no worries Mowich - I know your intentions come from a good place. ;)

... and Karrie, you may be right - but I being the unrealistic idealist that I am, I don't care what language they wrap the money in I just want to see the aid get there as quickly as possible. Mind you, on the flip side, I suppose there'll be a different set of needs down the road once the emergent situation is dealt with - so either way the money will certainly be put to good use no matter when it gets there.

POLITICIANS R US...

To serve the public is good
In this land of 'hewers of wood'
Some like it one way
While others do say
We shouldn't, or maybe we should

It's quite an impossible feat
To work under such public heat
Don't make a mistake
On decisions you make
Or you'll end up as really dead meat

If you had to cope with this stuff
It would make your days really tough
It's hard to be strong
When you're always wrong
You'd soon say, “I've had quite enough!”

We're cynics and critics and more
Politicians we seem to abhor
But what do you want
Is it only to flaunt
Nasty comments, and offer no more?

If you have solutions, let's hear
How you would make it all clear
How Canada could
Get more for our wood
And other things we hold so dear

We might want to stop and just think
If things are so bad that they stink
How could things improve
And become reallly smooth
And we'd all end up right in the pink

Come forth with all your good thoughts
Solutions? I'm sure you have lots
Le'ts hear what they are
Why not raise the bar
Instead of just taking potshots

We're all just people you see
Even though our focus is “me”
If you stretch it a little
But do not belittle
The others, just think harmony!

For if we continue the fight
And see things as left or as right
Will we attract the best people
Or just some of the 'sheeple'
Who'll do nothing to clean up the shyte?

If you want good people to serve
With honour and yes, even nerve
You first have to know
What you want, and then show
That you won't always throw them a curve

Of course we'd all like perfection
In our government's thoughts and direction
But we must give and take
And then we might make
Politicians of our own good selection

While at it, tell your deadbeat MP he/she is going to be paid what he's/she's worth but luckily for him/her there are minimum wage laws.

Nice poem CB but I would rather feed them all to the dwindling Grizzly Bear population. The present corrupt system is beyond fixing. Can it and start all over with no party politics.

Not a bad thought - it would be very interesting to see a group of MPs all working for their constituents exclusively. How do you think it could all get started?

countryboy;
As a strategist and just plain good thinker, I think Mr. Harper is well ahead of the rest of the pack

A great , knowledgable, conservative post .I think countryboy you are well ahead of the rest of the "oldpack" in this forum .

His opponents are screaming blue bloody murder of course, but some of it is frustration at his continuing "good smarts" in running things. And he's getting better at it all the time, which proves he can learn from experience

........... and he'll get the majority ,and I'll be home
