Sorry, when I saw the cat I just assumed I was talking to a female ....you should put up a picture of a hummer, D8 or something like that....hey that's a cat too!
That's not a bad idea.
I wondered when I mentioned The Hundred Homes, and you didnt seem to twig to it. I guess its been long enough that the name has faded into history.
That entire section was built immmediately after the war, for returning Vets. The government used the designs of homes typically provided for Army Bases, thats why there are only four or five versions throughout the area. Also why there were none (I believe) that originally had basements. If my memory serves me, your house has an upstairs, am I right?
Ours had been raised and basemented at one time - however, the dummy (or cheap bugger) who did it stopped at a ceiling height of about 6 1/2 feet downstairs - ONE MORE ROW OF BLOCK would have been a half-decent basement! But seeing as I'm 6'1", I always had to be careful to walk around the ceiling lights, until I replaced some of them with flush Box-lights.
We moved there in December of '76; was transferred in early 1980. In that time it's value went up over 25%,which allowed us to get a house much newer and bigger. But I still think of it as a pretty good "starter home".
WOW - what a small world, eh???

ps: I don't know if you've noticed it or not, but the area (as most older areas) is FULL of lawn-fleas! If you have a cat or dog, get collars for them. It got to where the buggers got into our Living Room carpet and started multiplying. Good thing I was putting in new carpets anyway.
And if you see the folks that own the place, tell them about me.
Oh, and BTW, if there is any problem with the Kitchen addition, that was AFTER me! Not too long, probably about 20 or so years ago.
