That's what they are paid for. Just like our soldiers are paid to put their lives at risk in defense of this country and citizens our cops are supposed to assume risks to serve and protect us. I have less problem paying for him to sit on compo or even get pensioned off than I do with tasering an old lady twice. That could be your mother or grandmother and not just a name in the news, then you would have a different opinion.

All Soldiers sign on the line for unlimited liability. Police officers do not.
What am I referring to?

No they are NOT paid to take stupid chances. Only in Hollywood. Like firefighters their first objective is their own safety.

Nobody said anything about 'stupid' chances or do hollywood movie sunts. The problem is these days they don't take any chances and that is pathetic. It is a shoot first, ask questions later approach and it is ludicrous. Just for a minute think back to the inception of the RCMP. Were they hired to give speeding tickets or parking tickets? NO, they were hired to deal with town drunks without shooting them or chase bank robbers who would shoot at them, go after cattle rustlers and all manner of dangerous people. They were to put themselves in harms way for our benefit. You may not think that is their role but it is.

Chances like shooting unarmed civil servants?

It is a shoot first, ask questions later approach and it is ludicrous.
Please stop embarrassing yourself...

The first to arrive did what you would hope: he spoke gently to the old lady as he drove beside her, asking her if she was OK and if she wanted a ride. When he got no answer, he asked her to put the knife down. But Pasquale was lost in her own world.

Then the second officer arrived and made what would appear to be a key observation. To quote the SIU release: “She was not threatening anyone with the knife and did not appear suicidal.”

So again, where was the need for such force?

The second officer yelled at her to drop the knife but she didn’t respond. The third on the scene was a supervisor allowed to carry the Taser. He, too, screamed at Pasquale to no avail. He decided to apprehend her under the Mental Health Act because he thought she was suffering from a mental disorder and could cause serious bodily harm to herself or others. No argument there.

The argument is why three strong, fit officers decided that their best option to take down a fragile and demented 80-year-old was by firing twice at her with an electric current.

They said they didn’t want to wrestle her to the ground because they were worried about officer safety. What about pepper spray or simply knocking the knife out of her hand with a baton? The police supervisor told the SIU he worried those approaches might injure her.

Except you. You're the one thinks they should have disarmed her. That is taking stupid chances. After all they could have just shot her instead of tazzering.

Maybe you're ok with cops who choose to taser an 80 year old lady TWICE. I'm not. If you don't want any danger in your job become a f*cking librarian or work at a call center for $12/hr. If you sign up to be a cop understand there are times you have to risk your physical health for the safety of the public you serve. If they aren't willing to assume these risks then we might as well disband all police forces and replace them with military or vigilantes. Pick your poison. What is so absolutely insane here is you are supporting cops not just tasering an old lady but doing it twice. WTF? If our cops are so pathetic they need to resort to that extreme measure in that situation they aren't worth a wooden nickel and we might as well save the money spent on their worthless a$$es. You wonder why these f*ckers are out of control, well them getting away with this and morons supporting this action is why they think they can abuse whoever they please without repercussion. Allowing this type of action to not just go unpunished but give them a pat on the back only enhances their belief they are above the law and can resort to violent tactics whenever they please.

Who is the idiot that gave these halfwits torture weapons?
Obviously idiots like Bear who think tasering an 80 year old lady twice is justifiable and the correct way to deal with the situation.

They said they didn’t want to wrestle her to the ground because they were worried about officer safety. What about pepper spray or simply knocking the knife out of her hand with a baton? The police supervisor told the SIU he worried those approaches might injure her.

Of course. Because using 10,000 volts on an 80 year old lady won't do any harm at all. No chance of her doing a face-plant on the sidewalk or it disrupting her pacemaker or breaking a hip or multiple fractures from falling. And of course those chances of injury diminish when you hit her with the taser twice. I mean she was laying there twitching with a broken hip, they had to hit her a second time.

You are f*cked in the head!!!!

1st off. Just let me point out, the above idiocy, is why I make you look stupid at every chance.

Secondly, can you please show me where I said what you just claimed?

I never said anything to the contrary pumpkin.

Maybe you should stick to the black part of my posts, instead of making up an argument you think you can win, only to make yourself look stupid.

You are f*cked in the head!!!!
Not nearly as much as the that makes up commentary to argue against, lol.

Look, you shot your mouth off, I made you look stupid by pointing it out, but that's no excuse for you to go and embarrass yourself further by incorporating your imagination and then freaking out in an emotional outburst.

Maybe you need to take a break.
