game, but he doesn't 'naturally'
have much 'drive', self admitted, and he is so small, and
not very strong, and his skating isn't the greatest, so
he can shine from time to time, but not enough.
