With you on this one, Nick.

Bread knives are serrated, but don't have much of a point.

Not saying what's what as far as any of it goes, not endorsing the tasering or anything like that, but if you ran my bread knife across your skin you'd be singing a very different song. I guarantee it.

But I do think they need to have a better system in place for dealing with mentally ill people.

I'm pretty sure I could subdue an 80 year old woman even if she had your bread knife and still walk away. I wouldn't even need 2 friends to help. Don't cops receive hand to hand training anymore or is it just tasers and guns? I would rather lose a little blood and take a few stitches than taser an old lady.

WTF do we pay these idiots for if it isn't to take some risks in order to keep us safe? At this point in time I feel less safe with the way our police forces respond to situations rather than more safe. It is a sad state of affairs.

Ya, you'd just gun her down with your hand cannon like a big ole butch dude, lol.

You don't know how happy I am to know I am so much a part of your life and psyche that you have to follow me from thread to thread trying to troll me. Thanks!

Femoral, corodid.

And neither takes a considerable amount of force or energy to open.

Not to mention, wrestling her or attempting to disarm by force, may have ended in the same injury. Which from what I gather from reading further, is why they were cleared of any wrong doing.

Oh that's why you hide from me and make up names for yourself, lol.

Gotchya, lol.

Oh, BTW, stop crying like a little girl when you get what you beg for, lol...

Of course he does.

I had a differing opinion until following the testimony that has been published ref the inquest in Ontario regarding the 3 deaths of mentally ill persons involved with Police Officers.
One gentleman's sister was supervised when she found out how long it can take for a Taser to take effect, if it does take or cause a full effect.

If you think an 80 year old lady with dementia can aim for and hit the femoral or corotid artery then yes. I going with me being bigger, stronger, faster and better trained and willing to take the chance rather than taser a mentally ill old woman. Feel free to taser her if you like but I wont.

So what are you going to do?

Use your ninja like skills that you learned when you were an MP?

Any action would still require restraining her. The end result likely being the same.

I'm sure that's beyond your grasp though.

I go with the experts when another person has to make that decision.
Having been in wacky spots I knew that we were trained not to take certain actions say if a person was injured in a mine blast and to wait for the Engineers to arrive.
Myself I looked at it differently- All dependent upon who and what age they were.
Then the only person I placed at risk was myself. No one else, myself.

I think every situation is different. If I were coming at you with a spoon you would probably be right to taser me or even shoot me but I ain't a little old lady with dementia. Where our cops are making mistakes is by failing to take any time to rationally analyze the situation instead opting for immediate escalation to use of force and often that is lethal force and I believe that is how they are being trained.

Now it is a spoon. It would be used though if you used a stapler - I would double tase ya.

Is that what you think these cops did?

Want to show us where it says that please?

Or should we chalk another load of your crap up to your splendid imagination?

She doesn't have to aim, just hit one by accident. If a cop did get sliced then he would be off work on our dime.

That's what they are paid for. Just like our soldiers are paid to put their lives at risk in defense of this country and citizens our cops are supposed to assume risks to serve and protect us. I have less problem paying for him to sit on compo or even get pensioned off than I do with tasering an old lady twice. That could be your mother or grandmother and not just a name in the news, then you would have a different opinion.
