Ah! The sweet taste of irony. While they are bemoaning the fact that their right to bear arms is being attacked, they seem to forget that he (whether he is wrong or right) has the right to Free Speech.

I'd let him stay. He's merely comical and is no threat. Banning him makes the people that want him banned no different than he is. Frackin funny!

To be honest, if they were ever going to "ban" anyone, I'd rather it be those West Baptist idiots. Of course, they are entitled to their views as well, no matter how vile I find them.

I knew you would be all over this like white on rice. Too bad you don't understand the reason behind the Second Amendment.

Did you read the comment??

Let me simplify it for you.

I was defending Piers Morgan's right to say what he pleased, to be ignorant, rude, and idiotic, and to attack the Constitution, as his freedom of speech is protected by the first amendment.

You understand??

I was defending Morgan's right to say as he pleases, even though he is totally wrong, and a complete arsehole.

The move to have him kicked out of the country is hypocritical, as those defending the second amendment seem to have forgotten the first..........

You got it now??

Here, let me simplify it further.......

See Piers. See Piers being rude. See Piers proving he can not read the constitution.

See the gun guys. See the gun guys try to silence Piers. See the gun guys prove they can not read the constitution either.

Perhaps you can understand that...if not, you're hopeless.

BTW, I understand the reason behind the constitution very well.

The Second Amendment is rooted in the English Bill of Rights of 1689, which recognized an ancient limited right of the people to keep arms for their defense.......

The British in the New World violated that right when they set off into the countryside to seize arms at Lexington and Concord, and were met with resistance from armed colonials.

The states bucked at signing on the the original constitution because it held no Bill of Rights to guarantee individual liberties.....the response were the first tem amendments, which grant those individual rights.........

The purpose of the Second Amendment is twofold:

1. The people, who taken all together are the militia, have the right to keep military-style personal arms to defend themselves from tyranny, and so in case of emergency they may offer themselves for service bearing their own weapons.

2. The people have the right to bear arms to defend themselves against attack.

BTW, Merry Christmas. :)

Even sleazy wankers like Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan have the right to be wrong.

I'd much rather see him eventually skewered for his Daily Mirror phone hacking sorties.

They are nuts in the States. The head of the NRA went on television last week calling for the arming of all teachers in the classroom.

It's the culture of guns that gives the U.S. the highest murder and gun violence rate in the developed world. This has nothing to do with the right to own hunting rifles.. it has all come down to the right to own military assault weapons with extended ammunition clips.. that don't even make sense for home defense. The owner would be as likely blow apart his family and responding police for a rustle of leaves in the back yard as deter a thief. There have been several incidents of homeowners blowing away paper boys.. or their own kids.. assuming they were under armed attack.

The same ethos that produced the Tea Party is behind the gun lobby. A paranoid delusion that vast forces are arrayed against the 'defenseless' American family.. from which the only John Wayne individualism of the home fortress.. free of taxation and regulation and armed to the teeth can defend.

Rabid economic and social libertarianism is destroying the American economy and society.. and allowing psychos to roam schools and work places.. looking for payback for a wasted life.. and 15 minutes of fame.

Since when did calling for the deportation of someone become 'silencing' contrary to the 1st Amendment?

Are there no satellite dishes in England?

This guy feels that gun makers should go to jail when their guns kill people and I agree.

Guns kill people

What if the person that did the killing was wearing a pair of Adidas shoes... Should the administration of Adidas and maybe the factory workers that made them also go to jail if the perp tried to run away?

Aiding and abetting, you understand

Mistake Number One: LaPierre is not calling for the arming of all teachers. He is calling for police in the schools as a stop-gap measure, professional armed guards in the long run, and training and licensing for those that wish to carry at the schools.

Mistake Number Two: The United States does not have the highest murder rate in the developed world. Brazil is the world's sixth largest economy, and has a murder rate of 21.0 per 100,000, exactly FIVE TIMES that in the USA. Oh, and Brazil has strict gun control.

Mistake Number Three: Military pattern rifles cause murder. Baloney. The AR 15 is the TOP selling rifle in the USA. There are over three million of them in circulation. Yet, in the last 20 years, the US murder rate has dropped well over 50%.

Since when did calling for the deportation of someone become 'silencing' contrary to the 1st Amendment?

Are there no satellite dishes in England?

Point.

Except that I would assume deporting an individual because of what he says is punishment, and thus an attempt to silence him.......

I heard LaPierre on one of the Sunday morning talk shows.. much replayed in the news shows calling for teachers to be armed.

Brazil is recognized as 2nd world or 'developing' economy.. go to the barrios of Sao Paulo and you'll see why.. it is a country with a seething underclass that is not participating at all in Brazil's economic boom.. in fact are fueling it in sweatshops and Maquilladoras .. by way of Free Trade.

As for the murder rate.. tell that to the kids at Newtown Elementary.. all 20 of them gunned down by an AR 15 with an extended clip. If you build guns intended to kill people.. not hunt food.. that's exactly what they'll be used for.

So which one don't you like, the rifle or the clip? And how is the size of the clip relevant to the number of defenseless people murdered?

I'm for a nice deer stalker.. Kimber or Browning.. .270, 130 grain.. bolt action, magazine capacity 3.. well crafted in wood and steel.. bought for the most part by honest outdoors enthusiasts.

Only drooling idiots with severe personality disorders buy AR 15s with 30 round clips of .45 or .50 hollow point.. as they are virtually useless for hunting.

But they are the NRAs most enthusiastic supporters.. and they see their neighbourhood as a war zone, in fact a free fire zone.. driven on by computer game fantasies.

Ahhh....

The AR 15 platform is the BEST selling rifle in the USA.

The AR 15 fires the .223 Remington cartridge, which is excellent for coyotes.

The AR 15 rifle is no different from the myriad other semi auto sporting rifles, except in its appearance.

Versions of the same AR 15 actions can be had in 6.8mm and in .308 Winchester (the AR 10), both decent deer cartridges.

All that said, the second amendment is not about hunting........

The AR 15 is exactly the rifle protected by the second amendment.

Barney Frank just stepped in and got it all slowed down. He has offered Piers a life time contract in the Frank All Male Bordello in DC. Piers is now giving this offer some serious thought. It may offer a new era for his jaws. He and Anderson are "fond" of each other.

.

Well if you look critically at the Second Amendment in the context of the time it was written it had nothing to do with gun rights.. it dealt with the right of communities to form citizen militias.. as bulwark against tyranny. It all got deformed into an unrestricted right to bear ANY arms much later.
