So are you saying I should "slip" my loved ones in as they live in the same house as me ( I am an RN)....I think they will do the honorable thing and wait their turns.

What makes SJP any more important the the Husband of the woman who has cancer (she is vulnerable), or the teachers who are exposed everyday.

Some people are higher risk, and should get the vaccine first, not the ones who have an "in". It is just not right, but that is just me.

Oh, I don't mind telling the world about it, JLM. I like to stir things up. Didn't the thread suddenly become interesting?

For all anybody knows, I could be lying about it (I am not, but I could be). Is there really any reason to get that worked up about it? But people do.

Just remember your justification when you decide to slag a Republican for doing something that you think is wrong. You're not the only person with flexible morals.

Sounds more like it's just simple mismanagement. It happens when
Government is involved.

In this case it's just the opposite. They've done such a good job of selling the idea of immunization that they are overwhelmed. It doesn't help when a perfectly healthy young kid dies the week the vaccine comes out.

I have to wait until November 19th for mine. In the meantime, there are confirmed cases on my campus. They aren't allowed to tell us who, obviously, but it's fairly obvious. I just wonder if they were at Pub this weekend for the Halloween festivities. The 19th seems so far away now.

Tonington, I'm curious - how are the staff and faculty dealing with this at your University? Are they staying home if they're sick?

On campus students are encouraged to say in their dorm rooms, off campus students and staff are encouraged to stay home. How that ends up working out in the end, I'm not really sure. What worries me is that I'm already under the weather, there is some strep throat sweeping across campus right now as well, which I am particularly sensitive to. Though I don't smoke anymore, so perhaps I'll be OK...here's to hoping anyways.

yes Toni, keep an eye on that and get antibacterial meds if you come down with it ok? Our faculty are not staying home when they're sick and it's pissing me off big time.

They should, and they probably know better too. That would make me mad as hell too.

I'll be on the meds if needed. Brought Jamie to the walk-in on the weekend. In and out in 5 minutes, Doc said she was on the mend. So that's good. I just don't want any of those nasty co-infection interactions going on if I get this bug.

yes, those are the ones that the h1n1 really target from what I understand. I know you know enough to be vigilant.... and ya the instructors where I work are all showing up sick as hell.

I think you are being naïve, lindyloo. I don’t know about nurses, but do you really think that most doctors have not obtained H1N1 for their spouses?

Or do you think conversations similar to following do not take place?

“Hey doc, you are giving H1N1 to my two kids tomorrow. How about slipping my wife one?”

“No, she does not come under any of the priority groups.”

“Well, do you remember you had that plumbing emergency, your bathroom got flooded and I rushed over at night last month?” (or ‘do you remember you had to go to hospital emergency at night last winter, and I came with my snow plough and cleared up your driveway?”)

“Well, let me see what I can do.”

These things go on all the time.

That's just disgusting Man. It really is. Corruption like you're describing in
any field is absolutely deplorable behavior. Try as you might, justifying this
is a loosing battle....it's just unjustifiable.

I'd report anyone who admitted such behaviour. Queue jumping your friends and family is despicable. To say that it happened and 'oops' is one thing. But, to say it happened and defend it... nail on the head Ron... it's indefensible.

Whatever will be will be, I can rest easy knowing that those I love have honor and will wait until it is their time to get what is rightfully theirs.

I can just imagine Joey on the Titanic. How many children do you think he would step on trying to get to a life boat?

Well...I know there are still honorable folks out there. I am not saying this kind of thing does not happen, it does but should not. I am saddened and disgusted that you came on here and bragged about getting the vaccine.

I know there is corruption every where but at what expense? Enjoy your immunity, the world is a better place now that you are safe! Some teacher may not get the vaccine now, and thus spread it to his/her students. Rest well, SJP, and live with that thought.

If everyone thought like you the world would be a hell of a lot better place.
