"It is your right to like or dislike anybody you want. But when the teabaggers shout epithets like 'nigg*r' or 'fagg*t', they are clearly stepping over the line. That is what we are discussing here, not your right to like or dislike somebody"

And when decent and normal people are besmirched by being called "tea baggers" - a depraved homosexual activity - now that is REALLY stepping over the line.

And that is what we are discussing here. Or should it be titled: "The usual liberal hypocrisy"?
Ah! But if those terms had been spoken by liberals or democrats, you would be screaming bigot and racist. Are two-faced and transparent derogatory words?

"There were cries of 'nigg*r' aimed at Rep. Lewis, and cries of 'f*g' directed at Barney Franks, the openly gay member. There is reason to believe that at least some of them are racist and homophobic."

So WHAT??? Lewis is BLACK. Franks is a self-admitted HOMO. As I said earlier, invectives and adjectives are only a matter of degree. Neither of these two worthies can deny what they are and what they've been called. In fact, if they should wear it as a badge of honour.

Only the overly sensitive could make a montain out of this mole hill.

What the Tea Partiers said was absolutely no worse than the idiotic chants like "Bush lied, people died" or for that matter, calling honest Americans tea baggers.

I see, so what you are saying is that Rep. Lewis should call himself a 'nigg*r', that he indeed is a 'nigg*r'? No wonder you don't have any problem with what the teabaggers said.

When even the Republicans and some tea party supporters think that the behavior was wrong and you see nothing wrong in teabaggers yelling 'nigg*r' and fagg*t', that really tells me what you think of blacks and gays, You think the same way as those yahoos who yelled racist and homophobic slurs did.

The Tea Party movement doesmake for good entertainment though, it's like watching an episode of Jerry Spring on the front lawn of the Capital.

I'm angry, I'm white & I hate people having access to health care. With that uppity usurper socializing our country from the white house, we have to stand up and stop health care reform cause they'll be coming for our guns next. "spits chewing tobacco"

God damn liberal elites interfering with our pure capitalist system, which I'm too f'ing stupid to understand but it's capitalism, it has to be good, like Jesus & the constitution.

Angry White signing out.

According to Yukon Jack, it's acceptable to call someone a 'ni99er', if they're black?

Hello, and welcome to 1959!

Don't knock 1959. As we discussed here a while ago, many conservatives here pine for the 'good old days' of 50 years ago. They think 1959 was the golden age, today is the pits. They would go back to 1959 in a flash (whites only, of course).

"Give me a break, it's nowhere along the same level as the other terms you mentioned. Tea-Baggers may be a derogatory term but it certainly doest not share the type of history n*gger or f*ggot does."

YOU give ME a break!

The fact that the President is a black man and the fact that the person who is most responsible for the financial meltdown is a homosexual should put all these tired, obsolete, invalid and grotesque cries of nonsense to rest.

For all who prefer crying instead of looking in history:

The N-word is nothing more and nothing less than colloquial pronounciation of the Spanish/Portugese word. You know.

As far as the other word is concerned, the homosexuals hijacked a word that used to mean happy. They, of all people, have no reason to complain.

And they usually don't. They have slavish, slobbering spokesmen like SirJosephPorter.

A non-issue for a former civil rights activist? Civil Rights, something he worked hard at for many years only to have some trailerpark bigot refer to him as a n*gger because he disagrees with the way he plans to vote?

Quite so. As Rep. Lewis said, it was as if he was back in Selma, Alabama 40 years ago. One would think that most Americans would have gone beyond such thinking by now. Evidently not the teabaggers (and evidently not some in this forum).

The financial meltdown was well on its way by the time Obama took office, not that he lowered it but you can't pin it all on the black guy, Jack.

Jack, regardless of the origins of the N word, for the last 200+ years or so it has held a very specific meaning for which there is no confusion.

The homosexuals hijacked the word "f*ggot" so straight people can insult them with it, are you sure about that, Jack?

