Cannuck, is that a wheel chair behind Dustin and did he have CP? His face has the look of a CP child and his fondness for hugging is also indicative of CP. It feels unusual to cry for a child I've never met and yet it's like I knew him. It's good of you to to help him be remembered everywhere. I hate this flu. It's very scary.

When I initially talked to the health clinic about getting a Swine Flu shot I was told that I was in one of the top priority groups. A day and a half later I'm told that most seniors are immune to the flu bug and we are moved to the back of the line. So, no flu shot because I am immune.......I hope;-)

What bugs me(no pun intended)is that now people are saying that older people are not exposed as often and that is why they, as a group, are not coming down with H1N1 as much as younger groups. My special immune status has disappeared.....;-)

Until a case arises where a person born before '57 does contract a SERIOUS case of the Swine, we should just accept immunity as a "fact" and quit worrying about it. If a serious case does arise, then it may be the right time to adjust our thinking.

I got my seasonal shot.
I got my H1N1 shot.

If you don't have yours, obviously you figured sleeping in is better than preventing a potentially deadly disease. If you were too lazy to get up early enough in the morning to get yours, don't complain.

hmmmmm....are you in a "high risk group" jackie boy? If not, then considering they are saying will will have a short supply, why did you choose to take away a shot that could have been used for someone IN a high risk group? Are you that selfish and self centered?

DUSTIN "BEAR" RENSCHLER
1996 - 2009
Dustin Garnieth Renschler, beloved son of Marina and Brad, and brother to Shelby, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the age of 13 years. Dustin was born on March 16, 1996 in Bow Island, to proud parents, Brad and Marina and a little brother to Shelby. Dustin endured a life of medical woes and faced his challenges with sparkling spirit. His personality shone through his eyes and was adored by those around him. “Bear” was quite a prankster and liked to maintain his silence until his sister, Shelby wanted to watch TV. It was then his silence was broken and he would make his presence known by being loud - and then he would laugh! He was an affectionate young man and loved to cuddle. He would pull you near and hold on tight. He liked to tease and would often pinch while paying close attention to your hair to pull. Needless to say, while he loved animals, they showed their patience as he would pull on their ears and such. His roughhousing didn’t end with the family pet, his dad was also on the receiving end when “Bear” would demonstrate his newly learned moves from watching wrestling. Dustin loved life and never complained of adversity, even following surgeries. Like his picture, he remained happy and enjoyed the company of those around him. His memory will be cherished by his parents, Brad and Marina and his sister, Shelby; grandpa Garny Renschler and grandma Lu Robertson; uncle Mike (Amber) Renschler, auntie Tracey (Terry) Gardner, uncle Doug Smith, auntie Wanda Nord (Boyd), auntie Sam Gran, uncle Rob Robertson and auntie Patty Robertson as well as numerous cousins and other relatives. He was predeceased by his grandma, Joan Renschler, grandpa, Jim Robertson, grandpa Oly Pelltier, grandpa Wyman Campbell and ‘Harley Pup’. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects and visit with the family at Marina’s home, 317 - 4th Street West, at liesure from Sunday, November 8, 2009 to Tuesday morning, November 10, 2009. A Celebration of Dustin’s life, filled with music, will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 139 - 2nd Ave. West, Bow Island on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Sheila McLeod officiating. Interment will follow at the Burdett Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Dustin’s name may be made directly to the Southridge Drive Group Home, 64 Southridge Drive, S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1B 2N6.
Bear's family has our deepest sympathies. No parent should have to experience their child going before them.

Yeah, older folks are being turned down here, too. They joke about age-ism.

We went in yesterday and got ours. We were 8th and 9th in line and a couple in front of us were only getting their regular flu shots. Then we went and had lunch.

Jack....YukonJack....different provinces release the shot in different ways
with different priorities. Your being in Manitoba means you could get up and
get in line somewhere. In Saskatchewan so far, only Health Care Professionals
and children aged 6mo.-4yrs. of age have received the H1N1 Vaccination.

Those with underlying health conditions can start lining up on Nov. 9th....and the
rest of the population should be able to start lining up on the 16th....assuming
availability of the vaccine. Getting up & into a line early has nothing to do with
anything (laziness included) in many parts of the country.

and what group would that be jackie boy? Are you 6 - 60 months old, or are you pregnant?
Probably has a chronic problem. That's one of the reasons we were given as to why people born before '57 get them. It isn't a toughie to figure out.

I think that's the same priority list we have here. I think today is the last day for shots around here for a while
So far, no fever, aches, etc.

I would think (I've been wrong before) that having a "chronic problem" isn't going to make you more susceptible to the Swine, unless your immune system is badly compromised.

Gratuitous advice...

If you cough or sneeze or sniff,
Kindly use a handkerchief!
If a hanky you have not,
Use your sleeve to contain the snot!
H1N1 is a breeze,
But don't drop by if you sneeze!

I imagine chronic breathing problems would be in there. Possibly chronic pump problems, too. Neither necessarily precipitates a tax on the immune system. There are probably others.

AnnaG, you went and got your shots. As I did.

You claim I have chronic problems. Since you got your shots same way as I did, (getting up early enough) you must have chronic problems, too.

My chronic problem is arthritis. Not anything mental, such as yours.
