So it is rather a problem with the purchase price and not really with design, comfort, driving safety and so on.

I filled out your survey. and I agree that the price is prohibitive otherwise i would drive an import.
Germans car makers used Jews to make their cars in world war two and when it was time to pay them they were sent to the concentration camps to be exterminated in the final solution.
I heard that the Jews were used as crash test subjects in cars to test their safety this I cannot confirm just heard it.
I also heard that modern day German carmakers do not employ Jews in their car and truck plants Germancars can you find out why?
I also heard that the German carmakers were able to use technologies developed in the killing machines more efficiently in the concentration camps in their car making processes after the war.
These technologies were not supposed to be used but some how they got out into the public arena.

I've had two German cars ... a Volkswagen beetle and a Dodge Omni. Both of them might have lasted forever if the tin worm hadn't eaten them.
First car I ever owned was an old, used, VW; no heat, little window in the rear, 6V system sucked, but it was a car and I had it for 2 years......................And, traded it for a Karmann Ghia, (little VW sports car), which I traded for a tree and a cedar rail fence. First the tree, (car-roaming shot :roll, then the fence.
Hated the bug, loved the Ghia. Bought another Ghia, new, and we drove it for about 5 years. Popped our two kids in that little back seat, belted them in and toured the country in it, tent on the top, and camping gear on everyone's lap. Wonderful car. Finally it literally rusted away.
Said goodbye to VW and went to water-cooled, and heat. Better idea!!
About that time, I almost bought a really old, raced, Porche; but didn't want the promised divorce, so bought a canoe instead.............go figure. Better idea.

I always thought the Bug was a great little car like the Mini. It was water cooled but you still needed a scraper for the inside of the windshield and a 6V Dunlop battery as well as an engine crank.
Just don't make them that way anymore.

@ Liberalman: VW employed prisoners of war and of concentration camps, as they needed them to work on cars that the Nazis needed for war. They even built a special KZ in which the captives had to produce these cars.