Oh, boo hoo hoo, cry me a river. Lewis IS a member of the House of Representatives. The mayors of most large cities and many small cities in America are blacks. (Pardon my transgression: AFRICAN-AMERICANS).

Lewis among with other malcontents think it is necessary to form a "congressional Black Caucus", but would cry if there were any attempt to form a congressional white caucus.

Obama is the President, for heaven's sakes.

What more do they want?

Tea bagging is a sexual act which is used by some on the left/mainstream to describe the Tea Party Movement whereas the other two are insults aimed at specific peoples, ie gays & blacks, if you can't see the difference you really are daft. No ambiguity there, Jacko.

The negative connotation of ‘tea bagging’ was known only to very few until teabaggers themselves brought it to everybody’s attention.

The term teabaggers was initially used by a CNN reporter (I forget his name). He probably used it as a short form, tea party supporters or tea party followers is a mouth full to say. Teabagger is short, to the point and descriptive (like Republican or democrat).

That was probably the only reason he used the term. If tea baggers themselves had not made such a big deal of it, most people would still be ignorant as to its sexual meaning. I think teabaggers themselves are largely responsible for the controversy.

As I said before, I use it strictly as a short form, nothing more.

We don't want anything more, now we know how you really feel about blacks. When you said that Rep. Lewis is a nigg*r, that he should proudly call himself a nigg*r, that told me all I wanted to know about you.

DurkaDurka, Barney Frank was responsible for enforcing the misguided notion that any scoff-law, worthless punk have a right to live in a mansion, whether being able to pay for it or not, just because of skin colour. In case you forgot (perhaps never even knew) that happened in 2006.

Anyone - regardless of race or skin colour - should live in the present, not in the past. The black (pardon me African-American) community has no reasonable right or cause to complain about the present. But they do , anyways, by force of habit - have difficulties to enter today.

With sufficient ill will anyone can bring in real or imagined wrong against them.

You know fully well that the word I said was hijacked by the homosexuals was "GAY". Let me repeat: "GAY".

This blatant LIE is worthy of reporting.

"Are you black, Jack?"

Surely you should have addressed that to SirJosephPorter, based on his post # 111.

And if you wanted to be real thorough, you should have asked:

"Are you gay"?

No, he (and you, obviously) use it as a derogatory way to sneakily try to insult people, to poke fun at them, exactly the way you use 'Joan of Arc' to refer to Palin.
Don't worry, you're quite transparent; you might think there are people out there who believe you, but their numbers are quite small.
It's childish, but not unexpected.

But you're still good for a laugh.

I knew you were going to say that, YJ. So I saved your post on the hard disk, in case I have to reproduce it (and in case you go back and edit it).

Oh, how quickly we forget. This is your post #64

"There were cries of 'nigg*r' aimed at Rep. Lewis, and cries of 'f*g' directed at Barney Franks, the openly gay member. There is reason to believe that at least some of them are racist and homophobic."

Note the red text. You are saying that they are what they have been called. They have been called ‘nigg*r’ and ‘f*g’. So you are saying that they are ‘nigg*r’ and ’f*g’.

Further, you are saying that they should wear it as a badge of honour. That means that Rep. Lewis should call himself a ‘nigg*r’.

And you have the nerve to claim that I am lying? If you want to report my post, report away. I am sure the mods will see my viewpoint.

You may believe what you want, but I stand by what I said. Sure, I use Joan of Arc to make fun of Palin acolytes. But I use the term teabaggers purely as a short form.

And suppose I use it as a derogatory term (I don't, but suppose I did), so what? Are you a teabagger? If not, then what is your beef?

Northern Ontario,
Like I said: It's like slowing down to look at a car wreck
LW: I suppose you have heard of the term "buzz word" used at meetings....The one that i found was very much over-used when I attended production meetings was "Going forward" which I counted 17 times used at a production meeting, which is why SPA's over use of certain phrases is easy for me to spot...To-day religious right has been replaced by Teabagger as a buzz word....but I prefer to call it a "troll" because a buzz word is usually used inadvertently but these other words are admittedly used on purpose aggravate people....a definite trolling tactic non???
